I don’t recall exactly what’s the deal with her, and it seems like there’s a split of opinion and some murky memories going around.
One thing’s for sure, the sister-in-law is bitter and trying to wreck her sister’s marriage. She is such a jerk. “Look at this place!” Yeah, coz we all know that when you make a little money you have to move out of the apartment and start filling some frickin’ palace with big screen TVs, or else everyone starts getting clinically depressed  The wife should consider herself lucky Rico accepted the partnership in the first place, it’s clear that the extra responsibilities are really bothering him. She probably does appreciate Rico, but sister-in-laws are second place only to psychiatrists in wrecking marriages.
The first thing I thought when I saw Claire puke, due to TV conditioning, was “pregnancy”, which is just what they wanted me to think. But I wonder, there are other reasons women throw up in real life, right? And how early would the puking commence, she couldn’t have been pregnant long? We didn’t even get the TV-standard “OMG, I’m late for my monthly bleeding thing, oh no!” scene. Maybe the father’s that guy she screwed in the first episode of this season, and not Russell.
And please, please, somebody find a way to kill off the stupid, stupid, stupid, worthless, lousy Brenda before they reunite her with Nate. To resort to an “Enoch Arden” plot device with Lisa showing up alive after he gets back with Brenda is just too cliched. That, and Brenda sucks.
And there’s no way Claire keeps the baby. That kid’s getting miscarried, or if the show wants to be controversial the kid’s getting RU486’ed (if it’s still early enough for that?) Of course, they’re in California, so she can get an abortion pretty much as late as she wants it, if the show goes that route. If she keeps it, she’d always have a connection to the father, which she won’t want. So the unborn baby dies or the father does, most likely.
Lisa’s car does look suspicious, but surely the cops can’t devote resources to investigating a potential homicide solely on the evidence of a soda can? Taking the backpack is explainable if she went off into the woods or something.
