Good episode! Wow! I’m going to miss this hour of Sunday night until. . . when? Next spring or summer some time? Oy!
Looks like George is really over the edge. Poor Ruth.
Poor lonesome Rico.
Poor Clare. Too much dope and now a dope in her bed.
Poor David, but a nice ending with Nathaniel. Poor Keith. Will he or won’t he take on the bodyguard job?
And, most of all, poor Nate. I didn’t see this twist coming, but does this mean what I’ve thought all along (that Nate isn’t Maya’s father)???
Six Feet Under is my favourite television show, but this was by far the most disturbing episode to date.
BTW, based on history, I would say the next season won’t happen for 12 or 13 months.
And I forgot to include this in my original post, but Brenda looked SMASHING at Clare’s opening!!
Clare didn’t look so bad herself.
Poor Russell. He’s such a loser.
Great finale. I think this is the first season where I felt satisfied with how the season ended.
Great finale–I’m happy there’s closure for both Nate and David.
So, since there had been hints to a death on the finale, who thought it was going to be Anita from an overdose at Claire’s show? I was just waiting for someone to walk into the bathroom to see her sprawled on the floor…
Who was in from the last thread that thought that Lisa’s photo came from the book, and thought that the Kimmels were somehow involved? Good Call!
So the tip on Lisa’s photo was correct. Mr Barb met her on the beach and killed her. His rapid exit did surprise me though… Still curious how the daughter knew what happened. I’m sure it wasn’t a family dinner discussion, “Please pass the roast beef. Oh by the way, I’m screwing your Aunt Lisa…” Hopefully this is the closure on the Lisa story line.
The COTW was very predictable - just wasn’t sure which one it was going to be.
Don’t know what to think about Claire - it was like all of her recent demons were at her show, except Edie. I’m fairly certain though that screwing Billy is not the answer. Can’t wait to see the pictures that Margaret will want Claire to do of her and Olivier - you just know it will be a full body scene of them having sex…
George has retreated into his shelter away from the big bad world (again, predictable). Who was the spirit giving him advice, his mother?
Vanessa has decided she likes “charity work”
Nate & Brenda drag on…
David & Keith - David still wussed out and didn’t unload on the guy in jail. Keith was very attracted by the skinny dipper, even though he was at the swarmy guy’s place.
I also liked Nathaniel’s parting wisdom, “Quit your whining, you can still do things, you’re alive” (or something like that).
Wonder when Nate is going to wake up from his surgery
We’re supposed to think the BIL killed Lisa? I didn’t get that, but he said a few words that I didn’t catch.
Why couldn’t they have met at the beach, he left, Lisa went for a swim and drowned?
Did he admit to it?
He said, “I couldn’t let her tell Barb”. What other motivation would he need?
Maybe my thought processes are a little simplistic, but, to me, blowing your brains out=confession. YMMV.
Why would he blow his brains out if she had simply gone for a swim and drowned?
Even though Nate may be compelled to screw every female that gets within arms reach, that doesn’t mean Mr Barb also gets to screw Lisa. This is not a boinking rights equality issue…
Something tells me though that Mr Barb was Maya’s real father.
Those were the words I didn’t catch – I couldn’t let her tell Barb.
Yeah, suicide usually is a confession. Although this guy seemed so family-oriented, I could see him doing it because he saw that his wife had been listening.
I believe I was one of the first who suggested that something was up with the book.
But in the spirit of the show, I will share credit with anyone who thinks that they thought of it.
Whether or not, Nate is Maya’s father is unimportant now. If it’s the dead guy, his widow wouldn’t want to know. If your husband blows his brains out in front of you, you aren’t going to be in shape to determine custody of a child. Nor would she be likely to win custody of the child anyway in any court in the United States unless Nate goes on a murder rampage.
I didn’t find the episode particularly disturbing. Except for the fact that George has gone off the deep end. Sounds like his daughter was expecting it.
I really believe that was his confession–did he actually need to say that he killed her? I thought that was pretty clear cut that he did it, and when he realized that Barb had heard it… well, that’s when he knew it was game over.
In the interest of giving the character a real name, the deceased character’s name was Hoyt.
Played by Jeff Yagher.
(Sorry–didn’t mean to sound snotty in that last post AuntiePam–danged sluggish board and simulposting!)
I just prefer calling him Mr Barb due to his “yes dear” actions whenever he was with her.
Was the Lisa revelation really news to Barb or was she just reacting to him letting the cat out of the bag? The missing piece is how did the daughter know?
Barb probably didn’t know, but Michaela must have known.
I think the Lisa revelation was news to Barb, since he did say “I couldn’t let her tell Barb.” Meaning, Barb didn’t know about it at all.
Ah, yes, the mystery is how did the little girl know? Did she catch a snippet of conversation once? Does she talk to the dead? Maybe we’ll know next season.
