Skeeters in the MMP

Ugh What a screwed up day I had.

I am so tired but I am going to irk a while longer.

We took Mackie to the rabies clinic and he didn’t do so well. We ended up having to take him to the emergency clinic.
He has laryngeal paralysis, which means basically that when he gets upset his throat closes up, making it harder for him to breathe, which upsets him even more, which makes it even harder to breathe. It was brought on by the heat and the stress of being around lots of strange people and pets.
I really thought he was going to die.
The vets at the rabies clinic thought once he got home, into air conditioning and familiar surroundings, he would be okay.
He wasn’t.
I should have taken him to the emergency vet sooner than I did but I was really afraid the ride would kill him.

So he got fluids, oxygen and a sedative, and a prescription for sedatives. Poor thing is pretty loopy right now. He has to be kept calm, quiet and only go outside to potty and then right back in. He also gets chicken and rice for the next 3-5 days which will probably morph into everyday for the rest of his life because once this dog gets something good he doesn’t forget it. I have to watch his breathing, if he has more than 50 breaths a minute I have to take him back, any panting or straining to breathe I have to take him back. When we got home he could barely make it from the truck to the house.

Of course while all this is going on irk called (twice) and asked me to log in because they needed extra help, and the clinic kept changing the time I could pick the dog up.
First I was supposed to pick him up at 6, then 7 and we didn’t get out until 8:30.

Sah-son has crashed, I’d like to but I want to stay up and keep an eye on the dog a while longer. It’s thundering, I am so happy this dog was never bothered by thunder, even when he could hear it.

Hawks win.

{{{{{{Sari and Mackie}}}}}}}

That sucks, Nettie.:frowning:

This is undoubtedly a reference to a sporting event of some sort.

{{{Sari and Mackie}}} How scary! I hope everything turns out ok.

Nettie Sorry - car stuff sucks. Hopefully you got it before you cracked the engine block or something. :frowning:

Food has been ingested. We are listening to daughter read Percy Jackson (family ritual - kids read to us at bedtime).

Hope the thunderboomers treat y’all kindly.

To add my (minor) irritant to the mix, a certain feline decided that 4:40 this morning was a good time to pee on my pillow. Little asshole!!! So we were up immediately stripping the bed - thank goodness for the mattress pad keeping the pee off my memory foam pad. While **FCD **was dispatching all the bedding to the basement, I made up the bed in the guest room so he could go back to sleep. Right now, I’m just too pissed off at being pissed on, so I’m awake and in a minor rage. I don’t know what’s with that cat, but he’s at the top of The List!

It’s raining, which is good. Except that I now have to launder a while bunch of bedding and I can’t hang it out. According to the forecast, tho, we shouldn’t have any more rain till this afternoon. I’ll wash the bedspread first, giving it the longest time to dry - maybe it’ll work out. Laundry wasn’t my plan for the day, but I don’t have much choice now, dammit.

After I finish venting my spleen, I’m thinking I’ll assume the position on the recliner. Maybe I’ll be able to sleep some more. 5 hours just isn’t enough.

yeah, Happy Sunday. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve breakfasted and I’m caffeinating. The bedspread is in the washer - I think I’ll be able to hang it out to dry before the t-storms come thru. The cat box is clean, and shortly, I will shower.

The new circuit box is really nice. Shawn did a great job. When he was done, he showed **FCD **the back of the old box - there were indications of obvious arcing - scary stuff! We didn’t know how bad it was! But now we’ve got a nice new box, installed correctly, and all we need to do is figure out the circuit labels. That almost makes up for Taz, but not quite…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 97 for the day. Gonna be another hawt one!

{{{Nettie}}} here’s hopin’ for a better day today.

{{{Sari and Mackey}}} poor feller! Hope he’s doin’ better today and that you get some rest.

MOOOOOOM I think there’d be a sign in my yahd that said, “Cat, free to anybody willin’ to put up with the %$#@*!”

Today’s plan include deheathenization and N.O.L. <snerk> Quickie! <snerk> Other than that it’ll be stay close to the a/c.

Ok, that’s all I got for now. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Also, purtification for deheathenization must commence at some point.

Happy Sunday Y"all!

it must have rained very hard last night, making noise on the patio outside my bedroom, because I dreamed about a leaky ceiling, heard the sound of the water hit the bucket used to catch the drips, felt it on my head as I walked under each new leak, and heard and felt the squish of the now soaked carpet.

blurf

We had a good rain last night - **FCD **said there was thunder, too, but I was sleeping with Mel, so I missed that. All I know is there’s a big puddle in the driveway, and that’s the indicator of much rain.

I am showered and dressed. The bedspread should be just about done washing, so I’ll haul that out to dry and toss in the next load. I didn’t intend to do laundry today. Stoopit cat. I do intend to go to Food Lion as they have Coke products on sale this week and we’re almost out. Gotta make sure I keep a caffeine supply on hand.

I’m up and caffeinated. I had a couple of power flickers thus morning, and the cable and Interweb tube is out.
**MMooomm! **, maybe you should see if the local Chinese places pick up as well as deliver.

**doggio **- you’re a sick, sick man!

Mooom, are your cat’s peeing issues mental or physical?

A few moresips of coffee, then it’s shower time to purtify for heathenization.

I think today’s peeing was attitude. I didn’t turn on the water in the sink for him when I got up to pee, so he had his revenge. Only possible explanation!! Little hairy bastard…

All the bedding is now washed and drying. I’ve been to Food Lion and I’ve got a poke butt and whole chicken standing by for when the smoker is preheated. The dishes are done and I’ll get them put away… eventually.

That’s a lot to accomplish so early on a Sunday.

Smokage has begun!!

Humidity is way down today, so I shall venture out and do some light erranding.

Look out, world - **rosie **is on the loose!!!

Flattery will get you evwrywhere.

ugh
this day hasn’t started out well

I woke up early too early, like 4am, and couldn’t get back to sleep. Then Sah-son woke at 6 so I asked him to keep an eye on the dog and I went back to sleep. I was sleeping so well and he woke me up at 8:30 to go out with him to mow the lawn.
He’ll do the back yard by himself but he wants me out front with him.
So the grass was a bit wet and the mower conked out because a big clump was stuck under the blades. He cleaned it out and the mower still won’t start. So we are looking all over for a reset button or something, he goes in to look it up online, comes back out and says the power is out. After figuring out that it wasn’t a outage but just the living room he had to go find the circuit box. This is a great time to find out we don’t have a flash light. He finally found the circuit box and flipped the switch - nothing. I forgot to tell him that you have to turn it off and then back on.
Now he doesn’t remember which circuit it was.
I said fine, just plug the lawn mower in some place else and finish the yard. Then we will fix the circuit, which meant flipping all of them until we found the right one.
Now all the clocks in the kitchen need to be reset.
Then to top it off I had to make some rice for the dog, I had boiled the chicken last night. The vet said minute rice is okay so I put that in the microwave, where it boiled over and made a huge mess. Feeding rice to a dog that is part pug makes an even bigger mess. I took one look at the microwave, one look at the rice covered floor and said screw it I’ve had enough shit for one morning and am taking a break.
I also have to do a ton of laundry because of all the wet towels we had to wrap around the dog yesterday.

And I think there is something wrong with the AC, it runs great but it doesn’t cycle on and off. That can wait until after my surgery. I simply refuse to add that to the To Do Before Surgery List.
Two days of freedom left and I have to spend one of them on petty annoyances.

However, the dog is okay today, (thank y’all for the hugs), very sleepy but okay. Of course he is thrilled to be getting chicken and rice.

Anyway

Happy Sunday!

Gee I wish I’d known today was the St Anthony’s Festival in town. They got ticket booths blocking the curb cuts, and apparently it was someone else’s job to move them, no matter with whom I spoke. Grrrrr.
But I accomplished my errands and am safely back home, if only because there were too many witnesses.
