Skeeters in the MMP

Sounds like Africized bees–they don’t give up, the Pit Bulls of the insect world.

Apartment is clean. I mad East Asian breakfast wraps for brunch. Next time I might pick up some naan for them.

:D:D:D

They rap?

I should have checked the recipe blog first, swampy. :stuck_out_tongue: WhileI was there, I did spot some recipes that should travel well for potlucks, so yay!

The laundry is in the dryer and will be folded/hung up before heading to Nashville to hear Neil Carter and the potluck after.

We’ve got power again. Not all of it - he’s still hooking up some circuits, but the a/c and the fridge and the computer are working - what else matters? No idea how many other circuits he’s got to do, but whatever… Surprisingly, it didn’t drop below 75° in the house. We brought it down to 73° before we left and it held in that range for 6 hours. I think the overcast and the good attic insulation really helped.

Success this morning - we got **FCD **2 sports jackets. Paired with nice slacks, they’ll give him appropriate attire for the wedding, or funerals, or other occasions that demand a jacket. I want him to get at least 1 white shirt and a couple of light colored ones - most of his are dark, and I’m not crazy about dark shirts with jackets.

Other than that, we haven’t done much - we haven’t been able to. We did chat with our neighbor - he had the floor of his new garage poured today - it’s a really nice garage! We figure he’ll have at least $25K in it before he’s done.

So that’s my lazy day so far.

Mom gets new electricity, and my email’s tied up right now due to no electricity at the datacenter.

Electricity in California is still bollixed after that Enron debacle 10 years ago. We got an energy “curtailment” warning yesterday to shut off copiers, printers, etc, and to be aware that the lobby lights will be off and one elevator per bank will be out of service. All in the hopes of preventing a widespread outage.

For this, we pay 36 cents per kilowatt-hour? Electricity was happy and cheap in the Carolinas. We had two nuke plants ten miles in either direction from us and paid nine cents.

gotti - come back to the east coast!
If anyone is interested, I gave Smokey a new toy; the vid is on my facebook page

Howdy Y’all! In from fun and frolick at the cee-mint pond. I’m all showered. Others are still out there and will begin to trickle in shortly. The makeage of an early supper will then commence. OYKW has grill duty and (shock!) I have agreed to let others do what needs doin’ in the kitchen which consists of bakin’ up some rolls and nukulatin’ the friggin’ good N.O.T. We have ::drumroll:: a fresh locally grown watermelon for dessert! YAY!!!

rosie yes, I saw that.

I went and got some AC Pro for the truck. It is much cooler now. I’m making sketti sauce for sketti and meatballs tomorrow.

rosie,

I want watermelon!! I saw some at the flea market as we drove by. But I’ll wait till I know the local melons are available.

Electrician has gone, all power is on. We’ll just have to label all the circuits eventually - good times!

We let Salsa’s make supper. It was yum. I am stuffded. And tahred, which is weird, since we didn’t do much today…

I have two great thoughts to share.

Thought the First: I love company. I love it when company comes to visit. I love visitatin’ with said company. Most of all, I love it when company leaves.

Thought the Second: I could get used to havin’ a kitchen staff. I did let others take care of stuff. They even cleaned up. I like to cook, but I believe directin’ a kitchen staff in the preparation of commestibles would be a thing I would very much enjoy.

Thus endeth the great thoughts.

hmm? What?

I also would like the opportunity to get used to having a kitchen staff… and a landscaping staff… and a housecleaning staff… I wish to be the Lady of the Manor!

My own fault for not marrying royalty, I guess…

<sigh>

I just want house slaves.

No, no. Bad Plant!
I am in favor of house staff  Cook when I want to (I like to cook sometimes, sometimes I like to have nice people bring me food and drink)!

Definitely like having the house cleaned for me. Best thing about business trips. Other people cook and clean.

No idea what din-din shall be tonight, Leftovers I think.

We’re watching Twin Peaks. We’ve been watching Wayward Pines, which reminded us of Twin Peaks. Twin Peaks is much, much better. But, candidly, I think they’re both annoying. Just ugh.

I prefer to do it myself. Speaking of which, dinner is Honey Teriyaki chicken with green tea rice and sesame sake broccoli with shitake mushrooms. Hockey in 30.

We have been invitated to have a <snerk> Quickie! <snerk> N.O.L. after deheathenization tomorrow. I hope they have their nummy poke roast on the menu. I got me a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for poke roast.

Ok, we shall now go lie upon the bed and stare at teevee until sleepy time which may not be too long for da bear. I’s tahrd!

Nitey Nite Y’all!

The same argument/“discussion” keeps breaking out on Facebook in a specific group I belong to. I have no horse in that particular race and I’m having an odd craving for popcorn. :stuck_out_tongue:

First day of my 2-day craft sale today. I’m amazed at how many people today thought that my (real, edible) doughnuts were decorative craft items, and that my (decorative craft-item) pianos were made of chocolate.

Ice cream has been ingested. The day is winding down. Hope I can sleep tonight. The attempt will be made soon.

MWAH!

My day has not been a thing of joy.

We’ve had some issues with intermittent radiator leakage for a while. We’ve been trying to nurse it along until DH’s job starts, but today, that stopped being an option.

The drive to work went fine, right up until I exited the freeway. Waiting at a stoplight, steam suddenly started pouring out from under the hood. Yelled expletive startled my passenger awake very effectively. Pulled over, noticed overflow reservoir bubbling away (with the cap still on. Not a good sign). While I’m evaluating this mess, a car pulls up behind me. It’s my supervisor. Not that he’s any better at cars than I am, but at least he could get my passenger (a co-worker of mine) to work on time, and knew I had a very good reason for tardiness. Once things cooled enough that I could open the cap, I added water, babied the car the remaining half-mile (or so) to work. Called DH, informed him he would need to handle this, since he had the day off and I did not. Problems included getting the car about 17 miles to a friend of ours who’s a mechanic and was willing to help (once we got in touch with him) and coming up with the money (DH turned to the Bank of Mom (NFCM)).

DH was also apparently in a somewhat helpless mode, which made eating lunch a challenge around his asking me for info I’d already texted to him, trying to get ME to handle arranging towing, etc. I finally got so fed up, especially since I really needed to EAT, that I stopped taking calls. So he calls my supervisor (they’ve known each other for about ten years now, since DH worked for him). Thankfully, supervisor didn’t get upset about it.

Throw in the usual disgusting smells, heat, etc., and today blew.

Therapy pizza is required.
