I’m not Mr. Swampington (Thank Og) but does anyone else think the pillows & ruffles make the bed look like an owl?
Would you want to sleep in something that’s known for being nocturnal?
I posted a link to that bedding on my niece’s FB page. She wasn’t nearly as delighted as I thought she should be. Nor was my daughter. I wonder if it’s too late to cancel the orders…??

No, that’s a joke. I wouldn’t cancel.

That’s a joke, too. I didn’t buy the bedding. But I did see some on the site that I liked, and I’ve been wanting to replace ours, so I may make an order anyway. Not the ruffles, tho
Thanks. The boy said that the low was in the eighties (night before last) and he has a digital desk thermometer and recurring insomnia, so he might be right.
The baby pictures will happen when I get around to figuring out how I want to do that on the internet. She is mostly bald and smiles a lot. We think she’s cute.
Last night was cooler, which was good. The Roto Rooter guy didn’t show up until nearly ten. It’s a yearly thing. While he was working the pipes, it started to very barely rain. Tiny drips here and there. By this morning it was almost sprinkling and enough had fallen overnight to darken the sidewalks. The dirt still looked dry. I suspect we can’t say that the drought has ended.
Oh, yeah. Found one skeeter bite early this morning. Probably from chaperoning the RR guy. It’s new. Didn’t have a bump when I first started scratching.
I’m off work and waiting for the dishwasher repair man. BRAND.NEW.DISHWASHER that I got to use exactly once and then it refused to work. I am NOT PLEASED. My appointment window is between 9:00 and 12:00. This was not a cheap dishwasher.
The weather is beautiful and I’d like to be out enjoying it, but I can’t because of waiting on the repair.
In really good news, my son should be home by the evening sometime. He’s rented a UHaul to haul all his stuff home. I don’t know how we’ll find room for it. I do know we’ll be getting rid of his old bed (donating it) along with donating some other stuff. That should open up his room some so he can set up his bed and bring in his computer desk and various storage cubbies he bought while a college student. I don’t know how long he’ll be here. I hope he can find a job locally so he can live here for a bit and not worry about rent AND student loan repayment.
Well, that’s all the news from the glorious PNW.
I got nothing.
I need to go drag my behind downtown and get one of my clarinets back from the repair shop.
**Taters **- what an awful way to waste a day! I’m stuck, too - waiting for the gutter cleaning guys to show up. All I was told was “after noon” - well, it’s after noon and they’re not here yet!!! <insert much feet stamping and fist waving>
Not that I intended to go anywhere anyway, but still…
It’s 67 amurkin. After a few days of over 100 I’m hoping for something slightly cooler today. Looks like it should be about 80. We’ll see. I don’t trust 'em.
Electrician is coming by today to give me a quote for putting in ceiling fans. This house does not have ceiling lights. I got some nice ceiling fan/lights at CostCo and I’m finally getting them putting in. I’m looking forward to having a light over the dining room table. To having fans in the bedrooms!
Star, the 10 pound ball of fluff, is continuing to settle in well. The cats aren’t completely sure what she is. In their experience, 10 pound animals are CATS not DOGS. They are baffled.
Visit the doc tomorrow for the one week check. Work is apparently going to hell in handbasket without me. I am trying to avoid all knowledge of the same.
We have ceiling fans in all of the bedrooms, plus in the kitchen and the family room. I love 'em. Snotty designers on HGTV may badmouth 'em, but we use ours all the time.
We’ve got an electrician coming on Saturday to replace our circuit box. The one that’s in there is overloaded and pretty poor quality. One of FCD’s coworkers is a licensed electrician in the county and he’s going to install a better box with more circuits. Which means we’ll be without power much of Saturday. It’s supposed to hit 90° on Saturday… maybe we can pull out the generator and at least hook up a fan to it. We shall see.
Meanwhile, the gutter guys are here. YAY!! I just need to drug Higgs to get her to shut up. Idiot dog!
The repairman has come and gone and I am one unhappy person right now.
Dishwasher was delivered 28 May and installed 29 May. I got to use it ONE time. Had to wait over a week for a repairman to come. Failure code 84. Wash motor broke. Repairman has to order part and it’ll be another week before it can be repaired.
It shouldn’t even need a repair. It shouldn’t have broken down. I plan to call the place I purchased it from and see if they will replace it without question and without it affecting my warranty. I doubt it, but I can try. The warranty says I have to let them try to repair it twice and if I demand and get a replacement, they’ll consider my warranty fulfilled. Bullshit. I paid a lot of money for that and my other appliances.
sunny, if you really want to confuse the felines, get a chihuahua or yorkie. Dogs the size of a squirrel gets the wheels turning in their little kitteh brains.
Half an hour and $100 later, our gutters are clear. He said we should plan to have them done again in December after all the leaves are down. Considering the cost of a gutter helmet, we can have these guys come twice a year for 20 years and still not pay as much. So I think the choice not to get the helmet was the right one.
**Taters **- you’re right - that is awful. What brand is the dishwasher? Our GE is 11 years old and humming right along. The only issue is the rusted out section of the top rack. The model is so old, we can’t get a replacement rack. So we’ll deal…
Dumb ass bill collectors still keep calling.
The lawyer said to let them know I am being represented by the law firm and the collector acted like she had no idea what is going on.
Whatever lady, keep playing dumb, and keep on calling.
The more times they call the more money I (should) get.
Unfortunately I lost a bunch of proof when my cable company switched phone service, but I told the lawyer it won’t matter. I get at least one call a day every day from each of them.
Plus once the novelty wears off they are basically bun-sized. ![]()
(Just kidding. Actually I would probably keep the dog and cook the cats. )

I think appliances talk among themselves. DH’s spiffy new embroidery machine went loco a couple weeks ago after an internal plug wiggled loose, soon to be followed by the microwave/exhaust fan going utterly dead. Repair guy came out and found a loose plug inside Chef Mike. Sorry to hear that your dishwasher isn’t sidelined by a loose plug as well - that might have completed a trinity.

It is a Federal Pacific box that was installed by Thomas Edison?
It amazes me how long some people live with antique wiring. When we were house-shopping ten years ago, there were several places we looked at that still had fuses.
This house was built in '75, so the circuit box isn’t too terribly ancient. However, the previous owners did a lot of “iffy” stuff - who knows what they did with the wiring?? And since **FCD **added the compressor, the mill, the lathe, and my kiln, there was some doubling up that really shouldn’t have happened. That’s why I have to turn off the breakers to the dryer and the compressor before I use the kiln.
Plus, apparently some of the breakers don’t seat solidly - the electrician showed **FCD **some arcing when he jiggled the breakers. Yeah, fire hazard and all that. So we’re going to have a 200 amp box with plenty of circuits mounted on a new board (the previous mount was kinda sorta pieced together with several pieces of wood  ) and life will be good. At least there weren’t fuses.
There is a red tailed hawk on the tree outside my window! Just hanging out!
Cool. ![]()
FCM, it’s a fancy new KitchenAid with adjustable racks and stainless interior. It’s supposedly supposed to be one of the better ones, and it should be for nearly a thousand bucks.
My old dishwasher ran just fine, it just didn’t do a super good job cleaning anything that was stuck on the dishes. Hence, I washed the dishes before I loaded them in the dishwasher. :dubious:
I can’t express enough how disappointed and just plain irritated I am right now.
Yeah - Kitchen Aid is supposed to be a good brand. Sounds like you got one that slipped thru quality control. That sucketh!
