Slacker-shaming MMP

Good morning or bad morning depends on whether you were mad at him or not?
I was almost done with shoveling the driveway when my one neighbor (who had just finished hers) walks up & asks if I need any help just as my other neighbor from the next street walks up the other way. I respond by saying, “You can help me do this” as I pick up some snow on the shovel & fling it at the neighbor from the next street. As it hits her, she pulls her hands from behind her back (where she had been hiding a large snowball) & throws it at me. I used my shovel like a baseball bat & destroyed it. Juvinilety at its best!

You’ll roux the day you posted a cooking pun.
Off to work, but the apartment is vacuumed.

Howdy from the den! Came down with the plague and spent the week using Kleenex and hiding with 3 cats and 2 dogs. They thought this all day lyin’ around was a fine idea!

The kids are agitating for a movie viewing today: Strange Magic. Just checked the reviews and I’m scared. There should be a warning manual before you have kids that includes things like: and thou shalt see every BAD animated film made for the next 15 years.

The bread is baked. Shortly, I will heat up some of the leftover veggie soup and slice the bread. yum!

The sun is out. It won’t last long, but these days, we take whatever we can get.

Ok, smarties, it’s actually gotten worse here. Apparently something is going on with the septic system - perhaps it’s full or clogged - and whenever the pump runs the poo water goes to the weakest link in the system (toilet above our bed) and exits forcefully. At this point we’re talking new carpets and repainting the walls and possibly new wallpaper in the kitchen.

We tried making and canning jelly, but apparently didn’t cook the stuff enough as we now have presumably sterile sealed jars of really thick syrup. Tasty, but not jelly. Turns out that when they say boil, they mean BOIL and not simmer.

The funny thing is we were using some super secret family recipe that we were able to cajole from a friend, but surprise, surprise, the same exact recipe was on the box of pectin. :dubious:

On the plus side, we scored a nice sturdy kitchen island from Ikea’s as-is area. Looks like they’re tossing out almost all of their kitchen stuff with a new line coming next month, so there was a ton of discontinued stuff being sold for cheap.

yeah, gotti, boil means boil. I’ve never made jelly, but for jams, you need to have it going at a rolling boil for a full minute by the clock. And it sounds like you’ve got some fruity topping for pancakes and french toast - all you’ll need is some sliced fresh fruit!

Two-day-old leftover soup with freshly baked bread is a yum supper! I’s now stuffded! Cake later. Reclining now.

MWAH!

Howdy Y’all! We’re back from our jaunt up to Ye Olde Home Towne. Actually been back for half an hour. We had a great time but fve hours ridin’ round trip has worn both of us out. Mom (N.O.M.) was thrilled to get her pee-kahns. 'Twas great to visit with Mom, Frank, and Sis. 'Twas great to get back to da cave as well.

StickyBuns ICK! Hope it’s not too bad to get it all fixed or too expensive.

gotti sounds like a possible good toppin’ for ice cream as well.

{{{sunny}}} hope you’re feelin’ better.

Don’t think anything will happen dindin wise tonight. We’s both stuffded from eatin’ a hyuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge N.O.L. I know I scarfed down half a dozen fried green 'maters amongst other stuff. OYKW et his share as well.

Sticks arg! Sounds nasty!

The movie was… Interesting. Someone took their iTunes playlist and made a movie out of it. it’s good to be George Lucas. Parts of it were really good, and parts of it were hide-behind-the-couch bad. (I used to hide behind the couch when I was little and embarrassed for the dumbasses on TV.). The kiddos loooooved it.

Now to figure out din-din.

A great niece and I have been hurlin’ Shakespearean insults at each other on facebook. Tell me I don’t know how to up a Sattidy night!

Now, however, OYKW and I are goin’ to pile up in bed to watch teevee, etc until sleepy time. We’s tahrd!

Nitey Nite Y’all!

gotti, I’d shoot for ice cream topping with your syrup.

sticky, I hope your home owners/renters insurance covers your damage. Yuck!

When I got out of my coffee meeting, it was in the forties and turning out to be a lovely afternoon. I dropped by the Asian market for veggies and Tuesday Morning for bargains. When I got home, there was a package at my door froma friend:a box of SF chocolates and a couple of bars! Dessert for a couple of weeks.

This is interesting. I wish I would have thought about doing that when I was a kid. I hate watching shows and being embarrassed for the people in it!

FCM, I never had a chance to say it this morning, but that is absolutely wonderful that your daughter scored so high! Good for her. I did well, for being a new teacher, on my midterm evaluation, but I found out many ways that I can do better for the one that I have in the Spring.

I hope that the insurance will cover some of it, too, but my dad doesn’t seem to think so. I don’t know why. I hope he’s wrong.

I need to figure out how to plan an affordable foreign destination vacation for a week with 3 kids and two adults that will cost less than 2,000 including travel expenses. I’d settle for Canada at this point  I am just tired of the 3 hr drive mini vacations to state parks or zoos.

At that budget I’m thinking Canada may be your best bet. What state are you starting from? Any place with incredible air-hubs in it?

Memphis, so technically an international hub. I’d have better luck if we were being shipped FedEx though

You just need a very large box, bottled water, MREs, a porta potty and maybe a TV. Maybe a laptop with a CD player.

Had to put in overtime this week AND work today, so I haz a tired. Got some groceries – had a hankering for mooocow and found a nice-looking chunk of skirt steak, so that’s sitting in a soy-sauce-pineapple-juice bath for tonight. Nibbling on dark chocolate and contemplating some beading projects I want to start; I don’t have the energy for more.

Oh, and I gotta tell I guy I started seeing that I’m just not that into him. He wanted to hang out tomorrow and I just DONWANNA and that’s not fair to him.

Maybe settle for the San Juan islands so I don’t have to get passports for the kids.

Worked, took Gordie out. I’m off tomorrow, so I get to watch back to back All Star Games.

Sticky ,ick. Hope it gets fixed fast.

Good grief - it’s the last week of January already! Feels like it was just Christmas…

Already, I’m having second thoughts about the resume I sent out yesterday. I kinda hope they don’t call me for an interview. It’s a funny situation. While I’m not on social security yet, I get a supplement paid by the gummint that covers what SS will be when I hit 62.

Full retirement age is 65, so for the next 4 years, I’m covered by this limit. And right now, my monthly pension payments are reduced because in 2013, I earned over the limit.

It’s not a big deal if I plan for it and save to make up the difference when I quit working but I just don’t know if I want to deal with it. Yeah, I know, first world problems. The other thing is that spring will eventually be here and there’s lots I want to do in my yard. On the other hand, if this job is part-time - like 3 days a week, it might be worth it. But if they don’t call, it’s all conjecture anyway.

I’ve said it before - it’s difficult being me!!

On the other hand, the weather forecast has been modified - we’re now predicted to get less than an inch of snow. However, the long-range forecast shows lows in the teens for several nights in the next 10, and that does NOT amuse me!

However, today may have some sun, so there’s that.

Happy Sunday!
