Sliding into May in the MMP

Blurfage. Not even a bolded Blurfage. Swampy sugar in grits? Why, I never!

Up, dog walked, cat fed and I am still sleepy. Maybe I shall try to sleep a little longer.

Happy Sunday y’all!

doggio, the Bullitt rye was why I took a gamble on the bourbon. Those folks know how to make whiskey.

Up, breakfasting, caffeinating and will purtify and go to heathenate this morning.

Morning all. Have attended to the morning duties, will break my fast shortly. 62F outside, the rain is supposed to have departed but I don’t know if the grass will dry out enough to mow it today or not.

Cupcakes, glad the Godzilla festival went well; saw a preview for the newest 'Zilla movie before Avengers: Endgame, may be somewhat better than the first reboot.

Sari, you remind me of feeding a feral cat who had hurt it’s leg in Abu Dhabi…put out a can of food and a bowl of water each morning for it, was even getting it to come inside the house, then it disappeared…

All y’all have a good Sunday now…must solve my Sudoku’s at the present.

Actually I’m off today. So I’m making more coffee and listeining to Gordie snore.

Peach, pineapple and homegrown banana smoothies are good. I have a mess in the kitchen I must clean and some laundry, of course. I don’t know what I shall cook yet but cook I shall. I did a beef roast in the fast pot and it was very good. There are leftovers that shall be brunch once I get the dishwasher unloaded and reloaded.

Doggioo enjoy your day off.

Went to go check on the bees this afternoon- unusually, the guy whose land they’re on was also planning on checking on his (intending to try find the queen, which I’m pretty good at and he isn’t). I also needed a bit of a hand getting some kit in to where the hives are, as it involved getting past his pet sheep, who get all excited and think they’re being fed sheepy treats. So, we decided to go together.
It was a bit, um, interesting. Went through mine first- in retrospect, I should have given more attention to the number of ties he commented on how docile mine were. Then opened the first of his.

Now, there are two basic approaches to going through a hive; you can either armour yourself up like a tank and not care if you annoy them or not (which you will if you have thick gloves on, you can’t be delicate wearing those things), or you can wear thinner gear to get more dexterity, so you can be careful and not annoy them, but increase your chances of being stung if you do. I go for approach 2, turns out he’s in camp 1. Result; a lot of pissed off bees, and me with lightweight gear on. Got quite a few stings and had to run away in the end… We did not find the queen.

Anyway, I shall make sure I have thicker trousers and gloves if I try help him out again!

On another note, researching for this last assignment, I came across this gem: what it should have said ‘[species] is a perennial fern’. What it actually said: ‘[species] is a perineal fern’.
 I’d see a doctor about that

We just finished installing the 2" conduit in the shop. Next step is pulling the wire… rah. First, tho, we both need a break. Being an electrician ain’t for wusses!

Blurf. We have more company coming. Hubby’s daughter and husband and their daughter will be here sometimes today. Of course, they are not staying with us but at a local resort. One thing about living here is there is no shortage of visitors.

I do not have time for company so they are on their own as hubby has too much to do to take off. They have been here before so they know the area and know they will have to entertain themselves.

I just made lunch of leftovers. I gave the dog a bath and now it’s laundry time and maybe nap time.

Daughter, Roxy and I just ran to Food Lion. We got everything we needed, except I forgot the worcestershire sauce… again… for the 3rd time. Oh well. I don’t need it today, but I like having it on hand.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, et brunch (folks snarfed up the cheesecake!), and have achieved nappage. In a little while I shall head back over to the church house for Evensong. Don’t know if OYKW will go or not. I like Evensong (we do three a year). The music is so purty!

ETA: Butters as horrid as it may sound, and indeed is, there are savages amongst us who put sugar in grits.

For the most part I think new yorkers doth protest too much, but I will say this; they know how to make a good cheesecake. (So do I, BTW)

I don’t make grits 'cause Wifey doesn’t like 'em, but I don’t recall ever putting sugar in 'em. But I did put butter, salt and pepper. That’s okay isn’t it?

You know the trick about tying a piece of wet sponge onto a piece of line and sucking it through conduit with a vacuum, don’t you? Then you use the line to pull your wires.

We went to the greenhouse sale at the high school on Friday and got some 'mater plants, a couple of peppers plants, some Basil, and some coleus. Didn’t get any eggplants though. :frowning: Wifey likes the look of them and so we eat a lot of eggplant in the summers. Lots of caprese salads too.

Happy Cinco de Mayo! I wanted to take Wifey out for fish tacos for lunch today, but she elected to go get her toes done with the GirlChild instead. Women have weird priorities sometimes.

We will have chicken fajitas for dinner though.

Strawberry topping on good, heavy, lead-like (or even crappy, ricotta) cheesecake is worse than putting sugar in instant grits!
Person I was supposed to go to the meeting with today forgot I was going with him & left an hour earlier than he tole me to be there; this resulting in me driving the entire way. It was a shitty drive as it was about 55° & rainy. The windshield kept fogging up; this meant turn on the defroster, which uses the A/C, which made the car cold. It was a constant on defroster/off defroster/on defroster/off defroster/etc. but I is finally home about 11 hrs after leaving this moaning.

My pic in the contest that one was the one I thought was the least good of the three entered. I swear, I have not figgered out what this crowd likes.

bumba, somebody brought taco fixins to the potluck. They were good.

Speaking of the potluck, the chicken pie was wiped out. Once I got home, I took Nelson to the dog park for a bit before coming home and doing the prep work for breakfast and lunch this week. Tonight, I’ll begin making a fortieth birthday card for one of my favorite cow-orkers.

**Bumba **- the trick **FCD **heard was to use a plastic grocery bag - same idea. Plus he has a fish wire. We’ll be pulling bundles as short as 25’ and as long as 102’. Good times ahead…

Supper was pulled poke, peas-n-carrots, and assorted chips. Roxy snarfed down a bunch of poke and veggies - Brace for growth spurt! Dishes are done and chillage is underway. It’s been raining on and off all day, but from the looks of weather radar, it’s now done. Yay!

Back to my recliner. I’ll check in when I arise! Tomorrow, I mean, not when I get out of my recliner.

It’s been chilly and rainy all day.

I went to the dog park, in the rain, and was surprised at how many people were there.
The maintenance crew showed up to repair the temporary fence, and got a little rude to one of the women there whose dog was inside the fenced off area.
The fence is one of those orange plastic fences used at construction sites, how the hell are we supposed to keep our dogs out? They go under it, or a big strong dog will rip through it. Rooster and Ripple knocked down an entire section when they crashed into it while playing. Whole sections of the fence will flap in a breeze, but somehow the dogs are supposed to stay out. At least this fence is taller, the last one was so low some of the dogs just jumped over it.
I think whoever decides what kind of fence to use isn’t too experienced with dogs.

Cleaned the kitchen and bathroom and dusted, Making poke chops with cheesy chipolte **N.O.T.**s and a salad with chipolte ranch dressing. Tried a riff on the Manhattan with tequila and sangria, with orange bitters. Meh, not fruitiful enough.

The late Nelly K. Beagle used to tunnel under the fence at the dogpark the moment I blinked. But I think she was a former puppy mill dog, so I could see her need to get out of the joint.

Spidey, I’m from Wisconsin, and sugar in instant grits gives me The Vapors.

Nut, sorry about the riled up bees.

not a fan of grits but instant grits are the worst…the bad weather that was falsely claimed for the weekend was just that .
cleaned up bathrooms or tried to anyways … other than that not much goin on

Nut, hope the stings aren’t to painful. Glad your bees are doing OK.

Mooomm, if Roxy ate that much, you’ll have a spurt that ain’t growth any time now…

Sari, that plastic fence sh…stuff couldn’t stop anything, why it would be a barrier for active pooches escapes me.

Spidey, hope the friend at least had the grace to say ‘oops’.

Butters, family visits are too be tolerated, I guess…at least they know their way around.

Got the lawn mowed this evening and the clippings are bagged and out front. Emptied the gas can so need to fill it before the next mow. Big Bowl O-sallit consumed for dinner and internettin’ is on the schedule.

Catch all y’all on the next MMP.

so you mowed your own food ?:stuck_out_tongue:
