Slightly more than a 3-hour tour – a sea-going MMP

It’s late and I’m tired. Beer then bed.

Mika, i went to Diseny world when I was a kid. I think I had fun.

Tel, I like wild rides. Of course I like airline turbulance. [sup]up[/sup][sub]down[/sub] [sup]up[/sup][sub]down[/sub] [sup]up[/sup][sub]down[/sub] [sup]up[/sup][sub]down[/sub] .

I got plenty of rest on my vacation, Taters. :stuck_out_tongue:

FCM, I could help with the back rub, but I think that is FCD’s department.

Charlie - the movie? That came out not too long ago???

I went to the party and ate nummy ribs, and laughed a lot, and went swimming, and laughed a lot, and ate ice cream cake, and laughed some more. It is really nice to spend time with friends who are so much fun to be around.

The host and hostess are the sponsor family for one of our hockey players, and when they told us he was coming back early (leaving an oil field job that pays almost $300 a day) to be with his girlfriend here, we called him and told him he was whipped. All in good fun (and he knows it) - this young man is so shy it’s a suprise to think of him having the nerve to talk to a girl, let alone get serious about one. This one seems to be pretty serious, at least for the time being. Something about these Southern girls seems to hook the Canadian guys - we’ve had several marry and stay here even after their hockey career was over.

I’m not sure how we got on the subject, but one of the guests was talking about how she was web surfing looking for recipies for peanut butter balls and somehow wound up on a porn site. For the rest of the evening, all someone had to do was mention peanut butter balls and everyone cracked up. And there wasn’t that much drinking going on!

My ribs are going to be sore tomorrow from all the laughter.

Sounds like a fun evening, SCL.

I’m not a big amusement park fan. Used to like mid-sized roller coasters, but the last time I was on one, it was just really uncomfortable.

I’m up, considering going out to get some garden stuff out of the way before it’s time to go to church. I was in bed by 9:00 last night read for a while and then read for another while when I woke up in the middle of the night. Managed to put together 8 hours of sleep, though, which was my goal.

Back later, I’m sure.

Can I claim the honor of being the only Doper to see It’s A Small World when it was debuted at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York? I got that ear worm over 40 years ago… <twitch twitch>

Plus I thought it was really cool. Then again, I was 10 - what did I know?

Meeks - just so happens, I saw the Chocolate Factory fire on HBO last night - ah, memories… It cracked me up when we saw it in the theater.

My back is a bit better this morning, even tho I didn’t get a back rub. To be fair, I didn’t ask my sweetie for one - we were both exhausted. I made do with a handful of painkillers and an ice pack, and except for a residual ache, I’m fine. So far.

I actually mananged to sleep in till after 7, tho I don’t know if it counts since I woke up several times between 3 and actually getting out of bed. A certain feline was annoying me. Turns out she was out of kibble. Note to self: make sure cat has kibble before going to bed.

Today is laundry and unload the kiln day. I’m going to start glazing, too. Next weekend, we’re going to Mom’s to do some stuff for her and to deliver a dryer and to attend my brother’s 50th b-day party (shhh - it’s a surprise - don’t tell him) and while we’re in the environs of Baltimore, I want to go to the clay supply place and get some more glaze and clay. But for today, it’s mostly taking it easy for me. FCD is headed back to the boat. I feel some small regret for not helping him out, but I’d feel worse going to work in dirty underwear, so I’ll do the laundry. That wasn’t TMI, was it??

Good Morning MMP! Everyone has had their bowl of kibble for breakfast, and I’m heading out to work. Everyone enjoy your Sunday!

SCL, I think part of the reason is that people get tired of shoveling the driveway in August.

SCL, I read that, “ate some mummy ribs…” Weird. FCM, your day-off schedule exhausts me.

My pantry and fridge are very very clean, because Quasi-Daughter was here. It’s so nice.

I think I will call my parents and see if someone can take me to Costco after church and before I go to work.

dogbutler, you may have a point there. When we talked to our player yesterday, it was 15 degrees C (that was the high temp.) and they were breaking out the snowplows because of a hailstorm. This was in Red Deer, Alberta. I have never seen that much hail.

Ok, I’m awake. It’s a safe bet I won’t stay that way long. It is Sunday, Mr.SCL is at work, no one is doing lawn work…

I was right - my ribs are sore. Peanut butter balls. ::snerk::

Swampy, did you trim your beard down to a goatee and then visit my Wal-Mart the night before last? There was a man there that looked just like you, and we locked eyes in that awkward “do I know this person” way. Or to me, that’s what it was. To the man, it could have either been “hmm, I wonder if he’s single” or “Is that homo looking at me?”

I actually think that this is the second time in my WM career that I’ve asked you this, so I should probably just go track that guy down and tell him to stop the madness.

Also, I arrived to work 4 hours late yesterday because I set my alarm for PM instead of AM, and since I had just come off of overnights, my body was used to waking up late, so it let me sleep late.

Meeks, I misunderstood you. I saw the movie. It was good.

I’m glad to read your back is doing better, FCM.

I’m up earlier than I intended. I’m still sleepy, but I’m thinking I might take an afternoon nap. There’s something about a nap in the afternoon, when the sun is warm and shining, that is very pleasant.

SCL, it sounds like you had fun. It’s always fun to laugh a lot.

I’m off to cruise the Dope some more.

Something cool happened this weekend. Our store was flooded with American tourists. They came in droves. They filled the store. Our activity ranged from “busy” to “REALLY FUCKING BUSY”. They affably fumbled with their Australian money and asked for foods we didn’t have. Oh, and they also all seemed to be young men. Eventually, we realised they weren’t tourists at all, but sailors from the USS Kitty Hawk. Sweet.

Ha… like the local Burger King?

[del]So that’s where my clone got off to this time![/del] Errr… nope that wasn’t me. I have not done the goatee yet. I’m still just thinkin’ about it. Have I mentioned that I’ve been thinkin’ about doin’ that? I was in Wally*World for a bit on Thursday night, but it was the one here.

Happy Sunday y’all! I’ve got beef ribs in the crock pot. They were grilled yesterday along with some hot dogs we ate for lunch yesterday. Today they’re warming up in the crock pot with some bbq sauce. There’s a small thing of baked beans cookin’ in the oven and I stopped at the store on the way home and got some tater (N.O.T.) salad and some rolls from the deli. Lunch should be in about half an hour. I’ll be glad cause I’m hungry.

A ride based on it would be awesome, though!
Man, I just talked to my aunts for half an hour. That probably doesn’t sound like a lot to you until I tell you I have never even talked to my SO for half an hour. I am not a phone person, and they are.

I am almost embarrassed to admit that when I was in the Navy and deployed to Sicily, and I got a chance to spend a long weekend in London, the first place I went to eat was a Kentucy Fried Chicken restaurant. But with an explanation - it had been several months since I’d been in the states, and while I’d been enjoying Italian restaurants and I’d had a week in Paris to try out their cuisine, by the time I got to London, I just wanted a little taste of home. Maybe that’s what these these guys are thinking, too.

For the record, the rest of the weekend, I didn’t eat at American chains. And further, I never was that big a fan of Kentucky Fried. Homesickness makes a body do weird stuff…

What’s wrong with this picture?:

Sunday, 11AM, and I’m at my desk, at work.

:frowning:
But only long enough to format a report, test it, print route info for 2 schools, slam the laptop and head home.

I swear.

MBG - could you give us another hint? Were you wearing water wings and a tu-tu?? That’s how I pictured you…

:stuck_out_tongue:

MBG, I believe the wrongness stems from the presence of the words “Sunday” and “at work” in the same sentence from a person who normally works Monday-Friday. I’m all analytical that way.

Me, I’m hanging out on the couch, surfing. Need to get moving on the laundry and some clean-up, at least, but I really want to get rid of this nasty coughing thing BEFORE I head up to Michigan on Friday. Seem to be a bit better today, but if I’m not better during the day tomorrow, I’ll be off to see a doc in the evening.

The year I lived in Germany, I would wander into McDonald’s once every few months for the sheer comfort of it all. And I never eat at McDonald’s here.

Guess I should contemplate lunch. I’m thinking quesadillas with guacamole because I happen to have the ingredients on hand. And maybe some soup.

My tomatoes are starting to ripen, but they’re not very flavorful. Guess I won’t be planting that variety again.

Lunch is eaten and the dishes are washed. Ok, they will be washed when I turn on the dishwasher later today. ACBG left to go do some laundry and stuff at his place. I’ma take a nap. Maybe later I’ll go over to his place for a little “fluff and fold.”

I’m going home Tuesday night. Mom and Dad managed to find me a plane ticket that didn’t cost the earth and I’ll be paying them back as soon as I find a job. Right now I’m going through my stuff trying to keep only the essentials.

Is this going home to visit or going home to stay till you find a job? I know you’ve wrestled with this one…
