When I come out of the community centre after my aerobics class, it’s a nice day, and the kids are outside in the front yard of the school across the street. I love to hear little children having fun!
When I get too hot while I’m sleeping, I take my arms out from under the covers and stay that way for 10-15 minutes or until they get too cold. The feeling after I get back under the warm blankets is so…nice.
Bolding mine.
You have a foot and a hoof?!

Yup! Mom was frightened by a horse whilst pregnant with me.
Early spring morning bird songs - there’s a special quality to them that I don’t understand, and I don’t want to understand, because sometimes you should just stop and listen.
Sliding into fresh sheets - crisp and cool with that faint hint of warm cotton
A hot shower on aching muscles and a cool shower after a day of gardening
On a long drive on a hot day, stopping to get a soda and use the restroom, then getting back in the car, turn on the a.c. and keep on driving with a full drink and an empty bladder.
When my kids were tweens I would take them out for dinner at places like Friendly’s on a regular basis, my wife often wasn’t able to go, so it was just me and them.
One evening an older woman walked up to me as she was leaving and complemented me on how well behaved the children were. The best thing was, they were just being themselves without any effort–they were happy and playing quietly without disturbing anyone.
I guess that wasn’t just a “small” nice moment. That kind of comment endures.
Here’s one literally no one but me will put.
When I have meetings (especially multiple ones) at work.
I am in a job that’s just important enough to need to be in meetings, but not important enough to have to run them or be heavily involved in them. Which means I know that that’s 30-60 minutes of my day that I’m working, but not at my desk and doing my normal job.
It’s essentially a wasted hour of the day that either brings me closer to lunch (where I can get outside and read) or closer to the end of the day when I can pick up Mrs. Cups and we go home.
I came home the other day and found 8 6-packs of Canfield’s Diet Chocolate Fudge Soda stacked up next to my computer desk. My Beloved remembered that I loved the stuff but couldn’t find it anywhere, so she found a store in Texas that still had it and Amazoned it. In fact, I’m sipping a cold can o’ chocolate even as I type this.
I have a coworker who feels that way about our staff meetings. I sometimes feel that way if it’s a meeting where I’m there in a “FYI” capacity. My only problem is that the meetings are usually boring and there’s only so many “Notes” I can take over a half hour or longer.
A boy in my cashier line was holding a toy. I rang it up first, bagged it, and handed it back to him. Then I did his mother’s items and completed the sale.
As they were leaving, the boy said “Did you see that, Mom? She put the toy in the bag and gave it to me, and I didn’t even have to ask her to do it. How cool is that?”
And I always thank grown ups if their children are well behaved. My standard line is “I see enough of the other ones.”
When one of my cats brings me a toy as a gift- chattering all the way.
And eagles, cardinals, and black squirrels never fail to brighten my day.
The littlest Torqueling is a huge momma’s girl. Momma gets all the love and hugs and kisses, and Daddy gets none. It’s just how she is.
But, every now and then, something peeks through the lining. A couple of days ago I was helping her read some [url=]Bob books, because she’s just starting to read (she does sit on my lap for stuff like that). With a little help, she was getting through the books on her own. She ran and told Momma that she read three books by herself, and then she was so excited that, without thinking, she grabbed my legs from behind in a big hug. Then she realized what she was doing and stopped.
Spontaneous little-girl hugs. Ain’t nothin’ better.
A few days ago: me on a ladder outside, installing support brackets for the deck planters I built. My screw gun driver is magnetic, but as any handyman knows, if you bump against something, the screw will fall off. Since my position was awkward, I had to hold on with one hand while driving the screw with the other. I managed to get to the last screw before the inevitable happened. Bump. . .screw falls off. . .and lands in my shirt pocket. WIN!
Just did this last night:
I bought another shelving unit for the basement, really nice, 6’ high with wide deep shelves, from Sam’s Club. My husband put it together and then I started organizing it. I put the giant box of TP, the paper towels, bottled water, garbage bags, etc. on it. I then cleared off my husband’s workbench and also organized a bunch of boxes of stuff for a future rummage sale. When I went in the basement this morning, it was like a ray of light was shining and the trumpets were sounding. Everything in its place!
Nice.
Sitting on the deck eating cereal & drinking coffee before leaving for work.
I get up 45 mins earlier on beautiful Spring and Summer mornings to relax on the deck and watch the sky. I love being out there just after the sun comes up.
It puts me in a wonderful mood and ready to deal with the office.
