Back to work for me. Still adjusting to the major beard shrinkage caused by the surgeon. The expected swelling and discomfort are both decreasing. First post-op visit next week, then somewhere near Thanksgiving, they turn it on.
I tells you, it has been quite the week here! In the past seven days, this region has survived a widespread power outage, a small swarm of earthquakes, and an explosion and fire at a nearby refinery tank farm that shut down Interstate 80 for several hours. A friend’s normal 15 minute drive home exploded into a four hour slog.
I had a salad for lunch.
Both dogs were bugging me so I gave them some carrots. Ripple doesn’t care much for carrots but Echo was happily scarfing them down.
So I thought.
Nope, I have a little pile of carrots on the floor next to my chair.
Whew - it’s been an afternoon and a half here, but I finished all the drawings for Brent - all 15 of 'em! Definitely glad I don’t have to come in here this weekend.
And as I wrote this, I got an email saying they were to be numbered M09xxxx instead of M049xxx as I thought. Dammit. They’ll all have to get redone next week unless they’re super hot.
Back from the grocery store. I needed eggs for home and junk food and fruit for here at irk…now to get home with the eggs. Can’t find my debit card but the last time it was used was yesterday for gas so I’m gonna check in my dirty pants pockets before I cancel it. I really hope it is there. It’s a real pain in the ass to change stuff. Anyway, I got some Honey Crisp apples big as grapefruits and very good. I also got the first pomegranates of the season. The clerk had to ask what they were and how to eat one.
I am tahred. So glad tomorrow is Firday. Gotta figure out who is helping the Sat girl cause it ain’t gonna be me. My newest girl can work but she has only been here a few days so not a lot of help there, but it is another body for the Sat girl who is lacking in confidence. The joys of management.
Sunny Pixel is a great doggie name. So is Echo Sari.
**sari **- Poppy would have been a good name! In my first post-retirement job, I worked with a woman named Echo. She kept calling me Melissa - I guess all them “M” names are confusing… :dubious: Despite that, she was a flake - the kind the forwarded bogus hoax emails. I didn’t miss her when she quit.
There’s a little girl who’s signed up with Make A Wish Foundation. Her wish is to have her street lined with jack o’lanterns. I thought the idea was for everyone to buy a pumpkin, carve it, have a little contest, and then donate the jack o’lanterns to Make A Wish. So I bought a nice pumpkin ($2.99 from Trader Joe’s), and I carved it just now since I’ll be telecommuting tomorrow. Turns out the other pumpkins were bought by the office. Oh, well. I can spend three bucks on Make A Wish.
Flyboy you are a good egg too. And I remembered to bring my eggs home so sup shall be breakfast. Quick, easy and with minimal clean up.
I am mucho pissed at the jungle. Ordered a 24 pack of dog food for Buddy and when I opened the box the rotten smell bout knocked me down. Further inspections shows a or more than one container (tray) has exploded and rotted and there were signs some sort of bugs is or has been in resident. The box cost me $28 and some change. Now I gotta put that stinking shit in my car and haul it to the ups store? It is out on the porch now. Dammit.
The potluck at irk went well today. My grandboss smoked some righteous brisket (nod to the OP) and the rest of us filled out the menu.
Tonight is the first normal evening at home in a week. I need that. A week from tomorrow, Sis will be back, but just for the night before heading back to Houston.
Work was ------- interesting. Fun just just plain odd. We basically did 5.5 hours work in 4 hours; all the stars were in alignment and everyone had their A-game on. Which meant the managers had to find a lot busy work for us. I happened to notice some new supplies that had never been unpacked and that allowed us to be productive as well as killing time. But -------- if it happens again will I spot something again? Ah, its always an adventure!
We look to be cold for good and while smoking stuff tomorrow I may just pull in the second AC. Will see how inspired I get after chopping wood and all that fun stuff.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 53 Amurrkin out and clear (well, dark) with a predicted high of 74 and cloudy for the day. Rain is allegedly movin’ in tonight and tomorrow. We shall see. I shall accomplish some [del]church janitor[/del] Junior Warden duties this mornin’ as well as run some errands since I shall be out and about. After that, who knows. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants food. Then, bother, alas, and alack, I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire.
Up too early, woke at 4:30 and couldn’t find Echo, then when I found her and she came to bed, Ripple wouldn’t let me sleep. I finally got up, let them out, then Ripple disappeared on me. I had to put my shoes on and go out to see what he was up to. Of course as soon as I stepped outside he came running up to see me.
I don’t know what is up with Ripple, he is not himself this morning. He is being very clingy and demanding of attention.
And Adam is being a bit of a brat too, teasing the puppy knowing damn well that he will get caught, held down, and chewed on.
It’s a not too horrible 48 degrees outside. TWPTB had predicted 36 this morning, so 48 is a pleasant surprise.
Not too much on the agenda for today. Dog park, irk, laundry, and vacuuming, lots of vacuuming. Also, if the wind dies down, picking up all the yard waste that got blown around yesterday. I should think about taking off irk early and hauling all of it to the dump today.
Amazon woes for me too, although it’s not really Amazon, it’s the USPS. I was supposed to get a package on Toosday, only it seems that somehow it got sent back to Baltimore. I can ask for a refund or a replacement, but I’ll see what happens today.
Butters, I would call Amazon and complain, they’ll probably tell you to keep the package and will send a replacement. That’ll save you a trip to the UPS Store.
Also up too early on my day off. Actually, I woke at my regular time, but I slothed in bed with my tablet till almost 7. As I left my room, I heard Roxy, so I got her changed and fed. She’s watching Sesame Street now while I do my morning surfing. In an hour or so, I’ll get her in real clothes and we’ll go erranding. I won’t take a babby in jammies in public!
I closed up the house and turned on the furnace yesterday. It’s set at 67° and it came on several times that I heard. Low 40s outside this morning. I guess summer is finally over for sure (she says as she frets about angering the weather gods…)
Isn’t pet sibling rivalry fun? I suspect that may be part of Ripple’s problem, actually. He wants to make sure he still has his share of the love and goodies.
Home from the park, had breakfast, now logged in to irk.
I decided to take stuff to the dump on Wednesday when the pups aren’t here. Then I don’t have to worry them getting out while we are loading the truck.
You are probably right Nettie, although I think it was more about him wanting to leave for the park.
Sari I just call the jungle and they told me to toss the box and are issuing me a refund. The offered to send me another box but No thanks. I ain’t feeding my dog that.
At irk. Overslept and was late again. It is not a big deal I just need to make up the time by next Thursday. So one day I will have to come to irk extra early. But tis Firday so there is that.
Happy Weekend All. It sounds like some of you went straight to winter with no fall. Still hot as blazes here.
