Smokin' in the MMP

Morning all. Soccer coaching until 8pm last night then switched between tackleball and baseball all night.

Had a headache from soccer. We played a game last night, everything seemed to go well (I refereed). Other coach sent me an e-mail saying his son had been taunted by my assistant coach, who has vehemently denied doing so. Didn’t need to wake up to that this morning.

Guess the weather has changed for good, got the ‘big’ comforter out of storage and need to get the ‘small’ comforter dry cleaned. Also turned on the heat for the first time this fall. 59F now going to 72F.

Spidey, if doggio didn’t have a blue ribbon, we know that he is no true Scotsman…

ruble, ain’t it fun when the bosses have to scramble because you’re too competent…

To everyone else, hugs, tears and grins as required. Need to make some chee-burgers now.

Back from erranding - I accomplished most of what I wanted to do. Roxy and I have lunched, and she’s napping. SIL left for work. **FCD **is lunching now. I’m going to assume the afghaning position while the RoxStar is unconscious. We’ll see what the afternoon brings…

Call – we are really good to our customers.

As for you; my guess is it arrived at the USPS damaged and they refused to try to deliver it. Trust me – I remember some of the pallets we sent them with crushed boxes all over the bottom. It happens. Not us but –

It was beautiful. That mixture of pure pride and panic was a joy to behold.
Well the first of the meat is in the smoker; pork butt. I love big butts and I can’t deny …

Some steaks and other stuff will go in about 3.

I always enjoyed chopping wood. Kinda a zen thing for me.

Lazy day ahead for me. I wanna go by the anmal shelter and get some glucosimine tablets for Vinnie. He has arthritis and they have big bottles of the stuff on sale. Hey, it works for him.

Also need to go to the store for chickie parts and something else I’ve forgotten.

That’s it. Maybe I’ll make a batch of soap this afternoon. We’ll see.

I’ve decided dinner tonight will be turkey burgers and sallit. Easy-peasy.

I like to get fancy with my splits; setting the head and then reversing it on the “second swing” and letting the wood basically split itself and that sort of thing. I also keep three axes sharp and in the living room. a medium Michigan, a Truper 3.5 pound Michigan, and an old double-bit that trips the scales at 6 pounds for the head alone.

And we don’t even want to get into hatchets.

I enjoy chopping things way too much.

:stuck_out_tongue:

I think Fall is finally inching its way in. Cloudy skies off and on for a few days now, and lower temperatures.

Akiko has had breakfast, but she’s watching me very carefully in case food suddenly leaps out.

I don’t think much will get done today.

Happy Thursday everyone.

I hope it paid a deposit, it can ruin the carpets.

It’s start of the skool half-term holidays here, so I get next week off. I volunteered to irk the next two Sattidays at the old cleaning job, back before I quit. Kinda regretting that now; though extra money is always nice, I think I’d prefer the days off. Been far too busy lately.

I’m then heading of for a few days from Sunday, so visit people and get out of the county. Should be pleasant and fairly relaxed (I’m getting the coach so I don’t have to drive), though I’m planning on doing skool irk while I’m there.

Happy weekend, those who celebrate!

Productive afternoon, too! I ran to the credit union, then to Food Lion, then to the college to sign up for the sign language class, then to the pharmacy for FCD’s meds. Pizza will magically show up for supper. Daughter et al are running errands and eating out.

It’s been a good day.

Went out for my 2.13 mile walk. Stopped at the corner market (⅔ mile away) and got SWMBO a Coke, and I got some cream for alfredo sauce. It rained all the way. Someone stopped well short of an intersection and motioned me across. (Really unnecessary.) I dropped my bag. I should see if I can find the glass cream bottle and put the cream in it, just in case the carton leaks.

Not productive for me at all. I took a nap, and a long shower.
I managed to carry some laundry upstairs, but haven’t put it away yet.
My son vacuumed the living room, but nothing else got vacuumed

All the meat turned out terrific and many a fine meal will be had. Later. Tomorrow is Lutheran Church Basement pork and kraut. And we never miss that. Church Lady food is the BEST!

Today I would volunteer to use my head for research, if only I could survive without it. Not a good day. :frowning:

Akiko is sitting on the back stoop, just in case a bird tries to come in or something. She is Very Serious about this. :stuck_out_tongue:

Trying to decide what to order to feed the horde. Someone suggested pizza. Maybe…

Howdy Y’all! I managed chores and errands this mornin’ and managed sloth all afternoon. Have I mentioned lately how much I like bein’ retired? Majik Intartoobz Pizza and sallit (to make it healthy) got ingested and since then chillage has ensued. Later tonight and tomorrow will be very wet. Tropical Storm Nestor (really? Nestor?) will pay us a visit. Thus, tomorrow will definitely be a stay inside day. We shall laze about and nosh on sammiches, chips, and other assorted junk food. OK, I will actually make beast stew and cornbread for sup purposes.

Nuts HAR! How long did you sit on that one before gettin’ a chance to use it. Have fun on your trip.

Stayed home today. Both DH and I were feeling unwell, so I told grandboss when I called in that I was claiming a partial FMLA day and using PTO for the rest.

Magic Internet groceries have arrived and been sorted out. One oddity: seems like when I have a lot of heavy stuff, the delivery driver is a small woman (so I feel bad about being lazy about hauling stuff). Today, my order was pretty lightweight, but did include certain feminine needs. Driver was male.

Yes, I know grown men are aware of such matters, even those gents such as The Ursine One who do not share living space with women. Still a little awkward for me dealing with such supplies with a man I don’t know. Even after 24 years of marriage, DH still won’t pick those up for me.

I always seem to remember one or two more items just after the window to edit the order closes.

Howdy y’all!

Irked, took Nelson to the dog park (his dachshund buddy Watson was there, he hadn’t seen him for a couple of weeks), grabbed a patty melt from Shake -N- Steak and came home to chill.

Trader Joe’s lobster ravioli tonight. I made some alfredo sauce to go with it. That was like twice the amount of carbohydrates I usually have in a day (40 g minus 3 g fibre, plus the sauce). I’m having some wine.

The ravioli, which came from the refrigerated section, wasn’t bad. Not great, but good.

My hubby never had a problem fetching those products or going out for chocolate in the middle of the night. Or fruit or whatever I wanted but didn’t have.

We had Firday night Filet Mignon. Twas very good. We are all abed. Except I am not sleepy yet so shall find something to watch on Netflix. Been trying to get into Mindhunter. We shall see.

TGIF Seriously.

Because he’s afraid he’ll come home with an expensive boat & twuck.
A young man from Minnesota moves to Florida and goes to a big “everything under one roof” department store looking for a job.

The Manager says, “Do you have any sales experience?” The kid says “Yeah. I was a salesman back in Minnesota .”

Well, the boss liked the kid and gave him the job. “You start tomorrow. I’ll come down after we close and see how you did.”

His first day on the job was rough, but he got through it. After the store was locked up, the boss came down. “How many customers bought something from you today?”

The kid says “One”.

The boss says “Just One? Our sales people average 20 to 30 customers a day. How much was the sale for?”

The kid says “$101, 237.65”.

The boss says “$101,237.65? What the heck did you sell?”

The kid says, “First, I sold him a small fish hook. Then I sold hi m a medium fishhook. Then I sold him a larger fishhook. Then I sold him a new fishing rod. Then I asked him where he was going fishing and he said down the coast, so I told him he was going to need a boat, so we went down to the boat department and I sold him a twin engine Chris Craft. Then he said he didn’t think his Honda Civic would pull it, so I took him down to the automotive department and sold him that 4x4 Expedition.”

The boss said, “A guy came in here to buy a fish hook and you sold him a BOAT and a TRUCK?”

The kid said "No, the guy came in here to buy Tampons for his wife, and I said, ‘Dude, your weekend’s shot, you should go fishing.’ "
Up, sheveling, sheveling some more…it’s 30-freakin four out there! Going up to sixty-sumpin’.

Reason #52 to hate Fall.

Good morning (again) everyone. First up today, I think – working on first cuppa coffee.

Spent the last two days with contractors in the house fixing the problem I asked the Dope about in this thread. I’ve been helping out some, as I’m not new to tools nor wiring and the contractor (seriously) offered me a part time job. He assumed I might be bored in retirement, I guess.

So, after an entire day with no power and two days of work, the “widow maker” circuits have been removed and replaced with modern, up to code stuff. Several other minor things were upgraded to current electrical codes as well, just to be sure.

This whole thing started because I wanted a transfer switch for my generator. Some estimates were high, some electricians declined to work on the old circuitry. I sent pics of the upgraded electrical service to one of the original contractors, and upon seeing it, he (literally) reduced his estimate by 50%. So next week, we will finally finish this long and boring story, and I can power my house next time the power fails. My wife is joking with me that I’ll be the only guy hoping for a power outage when the next storm hits – just so I can try out my new stuff.

So… on to the next project. Sometimes I think retirement is just overseeing contractors while overdue work gets done on the house.

On edit: Ninja’d by Spiderman while I was typing.

Hmmm. I guess I better go to bed… Nighty-night all.
