Wiki sez you have a similar related one over there, but not the species we get.
I am always amazed that a similar adaptation exists in widely separated areas.
Well phooey! The big Christmas fair that I work at every year has been (unsurprisingly) officially canceled today as it would be a Phase 4+ event with thousands of people elbow to elbow all day long. Now to figure out what I’ll do with myself on weekends between Halloween and Christmas.
Send Christmas presents to you fellow MMPers?
nellie
;o)
Nice sig, fella!
I’m debating: more coffee or not? It’s almost 4:30 in the afternoon, but I’m so tired it probably won’t keep me awake. But, the fact that I’m that tired means that I probably shouldn’t have any.
I think I’m just looking for something else to do because I’m ready to hide from my daughter, who is 10 and has reached that phase where it’s really starting to grate on her that her brother gets to do more stuff than she does. As a result she is constantly (and unnecessarily) tattling on him. “Mom, he’s playing video games again! Why can’t I play video games? I’m just saying - you said it wasn’t healthy to play video games too long.”
“Your brother is taking a coding class - on how to make video games.”
“Well, he doesn’t shower enough and that’s not very good for him.”
“How does that have anything to do with video games?”
“He makes bad choices. Also, he smells weird.”
Jesus Christ on a cracker, kid, I haven’t met a teenage boy yet who doesn’t smell like ass, terrible cologne or a combination of the two. Can someone hide me? Preferably somewhere with a comfy bed and some coffee?

If you haven’t seen Deadwood: There is a Chinese character named Wu who runs the criminal activities in Deadwood’s Chinatown. He speaks one single word of English: Csuckah!*
For some illogical reason, I do hope the character came to a Bad End.
:dubious:
Wu communicates with AL Swearengin by stick figure drawings and pantomime with liberal use of the only English word he knows: C***sucka!
metal mouse, I’m having to water the plants on the patio a couple of times a week right now. As for the grass seed, scatter some once you get the leaves raked the final time. I’ve been known to scatter it on a light dusting of snow. Fall and spring rains and winter snow will give it a good start to germination.
Happy 615 day! It’s a local celebration (the area code for the Nashville area is 615) that, on most years brings a few small street fairs and such.
As for the OP, Summer Solstice should be celebrated in the traditional manner: dancing naked in the woods with flowers in your hair.
Irked, found a pricing mistake from Procurement and got some migration issues figured out. Now to chill in the studio.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Is there a satellite feed?

Evening all. Had a teleconference with the Edward D. Jones guy, probably will invest a few more dollars with them and they’ll start the annuity paying out in September (I really don’t need the extra cash, but having it sit there doesn’t do me any good either). Celebrated by taking a nap and going out to the new Culver’s opening…and giving it a pass as the drive-though line was at least 25+ cars and there was a long line waiting to get inside. No problem, I though, go to the new Freddy’s, it’s been open a week so the rush is over and I can get stuff fast…ah, no, folks have been cooped up awhile and still want something ‘new’. So ended up at 5 Guys for my monthly pig-out.
Then drove by a couple of parks and they’ve pretty much restarted soccer (at least the club level) and softball/baseball. So the parks are crowded and while the coaches seem to be wearing masks, almost none of the parents and players are. Same in the restaurants. With less than 600 cases in a population of 400,000+, maybe it’s OK…but I’ll keep wearing my masks until July 4th at least.
OK, penciled in a trip to Duluth Trading for tomorrow for Blue jean buying. Levi’s discontinued the brand I was comfortable with, so I need to look for replacements, and Duluth looks like they have some good options. We shall see.
FCM, Red, I’ll look at getting seed down around October then; not much snow but it does stay wet in the winter here.
Hippy, not as large a vocabulary as yours, but I remember by HS soccer coach taught me both soccer and the word Scheisse.
wordy, just remember, she’s going to grow up to be a teenager, so one day you’ll be wondering 'why can’t she be a good kid like she was at 10??"
Nut, had to Google hummingbird hawk-moth, neat insect, don’t think I’ve ever seen one. And as for the MIA bees, a soft suggestion, i.e. “That’s a shame. Just a thought, maybe the next one we leave alone for a few days.” might take the critique out of it and make it a shared opinion…but what do I know.
nellie, hope the second gym is available. I think I mentioned before, I have probably 6-8 gyms within a 5-mile radius of my house. Have no idea how they all stay in business.
Nettie, glad DH is doing well.
All y’all have a good evening and see you on 2sday.
Not-so-dearly loathing the brown truck “delivery” guys today. Today, I had a package out for delivery, which was already late. DH reports that the tracker map showed my package IN OUR APARTMENT COMPLEX, when it suddenly left back to the depot, won’t be delivered until tomorrow. Tracking claims “weather or natural disaster”. Weather was nowhere near bad here today, and news sites have a remarkable lack of mention of any major issues in the area that could reasonably be expected to impede a delivery.
Also some side hate for stubbornly stupid callers who refuse to believe that they might be locked out of a website for too many failed logins, while they are talking to that site’s tech support, who is looking at the history of failed attempts and the Blocked flag, and a restaurant that closed just as I parked in front of it (looks like Doordash wanted my money more than they did).
well, thank god 2020s half over I’ve thought some years were bunk but this one takes the cake…even the weathers off … as for me personally just another day of bull… yall don’t need/wanna hear about
since were (aka the sdmb) moving fryday well have to have a party or something if the thread caries over
Oh yeah, good idea during the season of ticks and poison ivy and 'skeeters…
**FCD **has a couple of pairs of pants from Duluth and he really likes them. They seem to use a much more durable grade of denim than I see these days in various stores. But I’m glad we don’t have a brick and mortar version near us, else we’d have to take out a second mortgage.
Today is gutter and pressure wash day. The crew is due here sometime after 8:30, at which point I need to be sure all the windows are closed. I told daughter I’d wrangle Roxy today so she could apply for some jobs - guess I need to get into Toddler Frolic mode. And the guy fixing the back yard may be here today or tomorrow - we shall see.
Happy Tuesday!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 66 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 83 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. This is cooler weather than normal in these parts for this time of year. The big item on today’s agenda is laundry and I shall make a trip to Sam’s for some stuff. We decided to be gourmands yestiddy so we went to Waffle House instead of makin’ sup at da cave. Thus we shall do bbq sammiches, slaw, and fries for tonight’s sup. I got a pee-kan waffle, bacon, and scrambled aigs at WH and et waaaaaaaaaaaay to much. 'Twas good however.
Nuts feel free to fall upon the faintin’ couch anytime you need. I have made it a regular part of the furnishin’s.
Miss Owl the use of a proper deviled aig tray is not necessary for a backyard picnic. However, if it had been a garden party then a proper deviled aig tray would have been necessary.
gotti sorry about the Christmas fair.
Everyone else, yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlins, noogies and how you doin’s all around as needed.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
:dubious: She’s a bit young to be working yet isn’t she?
'Tis soggy again here today, with a chance of thunderstorms later. I’ve put the rubbish out, and suspect that may be my major achievement for the day, though I do aim to defilthify at least one major surface as well. I might try the desk today; it’s covered in pots of tiny plants, normal size plants, and assorted project leftovers.
