Sneaking up on the Summer Solstice in the MMP

The gym options are…not great. There are only 3 within walking distance, all small. I’m sure they’ll only be able to have a very few users in at once even when we do get to Phase III, so it might not be feasible for them to reopen. I could only get pricing on one gym, and it’s three times what I was paying. There’s a tiny gym here in the complex. The equipment is sparse and poor quality, but if it reopens, it’d be (barely) better than nothing, and it’s free.

{{{Butters}}} Sending good thoughts your way. I can only imagine the stress you’re under, but you’re beloved to many here, and we’re all pulling for Mr. Butters.

OW, that adoption news made my day. Taa-daah! Too sweet.

There are people who are both young and ladies in here?

nettie, da Jungle can’t seem to get my stuff to the right apartment half the time. Yesterday, I got three packages. Two were ordered at the same time and came in two different shipments. The pics showed first one in the yard cart, then two. The other, was at a neighbor’s in the next building. That happens so often, I recognize his stoop. We have a deal for him to leave it there and when I see where it is, I pick it up when I walk the dog and don’t bother having to knock on his door (he works graveyards, I can sympathize). I still don’t have half the order that was on his stoop (not even shipped yet, from the same seller and everything).

{{{butters and Mr. butters}}} If I lived closer, I’d pick Buddy up so he could bunk in with Nelson.

Irked and am irked. Right now, it feels like I’ve been abandoned to keep things running without most of the authority to make things happen. I know that it will get better, but this migration was not well thought out by the IT team, operations or my leadership for accessories that aren’t market specific. The reporting functions aren’t functional, so operations is only getting half their metrics from me, the weekend guy is slacking big time, my boss is working from home with no definite date to return and the grandboss is at our Louisville third party logistics center for a week. I’m doing the math to see if there’s any way to retire sooner than planned.

On the home front, it’s almost impossible to watch the news, not so much because the world has gone to shit, but because of the ugly political ads being run now. Krishna on a cracker!

:rant over:

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! We laundered, achieved nappage, made and then et sup. How do we keep up the pace! Oh, and I went to Sam’s for stuff. Fun day.

{{{Butters and Hubs}}} prayers and good thoughts for a successful operation and speedy recovery. I’ll add y’all to the prayer list at church like I did before if that’s OK. Buddy might be best off boarded at the vet since you’ll be gone for at least several days.

Miss Owl yay for the adoption!

My kinda sorta grandchild had her first encounter with a corn dawg yestiddy. I was sent a video of her figurin’ it out. First she licked it like a popsicle. Then she bit off a bit of the cornbread and made a face. Then she discovered the hot dawg and devoured it and wanted another.

swampy, your corndog story reminded me of Roxy’s first corn muffin. When she saw it, she yelled “Cupcake!!!” (actually cake-cake, but we know what she meant.) Then she licked the top a few times, before biting it. I’m guessing she had an iced cupcake at her other grandmother’s, so that’s what she was expecting.

Just got the word that I’m going to my mom’s tomorrow with Daughter and Roxy. SIL isn’t up to it. So that’s fine. It’s going to rain and I won’t be able to do anything in my yard anyway. I’ll run to Food Lion when I first get up, and we’ll leave around 9 or so.

**nellie **- what sorts of equipment do you use in the gym? Can you fake it with something at home? I need to do some weight training, and I was thinking sacks of rice would work as well as small dumbbells. I’d like to get a treadmill, but we really don’t have the space for one. Or a recumbent stationary bike - **FCD **might use that. After the kids move out, I might get one. We shall see.

I’m not in your territory, I doubt my package even reached your time zone, so you’re off the hook. I would, however, appreciate an explanation from your counterparts in my area as to how my package was “out for delivery” on FOUR consecutive weekdays before it finally deigned to reach my door, and looked like it had been kicked around and possibly stomped. The contents of said package are damaged. Still usable enough, but DH is in the process of documenting said damage to discuss with the Jungle. We don’t blame them, we have issues with some highly slothful and careless “delivery” people in our area. I’m sure you’d have handled that box a lot more promptly and kindly.

I promised Butters that I’d virtually hold her hand tight through the surgery. Why do hospital waiting rooms contain the most uncomfortable furniture imaginable? Even caveman rocks had to be luxurious next to waiting room furniture!
~VOW

I think sacks of rice would be great. I got a couple of 10 lb. dumb bells (all I could carry on a .5 mile walk) just before the lockdown, and I have a 10 lb. kettle ball. I’ve been faithful in using them, but it’s not nearly equivalent to what I was doing at the gym. And in lieu of a treadmill, which I have no room for, I walk a mile to a big hill and walk up and down it. It’s OK for now, but during heat and rain, not so doable. Maybe I’ll toughen up.

Recumbent bikes are great! My mom had one. For some reason, they bother my knees, though. Go figure. I thought about trying to find a used treadmill, but realistically, I have no space.

It just dawned on me that this’ll be the last MMP on this site. Three days 'til blast-off!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.

: looks up from Box Crusher 9000 Machine :
yeah, yeah.
But some of it is automation. If you load a 100k packages for delivery in 4 hours, the machines are gonna eat a few if they get wedged.:o

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out (BRRR!) and clear with a predicted high of ONLY 84 and N.O.S. for the day. Worry not, tomorrow we get back into the nineties. Today OYKW shall trek to the Pubic Sto’ for provisions whilst I loll about da cave. Really, no big plans for the day at all. Sup shall be chikin 'n rice, squish casserole, green beans and rolls. OK, that will take some prep, so I won’t be an idle slug all day.

doggio congrats on the new gig. Hope this is one you like.

MOOOOOOM little ones are funny about stuff like that. Martha Ruth thought the corn dawg was a popsicle at first. I got another video last night of her tellin’ the story of “The Three Little Pigs.” She did remarkably well with the details, except in her version the big bad wolf just gives up and goes home when he can’t blow down the brick house and the three little pigs had ice cream to celebrate.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Up early and breakfasting before a quick run to Food Lion. If weather.com is to be believed, we won’t get out of the 60s today! Weird weather…

**swampy **- Roxy’s version of the alphabet song includes: “Q-R-F…T-U-V” And when she sings Baby Shark, instead of Grandpa, she has BeePa Shark! I wish I could capture this stuff on video, but she gets shy when the camera comes out. Plus being old and all, I don’t walk around with my phone camera at the ready.

**doggio **- you left the world of retail? But you always made it sound so entertaining!! Hope the new gig is all you want and more.

Well, toast has been ingested. I need to head to Leonardtown. I’ll likely be absent most of the day since we’ll be heading to Forest Hill in a couple of hours. Behave in my absence and use your damned coasters!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Wednesday!

We have thunder! Lots of it! An unusually dramatic storm for here, shame it’s daylight so I can’t see the lightning (I likes storms).

It looks like I’ll be having an online type interview for a big plant grower next week. Getting some proper commercial scale experience should be a good thing regardless of what I want to do next- it’s the number 1 thing asked for on job ads in the sector, and this place is one of the largest growers in the county and slightly closer than my current place of irk. Current job is all up in the air right now anyway, and I’ll go stir crazy if I have to spend another 3 months doing nothin’. They’re talking about more hours, but with the current chaos no-one really knows, and my current contract isn’t enough to even pay the rent (brilliant for working round the course, not for long-term).

Bleh. I should stop wittering about my boring job issues, but, as you can imagine, it’s on my mind a fair bit lately. I should go watch the storm instead. Happy Wednesday!

Good morning all. Actually got outside a took a nice long walk yesterday evening, so of course I’m a Norse God today (Thor). Will try to get out some more this evening. Have some banking and investing to do later today and plan to water the front yard (do the back tomorrow).

Miss Owl, missed the good news on the adoption. May they be happy forever.

Nut, good luck on the interview.

doggio, hope the Big Brown Job goes well.

Red, been there, it’s ‘you do the work and I’ll take the credit, but you get the blame’… Hang in there. And be thrilled you have such understanding neighbors.

swampy, FCM, corn dogs and muffins? I’m waiting for something exotic, like grits or tacos…

OK, need to finish the day’s Sudokus and obtain sustenance, so everyone have a good Hump Day.

Happy Hump Day!

Anotehr chilly morning at the park. I thought I’d be overdressed but I was cold.
It’s in the 60s, but is overcast and breezy.

Echo got a golf ball this morning, I had to take it away from her. I’d love to catch the asshole who keeps driving golf balls into the park. One of the dogs there swallowed one and almost died, and another man who was walking his dog had one whiz right by his head.

{{{Butters and Hubby}}} I’m sure everything will go well for him, and I think you have my number, ao if you want to call and talk.

Congrats on new job Doggio!

I have much to do again today, always something to do, and I’m getting damn tired.

[quote=“FairyChatMom, post:70, topic:855688”]

Behave in my absence and use your damned coasters!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

[QUOTE]

New movie: “Coasters of the Damned” – A horror story for FCM in which people own coasters but refuse to use them!!!

FCM, did you get any interesting mail yet??

(((((Butters and Mr Butters))))), I will join the rest of Mumperdom in sending positive thoughts as often as possible. I hope Buddy likes the vet if that is where he ends up boarding, perhaps it would be for the best as it means less worry for you.

OW - many congrats to your friends on the adoption, I wish them nothing but happy years ahead

nellie, I miss my gym and there are no signs of opening dates yet. To be honest, the one where I go with my trainer isn’t somewhere I expect to cope well with restrictions. It’s not a small place but the owner has packed it so full of equipment, you’d be hard-pressed to make 2ft of space between things, never mind 2m. I applaud his efforts to cram in as much gear as he can to satisfy all requirements, but distancing is going to make his life very hard.

I have very little equipment here, I could get together enough weights to put about 40kgs on a deadlift bar but no more than that. I bought a pilates bar/gymstick thing recently that works quite well and is more robust than resistance bands so at least I am making an effort. By the time I go back to training, it’ll be like starting over.

Doggio - congrats on the new job! Are you joining the ranks of those who ring the bell and run, having lobbed a parcel over the gate and into the bins?

Nut - good luck on the interview, hope it’s a success for you.

There…run out of steam now. I am irking, and irked. We have a massive amount of work to do on some spreadsheets that we didn’t get until today, the instructions are rubbish, we can’t even work out easily what we’re meant to do, and it’s all got to be done by Friday. Ho hum.

Duplicate post

Less than 13 hours of VBulletin. Took Gordie out. The rain is straining things, all teh dogs were mouthing off at each other.

No more Karens!

I’m already moving up in the company. I’m on the second floor of the warehouse.:D;)

Boofae, not I’m not a “Ding Dong Ditch-er” . Yet.

Afternoon all. The banking and the investing are done, and I did a little grocery shopping while I was at it. Came home to my credit card bills, so I’ll mail them later today. Also just talking about watering the yard has the sky cloudy and some channel predicting tunder-boomers…ought to go into business for drought areas, just move me in and provide me a sprinkler system…

boo fae, hang in there, it’ll all come [del]apart[/del] together by the [del]entropic heat death of the universe[/del] Friday…

Sari, no one can spot the mad golfer? I mean he has to be within a couple hundred yards of your location. Or does he do most of his golfing when the park is empty?

Alright, back to considering the afternoon nappage.

I have got to read more carefully. When I saw this…

I thought, “Dang, that other dog has one powerful stream!”

I’m hoping I’ll know by tomorrow about gyms reopening. If they do, I’ll have to figure out if I even CAN go to one. Even with a mask and IF there’s enough distancing, I’m at high risk, and I understand people shed more virus when huffing and puffing. Boofae, I’m thinking most gyms need more space than they have. Every gym I’ve ever been to has had equipment crammed in. I wonder why that is.

red, I hope the work troubles smooth out or that you can get out sooner than planned. Sometimes I wonder how the world continues to function with all the incompetence and errors made by TPTB.

nut, fingers crossed for the job interview.

I’m trying to talk myself into doing a little weight training today. It’s hard on my hand joints, but mind over matter.

That’s nice Mooomm Buddy would love to play with and be chased by Roxy. It would be guaranteed to wear them both out. I made a reservation at his Vet. It was about half the price I was expecting. It’s only 24.50 per day. I just need to pack up some of his favorite toys and a blanket. They will furnish his food and a dog bed. I told her that he will destroy a dog bed so she said they will take it up at night and he can use his blanket. They will also give him a bath and clip his nails before I pick him up. They also let me keep it open ended because I don’t know how long I will be gone.

Hubs daughter was able to get a flight from Raleigh to Miami with three stops for only $48. So now I will not be alone. The hospital only allows one visitor at a time so we can take turns. I upgraded our room to a two bedroom suite because her husband may drive down later in the week. We are going up the day before so we are there and not risk the road getting shut down or something from an accident.

I just made and et a bacon and tomato sammich using some of my free Waffle House bacon. It’s been rainy here and we are both about to nap. I was only able to read page one as I keep getting that 504 error so this may not even post. I hope everyone is doing good.
