SNL 1-17 Dawson

Okay, this was a bit poor. I love Wiig, but that Gilli character sucked big time.
I wish Seth had a co anchor again.

Awful all around. One or two laughs on Update, but damned if I can remember them right now.

I really enjoyed the Mexican cop show written by grade-schoolers.

Me too, that was funny as hell. The rest, though…

Mexican cop show was the funniest sketch of the show. Kristin Wiig’s shtick of weird expression + vocal tics = comedy is officially 100% played out and has to be stopped.

The conventional wisdom on Kristen Wiig seems to be “she’s great, but all her characters are awful.” Is it possible she’s just awful overall? Actual question, since I’m a little torn myself, and I have no idea why.

It was okay for background noise while I lurked on the Dope, but it paled in comparison to last week’s Neil Patrick Harris episode. I know the hosts are heavily involved in choosing the sketches that are pitched, and I wonder if a rare few of them just have a knack for picking the right stuff. Anne Hathaway’s episode was the other episode this season that I can remember being way above average.

I usually don’t post in the SNL threads to me too the “that sucked” comments, but I have to say that episode had absolutely zero redeeming qualities.

:frowning:

I just saw the opening, but Rosario Dawson sure has some serious skinny on her.

Didn’t anybody else like Fleet Foxes? They kind of put me in the mind of Crosby, Stills and Nash.

A little bit. I was given half a dozen MP3s of their last week, and only kept one on my computer. The one I kept was the first song they played on SNL last night.

I love the nervous girl on Weekend Update and I thought the Mexican cop show was genius, but the rest was kind of “meh”. I thought Fred Armisen’s character during the monologue was just stupid.

I really liked the “Gitmo is Closing!” clearance ad, but that was partly because it reminded me of the Roscoe’s Oriental Rug Emporium sketch from Almost Live! way back in the day.

Da Learnin’ Train made me laugh with “we’re the number two preschooler hip-hop block party show!” but went on too long without a decent ending.

I liked:
Da Learning Train
Alladin and Jasmine ten years later
Git’ Mo going out of business sale
Mexican Cop Show
The Digital Short was stupid
The opening went on too long
Gilli sucked
The View sucked

That’s about all I remember
