Snow is a 4-letter word in the MMP

talky - dunno if this will help your other half, but it made a difference with my sleep. In my case, I thought I might have sleep apnea based on what FCD said about my sleeping, and once I got used to the wedge, I slept fine… well as fine as I ever could with my wonky sleep cycle, which is another issue entirely.

Sketty sauce is simmering and I just started the ice maker. So I’m heading downstairs to walk for an hour.

How to have fun with your cats on a snowy day:

  1. Go out and shovel snow while the cats “help” by watching through the front window.
  2. Throw snowballs at cats in window, watch them run away.
  3. Upon returning to the house, fill the cats’ treat bowls with snow.
  4. Put the bowls of snow where you usually put the cats’ treat bowls.
  5. Watch both cats come running and stick their little faces in the bowls.
  6. Fall over laughing when both cats look up at you with looks that clearly say “WTF is wrong with you, woman?!?”

I think I’d better watch my back today …

That’s a good idea - he’s been getting by with a stack of pillows, but I also think he’s kind of uncomfortable with all the lumpiness, so maybe a wedge for Christmas.

And thanks ratty - turns out the conversation was actually really good. Boss lady informed me that it was mathematically impossible to hit the numbers I was tasked with this year and as long as I was doing what I could to get there, whether I got there or not wasn’t really the question. She must be really good at reading people, or I have serious impostor syndrome, because she’s usually good at bringing me down.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Just did my hour of going nowhere at something over 5 KPH. I watched an Aussie cop/lawyer show, but I wasn’t much impressed - dunno if I’ll stick with the series. And I’m thinking I may be brave enough to move some of the scrap wood from the basement to the truck… after lunch. For now, I plan to chill a bit.

Morning, y’all. Don’t have class until 11am, so I slept in this morning. Right now the boy cats are sitting in the office window, fascinated by the lawn crew working next door. Boys of all species love to watch people operating machinery, I guess. Last day of classes for the semester. Then I’m off until Jan. 5th. Didn’t win Powerball last night, so we shall all remain millions-less for the time being. Sorry.

If I get really inspired I’ll walk around the block a couple of times before class starts. Who am I kidding? I’m going to make breakfast, then chill in front of the computer until my last class starts their presentations. Then I’m going to break out wine with a cork in it to celebrate the end of the semester!

Two days after the potluck, and there’s still a bit of smoked pork in the fridge. Yeah, it was a big roast. I didn’t have any, as I wanted some of the charcuterie items I brought in on Tuesday for breakfast.

Looks like an empty orifice today. There’s me, the admin, and the paralegal. At least four people are on vaccination, one’s in hospital recovering from sugary (‘sugary’ is the best I can come up with for ‘sugary’ at the moment), and some cow-orkers are orking from home. El Jefe may be in after a while.

Talky, a CPAP machine changed my life - possibly even saved it. And I am not prone to hyperbole. Please do insist that overlyhubs schedule a sleep study ASAP.

Sun’s out this morning after a rainy night. Windy and relatively chilly the rest of today. Mrs W has zoom meetings back to back pretty much all day, so we probably won’t get outside for a walk anyway. If I get bored enough I may venture out myself. We’ll see. Starting tomorrow she’s on vacay until January, so boredom will not be an option, even if I desire it.

Breffist is digesting and laundry is spinning. And today is clean the bathroom day. The excitement continues.

Sketty sauce had been bagged and put in the freezer. We took a load to the dump, so less crap in the basement. We discussed what needs to be done next.

I’m cooking up some penne that will become part of the pasta bake for supper. Productivity reigns!

Evening.

Well, I’m pretty certain I’ve decided to hand in my notice tomorrow regardless of having nothing lined up. I should have done it today really, but as we were having a mini leaving do for one staff member and another who’s been away for months due to having a brain tumour showed up, I let the manager persuade me to leave it until tomorrow- she’s already handed in hers on Monday, after being there over a decade, and has been pretty open about quitting because it’s all gone awful.

I know it’s stupid, given, well, pandemic and all, but I think it’s down to it’s go or go mad. I have enough savings to live on if I need to for a while.
 Oh well.

Nut, sounds like there isn’t going to be many folks left in your soon-to-be-departed section. Maybe the Highest-ups will figure out something is rotten…nah, they’ll blame you folks who are leaving and carry on… Best of luck in the job search. Sometimes a change is all you can do.

flyboy, it’s surgery for future reference. And the office sounds like my place around Xmas…you have to actively looks for people.

quietly, hope the presentations remain brilliant.

talky

OW, I’d watch where you step and check your shoes/slippers for the next couple days…cats are subtle but have short-memories, fortunately.

Talking mostly to you since I spent the last 2 hours in sleepage–I apparently owed the sandman some time and he collected it all at once. Now I have to re-caffeinate to full wake up. And chores still remain, alas.

Take care all.

My GP’s office told me I need to go in for more labs. The lab requires masks, but while I was waiting, a man walked in without one to drop off a sample. He had to wait 15 minutes before the lone employee took him back (ahead of me) to a room to get his insurance card. Would it have hurt anything for the tech to ask, “Sir, did you bring a mask with you?” Maybe he had one in the car. Or they could keep a supply of paper masks on hand to offer. I’m so sick of these Just Kidding mask rules.

nut, it’s too bad TPTB put you into the position you’re in. Mental health is worth a lot, so it’s good you’re choosing that. Hopefully you find a better job soon.

wordy, that sounds like a great meeting.

Boo, hope you got some sleep and are feeling better.

OW, good to keep those cats on their toes (or paws)!

So far the reaction has been to send out an announcement that, as of Jan 1st, everyone’s notice period will be increased by 1 month, I kid ye not…

In fairness, the guy whose leaving do it was today was just retiring after being there for over 30 years, it’s not been anything to do with the current madness, he’d announced it ages ago. In fact, he’d delayed it a few months to help out.

Huh? Wait…

Oh, bloody hell! I meant to say I was using ‘sugary’ for ‘surgery’, but completely blew it. I knew what I wanted to type, but my brain/fingers interface went down.

See what I get for trying to be funny?

I did this. Was worth it in the end, simply for the sake of my own mental health, which is both fragile and irreplaceable.

I think imma let the good folks at Chili’s fix my dinner tonight. Way less cleanup that way.

Tomorrow, I need to finish and send out the last two packages. Plus it’ll be payday. I may treat myself to something nice. Perhaps a new tube of mascara or something.

So Overnight shift ran long, as did regular shift. Then they asked me to stay to unload a late air load, so I said, sure. It never showed up, but hell. I worked 11 hours, and got a bunch of overtime. P.S. what day is it?

Good luck on quitting, Nut!

OW, for that, you may come home to find your couch peed on.

Good luck on the job search nut

Irked over again tonight. I’ll finish up the project so’s I can take the goody bags to irk tomorrow to give to the weekend guys.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Yup, Chili’s made me a small hunk o’cow, plus a salad (!) and some black beans. How virtuous and healthy of me!

Fartfest to follow.

Called my mom, at my dad’s request. He’s worried that she’s depressed and let’s face it, me calling just to chat is gonna cheer her up. So I did.

Now I’m in chillage mode. Starting a new series on HBO called “The Flight Attendant” after hearing an interview with the main chick on N.P.R. on the way home from irk. They made it sound interesting enough to try it out.

Also flipping through Tinder a bit, because I’m sick of whining to you guys about how lonely I am, instead of doing something about it.

But what about IT guy in Texas?

That damn workaholic?

He’s great and all, but he’s not here yanno?

If you mean the jealousy aspect or whatever, well, he’s the one who’s been suggesting and encouraging me to do some online dating, and I know he’s doing the same when he’s not working 60 or 80 hour weeks or whatever bonkers schedule he’s keeping these days.

Both would be a problem. Jealousy, though, did not occur to me.

OK, Tinder it is, but only if you tell us about every detail.
