The Overflowing Sweatshirt Closet MMP

I got two new hoodies this month, both from annual events that I do. One I have a collection of over a dozen years worth, the other is an off & one collection of more than double that number of years. The problem is that the shelves on the top of the closet were already full before acquiring these two.

My choices are:
[ul]
[li]Get rid of the oldest ones. However, these give me the most cred - “Wow, you’ve been doing this since ____!”[/li][li]Get rid of the newest ones - but they’re brand new.[/li][li]Get rid of some random ones in the middle - breaking up a good collection[/li][li]Buy a larger house & move - This sounds like the best option to me! :D[/li][/ul]
This week’s pre-hijack question(s): Do any of you do an annual event year over year that you get some parting gift from? What is it? How many years worth?
What overflowing collection would make you think about moving to a larger house? (Swampy doesn’t need to answer this, we already know it’s TP. :p)

First.

Blurf! Too early. Going back to sleep.

Second!

I don’t have any annual events that leave me with a parting gift, apart from my collection of music festival wristbands. However, wristbands are a relatively new thing for festivals, so they don’t realistically represent the number of times I might have been to a particular festival if I went when all you needed to get through the gates was a ticket. A friend of mine used to collect all his tickets from the old Monsters of Rock festival held annually at Castle Donington. He was mortified when they made it a weekend festival instead of a day-long event, and changed the name to Download. It completely ruined his collection.

Spidey, I vote for moving house or at least building an extension so you can have your own dressing room.

When I was in the Navy and traveling a good bit, I made sure to get at least 1 t-shirt from every place I visited and if available, from events I attended. I had quite the collection and it was better than a travel diary. But I wore them all and in most cases, I wore them out.

The one I miss most was the company t-shirt from OCS - it had our company flag on the back (we were Yankee company, so this was our flag) and along the hem on the front it had the Kilroy-was-here guy and it said “NESEPs keep a low profile” (NESEP was the program we were all in.) I had 2 of those shirts and I wore them both till they were rags.

Good morning!! It’s below freezing and there was quite a breeze coming in off the bay and across the airfield. A bunch of floor tiles were replaced this weekend - instead of tile, I’ve got carpeted panels, so my chair doesn’t move as easily, dammit! I brought in a spider plant to brighten up the place. So it’s another day in paradise.

Happy Moanday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 38 Amurrkin and clear with a predicted high of 58 for the day. The Turkey Day forecast calls for a high of 74. Weather be weird!

Spidey thanks for startin’ us off. In addition to TP, I have a collection of caps. I used to wear them a lot more than I do now, so a couple years ago I thinned the herd somewhat. Now I have twenty caps whereas I did have over sixty.

OK, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence. At least it’s just a two day irk week for me this week. YAY!

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Happy Moonday!

I agree it’s too early but since I’m up, I’m up. Especially since I let the dog out. That blast of cold air chased away any sleepies still hanging around. It’s a whopping 26 degrees outside BRRRRRRR!

I’m sure there will be a nap later today.

Nothing done annually around here, except dr visits and they don’t give parting gifts.
Sah-son has quite the collection of hats, well over 30 and growing. They are from all over the world, some bought for him by family members who travel. Others he ordered online.
I have t-shirts, but they don’t take up a lot of room. I don’t wear them very often because most of them are white and I don’t like to wear dirt magnets. Back when I had a horse I swore every time I wore white I got thrown and those ground in mud/grass stains were impossible to get out.

I do have a collection of albums and CDs that I need to get rid of, Between Rhapsody and Youtube who needs them? Not too many books anymore, with Kindle who needs them cluttering up the place?

I have more house than I need, so I have lots of room to collect junk. I just refuse to do it. Empty rooms are easier to keep clean.

You could always cut up your sweat shirts and have them made into a quilt.

BLURF! but in a good way - the Cat actually let me alone until 6:30!

Spidey keep the oldest one from each source and the newest from each source. Donate everything from the middle to a veterans’ charity. You’ll get a warm glow and you’ll have more room for more hoodies. It’s cheaper than moving.

BTW - in case you missed it last night, I started a GoFundMe for a new computer. Y’all don’t have to be as generous as the first two donators, but please donate a couple bucks? Seriously. I am still retired-on-disability, and still dealing with assorted “planned obsolescence” delays from the SSA waiting for my money. All I do is play on the 'puter and do art projects for friends or my own amusement. A machine that will take me into the next decade and beyond would be a boon.

Good morning from the great and sovereign state of by-Gawd Texas! The family spent two days on the road and arrived last night, safe and sound.

No t-shirts here except shirts from college.

Only thing I get every year is a cermonial coin from the soccer tournaments, which I don’t use as I have my own preferred coin to use. But I always get one and the collection is taking up some space on my counter. Like FCM and swampy, I have a fair collection of T-shirts and caps from my various travels, but they are all showing signs of wear.

Like others, it got below freezing here in North Ali-bama last night, but no ice or snow (which is great, since no one here has any idea how to drive in the stuff) and I replaced my old bedding with new mattress pads and sheets (RED!!) which did seem to give me a more restful night’s sleep…placebo effect, I’m sure, but at least I am awake enough to type this…

So happy T-Day week! Only two irk days for me.

ugh. I’ve been here nearly 2 hours with nothing to do. The boss isn’t in. The engineer who I’ve been working with doesn’t get in for another 15 minutes. I hate idleness!!!

Plus my nose is all snuffly and I’m working my way thru a box of tissues. It must be Moanday… :stuck_out_tongue:

That means you should work night shift.

Gettin’ high. (On caffeine.)

Well if buying counts, then hockey jerseys. I also have the hat collection, since they give one out at the last home game every year. It was 29 when I woke up, but now it’s up to 32 degrees Amurikin. I’m off today, so I’ll head to the feed store to grab some grub for Gordie.

Spidey, I vote more to a bigger place.

Just came to gloat. It is a perfect 72 degrees F here this morning.

At irk. I also have a short week. I think I will have a full day today, a short day on Tues and Wed and be off on Thurs and Firday. A four day weekend. Whatever will I do with myself for four whole days?

I took Gordie out for a walk. The Cooler of Death has appeared in my complex.
Butters ,yeah, but what’s the windchill down there?:stuck_out_tongue:

Got hit by a dumptruck on the way to work today. He merged into my lane and didn’t see me. Fortunately he only folded my passenger mirror in, not even a scratch. He stopped with me but we didn’t even talk; I looked at the mirror, popped it back out and gave him a friendly wave goodbye.

But I was HIT BY A DUMPTRUCK DAMMIT!

**tugig **- you have the worst luck of anyone I know regarding vehicles!! I hope you’ll understand if at anytime in the future, I refuse to ride with you…

Lunch!

I have been busy, tho much cussing has ensued. I can’t tell what is my error and what is the idiot program doing its best to piss me off!!! But at least time is passing, so there’s that. And the boss will be in on Fri, so I can be sure of having some work then. yay.

Did that “friendly wave goodbye” involve the extending of only the middle finger in one upward thrust?

Blurf. Up and Chexed. Gonna check my webcomics and maybe do some RPing.

I used to collect caps, but now I only have two or three, including an orange-and-black cap from the Indiana Firebirds Arena Football team that no longer exists.

Morning all. It was exactly freezing when I left for work this morning, which makes for a long cold drive in a truck without a working heater.

I’m beginning to collect t-shirts from the various events that my krewe puts on throughout the year, but as of yet they don’t take up much space.
