Getting to work on time - a commuting MMP

Looks like I’ll have to start us off again, you slackers are all still in bed!

It was a bit of a 'mare getting to work today, there was debris on the line north of my train station, and on the route south the local pikeys had set fire to some signalling equipment aned nicked a bunch of cables so the generalised vandalism meant all the trains on my route were delayed or cancelled. Half an hour waiting at the station, and the worst thing of all…the first class lounge had NO TEA BAGS!!! That is akin to a national emergency when you’re English

I spent most of my bonus half hour watching coverage on the news from Paris and wondering why people can’t just let other folks believe what they want to believe and not interfere in their lives.

W00T! First

Up, caffeinated, off to work. Showing up for hockey after work ,hope the team does.

Boofae, I’m at one of the nearer stores today, so no problem driving in.

I have been awake for half an hour already. Stoopit cat. I have learned to sleep through the meows, so now she pulls on my chin or my nose, and her claws haven’t been trimmed in months.

Right now, I’m running my daily cache cleaning and RAM optimizing, and dreaming of the day I can afford a machine with way more than 2GB/320GB. All I need is $1000.00US. (It has to be an iMac, in case you’re wondering) Anyone want to help me out?

And before I forget, BLURF!!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 51 Amurrkin out with clear skies and a predicted high of 75 for the day and sunny. So I start off needin’ a jacket which I won’t need by this afternoon. This means I have a 50/50 chance of leavin’ my jacket at irk. Then again, my irk day starts off with a trip to the west forty. I have three appointments over there which will take most of the day bein’ as ‘tis a lot of ridin’. So maybe I’ll have enough sense to leave my jacket in twuck rather than take it into the orifice. Or not.

If’n I leave da cave to go to the orifice, it takes me all of fifteen to twenty minutes based on when I leave da cave. Locally, everything appears to be ten to twenty minutes from da cave. Well, all the places I usually go anyway.

OYKW is still abed bein’ as he has today off. He plans to go to his place and take care of laundry and such. Tonight is men’s night over to the church house so dindin is taken care of at least.

OK, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence. I need to get on the road shortly after seven this mornin’ to get to the first place I’m goin’ on time.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Happy Moonday!

It’s a chilly 43 degrees outside, but going up to 64.

I have to step outside today as I have to drive Sah-son to the college for his Geography Mid Term. Then he can take a day or two breather before plunging back in. That means he has time to clean up the yard.
We have to pick a day to go to a museum so he can pick a work of art for his big paper. He has to take a picture of himself at the museum to prove he went there.

My commute is rough since I moved.
Now I have to get up and walk from the bed to the computer and phone.
Before all I had to do was sit up and roll my desk closer.

I’m up too early, I think I’m going to lay back down.

Today I’ve had the perfect commute, although sadly for the wrong reason. My current project is close to Paris and I’m working from home, wearing a pair of jeans with a hole in a knee (no artsy fartsy design here, rather a tendency to check that yes, sidewalks are still tougher than my knees) and a sweatshirt from an imaginary university.

Miskatonic University?

If I win Powerball, I’ll buy you a new one, and a spoon set.

Marry me?

Funny you should mention commuting problems, there is a barricade situation (suicidal, no hostages) in downtown DC that has 12 city blocks shut down in the heart of downtown. The entire city’s commute is affected.

Blurf.

Up and at work, my right knee is grouchy this morning, but it’ll loosen up during the day. Only had to do 4 soccer games this weekend, the 5th one was a forfeit (one team didn’t show up) so all I had to do was line the team that was there up on the filed, blow the whistle to have them kick off, and end the game. Did see how loud I could blow my whistle (The Acme Thunderer!) and according to the girls, it’s pretty loud.

Treated myself to a package of bacon for sammichs last night (three things I cannot keep in the house or I’d be on one of those "My 600-lb. life’ shows: Bacon, Cookies and Potato Chips).

Commute is about 7.0 miles on the shortest route, but I like to vary that and some of the routes are closer to 9.0 miles. Not much traffic at 0530 in the morning, but some of the streets can be busy at 4PM, and all of them pass schools (and school buses), so that takes a little more time. But they are nothng like a big-city commute.

Otherwise just another fun week towards retirement…

Your post was at 2:39am my time. I didn’t get to bed until after 1am.

Not going to be a fun day, functioning on less than 4 hours of sleep. I’ve done it before, and I know it’s going to be unpleasant.

Not sure why I’m weirded out by the Weather Channel’s thing on the Donner Party airing Thanksgiving weekend. The timing just seems weird.

Double blurf here. I have a 9 mile commute, 8 of those miles are straight south on a 4 lane road. I did not haul myself out of bed until almost 7, which is when I usually leave. Made it here by 8, which is when my boss says I start work, even though I’m usually at my desk by 7.

I haz a sad about Paris. I was there last month and can’t imagine what the people are going through.

Iffn you asked for money for illegal narcotics or to procure a hit man I’d send some $ your way, but good Og, woman! There are some moral & ethical lines I. Just. Won’t. Cross.

Well, some people are turkeys.
3rd day @ new place; I don’t know my commute yet…& I haven’t gone from irk to home yet.
in other news, after a but of sleep I feel hoomun again.

The experience of tea-bagging on an American commuter train is very different from yours.
I have a very different commute now than I’ve had in the past. Driving its about 10-12 minutes; using public transport its more like 2 hours. As a result I am driving more now than I ever have in the past. But the good news is that mostly its on the bike (even in winter) and there is no such thing as a really bad trip on a Harley.

Wossamotta U.

Actually the old logo for the club/association of mental health counselors looked somewhat like a college coat-of-arms leading us to refer to it as “Psychotic State”. I wonder what happened to that outfit? The exchange of information was OK but the t-shirts really kicked some ass!

I refuse to discuss my commute while I’m still off work.

I believe it was around 40 Amurkin when I was waiting for the bus with Kid 2 (and windy - yay). High of 59 predicted. He finally admits that it might be time to get some pants. He’s been wearing shorts only for 2 years, since we left Missouri. :roll eyes:

In other news, I need to find out why the Disability folks and my doctors office haven’t been “talking”. So it’s a paperwork Monday for me.

Also, scheduling infusions for the headaches. Wheeeeee! It’s a merry-go-round of fun over here.

That’s all I got for now. Happy Moanday everyone!

Howdy and BLURF I am at irk finally. It was raining all night and when it was time to leave for irk it was blinding rain so I texted my staff I would be late and waited until it slowed down enough to be safe.

My commute is close to an hour. I live exactly 32 miles from irk but that is on a two lane highway with a 45 mph speed limit. It is a very dangerous road so I never pass. If I get behind a slowpoke then I poke too.

Happy Moanday.

Blurf, I am now awake myself, and my Corn Chex has eased my rumbly tumbly for the time being, but I still want my Cinnamon Life back, you bastards at the store! Wrapped up the weekly recruiting for mah Flashes’ 2024 season’s first couple of weeks, so the next time I start up the game, I’ll be ready to play the season opener against Maryland.

(If it seems that all I do is eat and play video games, you’re not far off.)

ekemom and I will soon be going to Wally World to pick up some medications, and then over to Farm Fresh to get salads for lunch and go over to the community college to chill for a few hours while dindin (barbecue ribs) cooks in the crock pot. We have rather crappy interblag coverage at home, but the college has really good coverage, so ekemom can get her movies downloaded (so she doesn’t get bored) and I can get mah RP on. I may also read some screenplays and play some Mario 3 or… something.

Yesterday at the karaoke place was fun, even though we left an hour early because ekemom’s headache was starting to flare up. She’s had the same migraine headache, nonstop, for 5 1/2 years. Actually I praise her for making it through the two hours of karaoke that she did.

I texted eke-sorta-gf while I was at the karaoke place, telling her it was fun, and making the offhand comment that she and I should go there together sometime. She took it as an actual date request, which surprised me since it’s been about 11 months since our last date. Um, okay! I suggested the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and she said she’ll see if she can find someone to watch her daughter.

Howdy from large and in charge Eufaula, Allabammy! Eufaula (as in Eufaula down, you geta hurt) is just across the state line from my last appointment and has a Mickey D’s which is where I am havin’ N.O.L. In a few I must be on my way to large and in charge beautiful downtown Ft. Gaines, Jawja and then on to Edison, Jawja. Exotic travel is my life!

Laterz!

Change of plans: We made sandwiches to take to school with us. We need more mayo and sliced cheese now.

The ribs marinated last night with Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce, and Mom added an onion to the crock pot. Gonna be soooo good when we get home. We’ll also watch today’s Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions match; personally I’m rooting for Matt, who I think won like 13 games in a row during his run.
