I say Miami wins by at least 3 touchdowns.
I’m not a big Miami fan or admirer. Never have been.
I can’t respect a team that plays in the poorest excuse for a division in all college football (that includes the WAC), a division that all but guarantees them a perfect season. Then, all they have to do is get past perennially overrated Florida State (who play in the SECOND poorest excuse for a conderence), and play for the national championship- USUALLY in their own home stadium!
Nice work, if you can get it!
But even though I think that the Canes are highly overrated, that they’d have 3 losses if they played in a halfway decent division, and that there are several teams that would whoop them…
Unfortunately, Ohio State isn’t one of them.
Miami slaughters them, easy. 45-3, or something like that. It won’t be close.
Hey now, enough of the Big East playa hating. Check the bowl records over the past few years.
Who are the “several teams” that would whoop the Canes? I think they’d give the Cincinnati Bengals a pretty good game (keeping in mind that Miami has a handful of NFL-caliber players, and the Bengals have a whole team of them, albeit bad ones).
Miami did beat Florida, Florida State, and Tennessee this year. When was the last time someone like say, Nebraska, had an out-of-conference schedule like that?
I hate Miami too. I have ever since I was old enough to get into sports, and was put off by their cockiness, swagger, and all-around bad attitude. But seriously–they are unbelievably talented, and have been for a couple seasons now.
Ohio State will beat Miami.
Really.
Stop laughing, dammit!
Bastards.
It really depends on how healthy Clarett is. If Clarett is able to get 100% healthy then it could be a damn close game. OSU has a very good D and the VA tech game showed that Miami’s D has some serious holes and the O is capable of making some serious mistakes. Michigan(disclaimer: I’m a huge UMich fan) had a pretty good team, but lost to OSU because Clarett was in for two drives, and carried the team down the field both times. Clarett is the shit, and if he’s ready to rock then it could get very interesting(and my personal hope is that he runs through the Miami D like water through a sieve, and decides go pro, so Michigan doesn’t have to deal with him next year :))
45 - 3 huh? 3 touchdowns huh? I will take as much of that action as I can get. This is going to be a close, hard fought game that The Ohio State University could pull out. As wolfman said, Clarett is something special. The difference between tOSU’s offense when he’s in is like night and day.
I’m predicting tOSU 21 - UM 17
Go BUCKEYES !!!
If Nebraska was still Nebraska, this discussion wouldn’t be necessary.
Nevertheless, Go Buckeyes, whatever that is.
This will be over when Miami is caught cheating again.
- a disgruntled Cornhusker.
Even Virginia Tech could get 45 points on the 'Canes, and OSU’s offense is better. Miami’s D couldn’t get hold of Suggs, who is pretty ordinary, and Clarett will be fully healthy.
The VT defense didn’t have the speed to keep up with the Miami receivers, but Ohio State’s does.
Bucks will win by about 27-17.
I think Miami will throttle OSU. And I find it amusing that the Big Ten champ cannot hide in the Rose Bowl, like Michigan did in 1997.
Hide in the Rose Bowl eh? Them’s fightin’ words. Michigan was by far the best team that year. Remember that kicked ball against MO? Eh?
I’m taking 13 with OSU.A neutral field and that rushing O should keep Ohio state in this game until the finish.
If you’re looking for some real ass kicking in the Bowls try K state at 17 1/2,Pa.state at 6 and Texas at 10.Their opponents are really overmatched.
The most watchable game looks like Iowa/USC,which should have gone to the Rose-what’s up with that?
The most undeserving for the big money is Fla.St.in the Sugar.A gross miscarriage of injustice to the Big 10 and 12 2 and 3 loss teams.
Well, let’s see Rhum Runner.
Imagine if Ohio State and Miami couldn’t match up. Miami would play #3 Georgia, OSU would play in the Rose vs the Pac 10 champ Washington State (currently #6).
Now imagine OSU not only asking for an equal share of the championship, but demanding both polls over Miami in this scenario. After all, remember that missed FSU field goal?
I don’t dispute that OSU is over rated, and I think Miami is too. I was just saying that Michigan wasn’t hiding in the Rosebowl in '97, and IMHO was a better team than Nebraska. Remember Fulmer voted Michigan 5th that year, just so Osborn would win one more in his last year.
Personaly I prefer the old bowl system over the BCS, but we are getting rather far afield here…
Mindless Ohio State support has arrived.
** Again dons the helmet and shakes boody **
Go Buckeyes! Go Buckeyes!
Honestly, as am KneeJerk, I’ll say I hope this game isn’t an offensive blow out. Nothing more annoying than watching a game where the offences have collectivly scored more than 60 points. Give me a defensive game anyday. Give me a score of less than 20. Hell, just give me a game worth watching.
** swings arms and leaves room **
Miami will OBLITERATE Ohio State! Take away Clarett, and what does OSU have? Nothing! fuhgettiboutit! Miami 45 OSU 17.
A bad ass D.Macgahee’s worst nightmare.Take away Miami’s balance and you’ve got the game halfway won. They can’t live on an exclusive hope from Dorsey’s passing.Check out what that D did to Larry Johnson, this year’s 2k yard rusher.
I don’t see the winner here scoring more than abt 24-28 points. You don’t believe that check out Miam’s offense ** at home ** to Fla.St.This is the type of scenario a bowl game is played in - the must win.
Forget all those 40+ point offenses against inferior competitition, and focus on the games where they actually had some competition. OSU’s had a few of them Miami not so much. The consequences of playing a Big East schedule.
Bad ass defense? Ohio State? You are kidding right? You must be kidding.
Points scored against Ohio State (compare to VT’s 45 against Miami):
Texas Tech: 21
Kent State: 17
Washington State: 7
Cincinnati: 19
Indiana: 17
Northwestern: 16
San Jose State: 7
Wisconsin: 14
Penn State: 7
Minnesota: 3
Purdue: 6
Illinois: 16
Michigan: 9
Of course, it could simply be a coincidence that all those ranked teams just had bad days.
UM can’t handle an opposing quarterback who runs. Krenzel doesn’t run. Miami by 18.
At least that’s what I heard on the radio this morning.
Rhum Runner
Location: Illinois
Check these numbers.Taking out the Minny game sice blowouts skew numbers,in their last 5 Big ten tussles-Wisc.Purdue,and Ill.on the road,Pa.St and Mich at home:
Opponents Rush
185 for 492 a 2.9 avg.
Pass 167 att for 1095 yds.a 6.5 yd avg.per att.with 13 sacks and 8 ints.
If this doesn’t spell bad ass D to you,it should.Very few college teams could match these numbers, and if any can,you can bet they were against cheaper than the teams OSU’s D racked up those numbers against.
Further in 1 1/2 of those games the O was without Clarett, putting a bigger responibilty on the D.
These are the numbers I used to make my +13 OSU bet.Have no fan’s stake in it.Judging from your listed location the you’re kidding comment came from that biased view.
Nice to be a fan,tho even better to acknowledge the other guy’s strengths.Helps to understand the wins and losses.
