So how hot is it?

It’s not hot! Yipee!

At least until tomorrow when the predictions are 95 and lots of humidity.

Right now, it’s 90 with a heat index of 94. I’m looking forward to a nice bike ride in a couple of hours on a bike path down by the river, so I can enjoy the weather. And I do like cycling in hot weather. The weird thing is, since you’re creating a breeze as you ride, most of your sweat evaporates very quickly, and you don’t feel it. Then you stop riding, and for a time you continue sweating heavily, so it seems to pop up from nowhere afterward.

Update: we’re now up to 99F/37C, with a heat index of 104/40C. The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning! Fancy. Anyway, I’m getting bored sitting around the house, so I’m going to brave the heat and go do stuff.

89F with 70% humidity, giving a heat index of 103. Tomorrow the heat index is supposed to be 111F.

Here in Mid-Mo it’s 101 degrees, with a heat index of 105. Humidity’s only 31%, though, instead of our usual 50 gazillion percent; we haven’t had any rain in weeks.

Thank gods for central air. When I was a kid we didn’t have central air. I used to sleep in the backyard to keep cool. Woke up one morning with a chicken on my head. It’s nice, now I’m grown, to sleep in a nice cool bedroom with no chickens.

It was so hot in DC that Karl Rove was outing CIA agents for a Klondike bar.

I’m back. That sucked, pretty much. It’s now 102F/39C with a heat index of 107F/42C. I don’t have AC, but the fan is on full blast, I have a glass of cold water, and the shades are down. Much better.

Well my official thermometer ,ya know the one out on the corn crib, was pegged at 120 at 3:00 pm.It was in the sun. The one on the enclosed front porch said 105.
the one on a post in the back yard said 98.
So Hell, who knows.
Damned hot it was.
A bench under the shade tree was the place to be at my house. Lots of water was also helpful.
I tried beer but I could feel the alcohol after only 2.
Its supposed to be hot again tomorrow.
Got to work at 2:30 PM. No air conditioning at the plant. Its really unbearable if you don’t have a fan.
Everybody please stay cool.

Today’s high in Boise was 96, according to www.wunderground.com . This is down from a four-day streak of 100+ days we had last week, the highest being 107 during that time (and for the month).

Today it was 98 here in Lancaster. I spent the weekend in Palm Springs though and it was about 109 when we got there Friday. Right now in my house it’s 80 at 66% humidity, blargh.

I wanna move to Seattle!

Three deaths so far.

100 forcast for today
101 forcast for tomorrow
101 forcast for Wed.

Add the humidity and you’re looking at about 115.

I like it hot, but this is a bit much even for me.

Today, in west central Indiana, it is forecast to be near 100. Again. The heat index is forecast to be near 115. They have issued an Excessive Heat Warning for our area. I’ll be staying inside, in the a/c! Modern conveniences are wonderful!

The forecast for today is 99F with a heat index of 110F. Tomorrow, 100F with a heat index of 110F. Friday’s forecast (my birthday) calls for a 40% chance of rain, with a temperature of 95F and a heat index of 100-105F.

I don’t mind it so much though. I can stay inside in air conditioned comfort or go splash around in the pool. I am a summer baby, so bring it on!
