So I Guess We Need A MMP

Cool!

After the urgent Zoom meeting of the COVID collaborative, I begin to see why my state’s vaccination process is so screwed up. Holy frick. “Who should we add to those eligible before Pres. Biden’s May 1st deadline even though we have no clue if we’re going to get more vaccine and don’t have enough now for those eligible?” about sums it up. Kids, do your homework before class.

I went for a long walk. It was sunny, but I really needed to de-stress after that mess. I was walking around the small lake downtown, a path that was very busy today. So why out of all those people, does this guy literally flag me down to talk to me? I had on big sunglasses and a face mask, so he couldn’t even see my face. I thought he needed help or knew me or something…nope. And he wasn’t flirting or proselytizing. People are strange.

I stopped at an overpriced grocery store I almost never go to on the way home to get a cucumber for my salad. I cannot shop for a cucumber without remembering the scene from Animal House when Otter, uh, makes a comparison.

For some reason, I hurt all over. Hopefully not the sun exposure.

I laughed. I also teared up. I’ve always said I want to die just before Daylight Savings begins. I love that man.

Boo, glad you’re all vaxxed now. Nice you and hippie and sunflower will get to meet.

Hugs to all. I’m headed to a steaming hot bath.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 52 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 84 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. No plans whatsoever today outside the makeage and eatage of sup. Sup shall be burgers 'n fixin’s with fries. Sloth shall rule the day!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Mildly achy this morning, but not too bad, considering the physical laboring I did yesterday. If all goes well, FCD and I will get the raised bed frame built today and I can start adding dirt. Tomorrow, we’re going to daughter’s to help them with their yard. FCD will be teaching SIL to use the chainsaw - what could possibly go wrong with that?? I’m going to help my daughter clear an area for Roxy to play and maybe figure out where to put some lattice and what to grow on it. I think her yard is too shaded for wisteria, alas.

Some of my seedlings have already started to sprout.

I need to protect them from Taz till I can put them outside - probably at least another week, based on weather forecasts. We shall see.

Another weird dream last night set in my childhood home. The people who lived there had a pet tiger, and I was trying to figure out how they would get the tiger back into its cage. For some reason, that process was really important for me to understand. At least I didn’t wake up angry about it.

BBBoo and hippie - I hope you manage a coffee-meet-up! There better be pictures, dammit! The nearest Mumper to me is tugig, and he doesn’t show up nearly enough. I think the last time I saw him was when he and MetalMouse were at my house for a party. That’s been some years ago… Dang.

Once FCD gets up, I guess we’ll don grubbies and get to work. What are the chances of this evolution going smoothly? Place your bets!

And onward! Happy Saturday!!

So I guess that means I’m also immortal as I’ve just about clocked my fifty-first lap (will be later today, as it is the local equilvalent of a few minutes before midnight).

Hugs to wifey. Health problems put everything else in perspective, and not always in a good way. :frowning:

Last year’s birthday was rainy and pandemic. This year’s is bright and windy* and pandemic. Hoping next year we can finally get rid of the pandemic.

Made chicken piccata with cheesy bowties for lunch. Dinner will be magic pizza from the world’s best pizza maker (as defined in Italy) and cake. There will be alcohol, but just hubby, one friend and me, due to current restrictions. Winter’s coming back, but the bulbs are blooming and one of our neighbor’s already mowed their lawn. Probably was teacher’s pet when he was in school.

Been working long days and Monday we have off, so we can do some of those other things. Shops have been open for two weeks and there are still long lines, especially on the weekend. So hopefully we can buy some items that are difficult to buy online.

I should buy peas for planting. I think I can plant them outside already, even though it’s getting rather cold at night. It’s predicted to stay above freezing, but not by much.

  • When it’s windy like this, we say it’s Pigleting, from Pooh’s Blustery Day. I think Piglet’s flown by a few times already.

Happy Saturday!

I feel I slept late, even though I was only in bed 8 hours. (Wait… for me that is ‘sleeping in’.) If I get up at the same Zulu time tomorrow, I won’t have gotten up until 08:10! (Man, I wish we’d stay on Standard Time all year.)

Good morning!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, dog walked, bed stripped and a load of sheets and towels ready for the dryer. Once KP is done, I’ll get sheveled and go fetch some groceries.

When I sat up getting out of bed this morning, I was stuck with a charlie horse in my right thigh. This tells me that the diuretics need to be adjusted again. This afternoon, I’ll head to Mount Juliet to pick up a Marketplace buy, but that’s the extent of my excitement for the day. It’s been raining on and off yesterday and through the night / morning, so the dog park is right out. Maybe I’ll take Nelson to Lowe’s for an outing.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I’m pretty excited about it. A mini-Mumper fest will make all the vaccination ordeal worthwhile. I’ll try to remember to bring some coasters so they won’t think I’m uncouth-probably should go put them in my purse so I don’t forget. Appearances and all, don’tchaknow?

:musical_note::musical_notes::tada::birthday_cake::confetti_ball: happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you..:musical_note::musical_notes::woman_dancing:t3::man_dancing:t2::bottle_with_popping_cork::clinking_glasses::tada::birthday_cake::confetti_ball::musical_notes::musical_note:

Love the pigleting expression, I’m going to use it frequently in the new few weeks. That is what spring in Nebraska is often about-gusting winds that stir everything up that isn’t well and truly nailed down. I love me windy days.

Morning, all. It showered all night around these parts, so the snow is way down the mountain behind the house. 42 degrees outside and cloudy, so this is a good day to just stay inside and read. Maybe do a load of laundry. I did make a quick run to the local Mexican drive-thru for machaca & eggs for breakfast. No need to be a total bum this weekend.

Injection site soreness, but that’s it 17 hours post-shot. We shall see. My friends who have had reactions say they hit around the 24 hour mark.

Have a safe and happy weekend, folks!

Afternoon all.

I don’t really care one way or another about daylight savings- not that we get it here for another few weeks, but I always have sympathy for one of my Aussie cousins, who used to live about 5 minutes into Queensland, Australia, and work in NSW: NSW does daylight savings, Queensland does not. Cue lots of showing up late/early for things because oops, the cinema’s on that side of the border.

Anyway, nothing especially exciting is going on around here; washing has been done, I found a nice new place to go walkies (muddy, but everywhere is), and the shops have been nipped to.

I suspect I’m a bit far to come over for a visit BBBoo

We will figure out something, Mumper Zoom fests, something where we can see each other’s faces in real time.

Afternoon all.

Slow day here, did some laundry, not gonna fold it cuz

(I have no idea where that’s from, but I agree with it)

Dinner shall be leftover chicken teriyaki turned into sammich with pineapple and homemade duck sauce.

Love the “pigleting” idea. Yesterday was a really piglet day, the wind almost ripped the car door out of my hand at one point.

Happy sattiday, and stay safe, all.

I’ve quit for the day - here’s where things stand:

The soil that’s in there is what I screened. The rocks between the bed and the greenhouse are about a third of what I screened out. I want to get 6-8 bags of composted manure which I’ll mix with the topsoil that FCD bought and that will get dumped on top. And if the forecast is close to accurate, I should be able to start planting by the first of April.

We went to Olive Garden for soup and salad. I needed some veggie matter and the minestrone is full of 'em. Then we ran by WalMart because I was low on cat food and I needed a backup box of cat litter. I also got Higgs some treats because I’m nice, dammit.

When we finished that, we drove by the construction site where our former employer is building a new engineering/manufacturing facility. It’s going to be amazing!! I’m envious - I almost wish I was able to work there. I will try to wrangle an invite to tour it.

It’s nearly 3. FCD is napping. I think I’ll cut up our old sheet sets into rags, since I promised to take some to my daughter. Other than that, chillage shall ensue.

I’ve been meaning to ask about those shots, Boo. Wifey has been having awful headaches the last year or so. (The docs can’t find anything to pin the blame on.) How long are they good for? Are there a bunch of shots? How effective are they? Anything else we should know? Thanks for any info you can offer.

We drove up to the bustling metropolis of The Dalles yesterday to shop. Got home around 7 and brought the food stuffs in but left all the painting supplies in the car. I’ll need to go down and get them later today. We’re gonna paint our basement floor when it’s warm enough. That means I’ll need to move everything to one side of the basement so we can paint that half, and them move it all to the other side to paint that half. Then, finally, everything will go to it’s final resting place.

We had intended to go to a semi-famous burger joint in The Dalles for dinner, but when we got there they said they weren’t allowing dine-in yet, though we’d been told they were, so we came on home and ate cold fried chicken we’d bought from Safeway to be eaten at a later date.

Daughter and SIL showed up around 9 last night. We’re having a brithday celebration tonight for Wifey and Sil’s birthdays. Celebration meaning we’ll eat cake (also procured from Safeway) and SIL will open a couple of presents. That’s about as wild as we get.

Dinner tonight might be salmon, I’m not sure, but we bought a nice big filet yesterday, so I suspect it will.

Take care.

The Botox shots worked well for me. At first they made the migraines I did get less severe, then over time the less severe migraines became less frequent. Now after two+ years of shot series every three months I’m having virtually no headaches at all of any severity or frequency. Everybody’s headaches are different, different causes, etc so that is only one story. I get 33 shots every three months (Have to drive 110miles round trip to get to the only headache specialist Board certified neurologist in my state who does them. That 33 shots sounds much worse than it is. Of that 33, 6 are into my jaw joint on each side to reduce bruise so it started out being 27 shots. Those are the tiniest needles you can imagine, barely under the skin and only a tiny area of Botox solution injected in each-it is not like a vaccination injection or even an insulin injection. Finer needle and not as deep. Less than pinpricks. Basically spaced around my hairline all around and then a few an inch or so down the back of my neck just below my hairline. I converse with my doc while he is doing them. I know he had to argue with my insurance to get them to pay for them the first time but once he did it has been fine (Medicare & BC/BS supplemental. Here’s another reason not to try to save bucks by going the Medicare Advantage route. An Advantage plan would have kept refusing until I died of something else. I digress)

So, my suggestion? Consult a neurologist with a specialization in headache medicine. S/he will examine and assess her for the cause(s) of her headaches and lead you through treatments that hopefully will prevent the bulk of them and treat the few that may happen. A headache neurologist is kind of a special beast-takes a certain kind of patience and interest in puzzles to do it right. Plus an ability to be able to believe in your patients and laugh at your own doctor self. If you want to PM you nearest medical center city or zip code I’ll use my nurse fu to hunt one down for you.

And :tada::confetti_ball::birthday: :notes::musical_note:Happy Birthday Wifey and SIL :notes::musical_note:

OK, just registered FCD a second time for his plague vaccine. He’ll be getting the J&J (one shot) on Firday! WOOHOO!!!

Nice! The Ms wants to try growing potatoes this year. She bought a couple of potato-growing-sack-things that have a trap door on the side for harvesting. Should be interesting.

A whole week of sunny days so far, which is refreshing after the winter gray. Out for walks every day trying to soak up some vitamin D.

Had a nice pastrami sandwich yesterday. I think I’ll make some pastrami hash for tomorrow’s breakfast.

Afternoon all. Was so excited/worried about soccer starting that I got up at 5:30am and finally went to the field about 8am…and then had to rush home because I forgot all the paperwork. Games went off without a hitch (boys lost 1-2 and girls won 4-1) and the game I was supposed to referee was cancelled, so I hing around and did another game at 1:30pm that went well. Upshot is I got home about 3pm, having survived the day on three cans of Pepsi/Mt. Dew and a can of Pringles. Will try to eat a little healthier tonight and tomorrow…

BBBoo, if I was about 400 miles closer… And 33 shots of anything, even with tiny needles, is something which I will not put up with…

Enjoy the celebrations, Bumba.

A well-earned rest, indeed FCM.

Booked a COVID appointment via the Alabama Dept. of Health, but not until 17 May. Will try to improve on that if I can, but at least I have a target.

Now need to see if I can move some…take care all.

I’ll give you that. 132 shots a year? These are just not the times to be bandying around the idea of 132 shots a year. I guess with the vaccine jabs that will make it 134 for me for 2021-knock on wood.

Mrs. L.A. is a practicing RN who visits elderly patients in their homes. She is eligible for a COVID shot. She can’t find anyplace to get one. Last night at the Mexican restaurant, one of the waiters (not ours last night, but he came over to say hello since we eat there a lot) said he was able to get a shot and shared a tip.
