So I Guess We Need A MMP

Among the many advantages of vaccines coming soon for everyone, including teachers, is that the grade school teacher across the street will be going back to the classroom. She’s doing remote teaching right now. She has set up a kind of mock schoolroom/stage in her garage, and her computer screen is set up so that she faces out towards the driveway as she talks to it and her class. Except instead of “talks” substitute the word “yells”. And she keeps her garage door open even if it’s cold and blustery.

Our house is directly across the street from her garage, so we hear the near-constant yelling lecture all day. Get thee back into the classroom, loud teacher!

The better part of upcoming vaccine availability is that young lasses like me will soon be able to get it. I’m hoping for the J&J one as it’s a one-and-done shot. They might even have a site set up in my own town so that I don’t have to drive twenty miles away to get it.

Mom, I’d like to do raised beds, too, but invasive birch roots have rendered my yard totally hostile to vegies and flowers. I have to content myself with three whiskey barrels, which are at the moment planted with lots of bright violas. They’re certainly easier to maintain than raised beds, though. I put them on top of bricks so that birch roots don’t weasel their way up into the barrels.

To get a shingles vaccination on the NHS you have to be between 70 and 78. I believe that there is a program to extend it more widely but C19 may have buggered that…

I had mine last year.

Katz’s Deli in Manhattan had a “free” shipping deal, so we splurged on pastrami, rye, matzoh soup, pickles, swiss, and sauerkraut. Shipping was only “free” in the sense that it wasn’t a line item.

Today is just gloomy. Akiko is sticking close, so maybe I’m exuding stress.

'Beamer has a dr’s appt today, but I’m not sure he’ll make it. He has a migraine and missed school. It’s his checkup, not a specialist’s appointment, so I don’t see the point in making him do it while he’s unwell.

I think I’ll try eating to see if that perks me up. I haven’t eaten yet, so that might help.

Take care y’all.

Sheesh - just make him a plain piece. How hard is that? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’ve quit the yard work for the day. FCD and I built a screen box and I removed a lot of rocks from the soil. I think I’ve dug down enough, but we’ll see tomorrow when we frame it in. Once I get the depth I want, I’ll line it with landscape cloth and dump in the soil I screened today, plus the topsoil we bought and a few bags of composted manure. And I think when I plant the veggies, I’ll put down another layer of landscape cloth to minimize weeds (theoretically.)

But for now, I need to snarf down some ibuprofen and relax a bit. Oh, and I may have gotten into some poison ivy yesterday. There’s a small spot on my left wrist that looks and feels like it’s been poisoned. Dammit. It had to have been a root, because I know what that evil plant looks like. Oh well…

I’ll be taking the landscape cloth back to Lowe’s. I found slightly small rolls at the dollar store for lots less money. The 4’X50’ rolls from Lowe’s were $19 each, and I got 3’X45’ rolls from the dollar store for $5 each. So I’ll do the return, then make a stop at Aldi since it’s in the neighborhood.

Later. Chillage now.

Mooomm poison ivy is nasty stuff, especially those sneaky roots. I think I’ve mentioned before our neighbors who burned all of the poison ivy they had trimmed. The smoke can also cause an allergic reaction, with added internal issues. In any case, don’t scratch! :smiling_imp:

I now have 3 whole dogs almost on top of me. Hmmm… earthquake? Tsunami? Paper cut? Something’s coming.

FCM Good luck at Aldi. Mine today was like an episode of the walking dead with people sloooowly shambling along. And the irritating lady with Men at Work as a ring tone—“Who can it beee now?” I swear it went off 6 times in the 15 minutes I was in there.

Every year since 2013, when it’s time to switch the clocks forward, I think of Harry Stamps and his obituary. I never heard of him until it went viral. I still wish I had someone to write like that for me. Read about Harry, if you h aven’t before, it’s perfectly safe for work. And don’t be surprised when/if you laugh.

:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: His final protest

:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Great obit, feel the love

Believe it or not I actually wrote to my congressman about that. No reply of course, but I did it.

Mrs. L.A. brought spinach home, so I said ‘OK, we can have steak and creamed spinach for dinner.’ She said, ‘Or… We can go to Paso del Norte tonight, have salmon tomorrow, and steak and spinach on Sunday.’ Sounds good to me!

Our Aldi isn’t too bad, apart from people who stop in the middle of an aisle to look at something. There’s plenty of room for 2 carts side by side, but not so much when some bozo takes their half out of the middle. But I’m retired - what else am I going to do?? But I agree about annoying ring tones. Spousal unit has “One pill makes your larger and one makes you small…” - no clue why he chose that.

I had to take a shower - I felt so grubby from my labors today. So now I’m clean and ready for bed even tho it’s not even 7 yet. Full chillage mode!

Time to shut down the computer and assume the recline position with my tablet.

Shot has been shotted, so now I am home and soothing the trauma with Malbec. Two weeks until full-ish immunity, which means midway through Spring Break I can…do jack that I haven’t been doing, because it’s foolish not to take precautions until everyone-ish is shotted. Now to ride out the weekend waiting for a reaction. Only a sore arm from the first one. Let’s see what Round 2 does.

About 30 hours out from jab #2 of Pfizer I can tell which arm it is if I rub the spot really hard. Otherwise not much. Had a brief spell of maybe very slight lightheadedness just about 20 hours post jab but still not sure if was because I had had only one mug of coffee and Nilla wafers for breakfast instead of two mugs and something other than, well, cookies for breakfast. A Coke Zero and a grilled cheese sandwich and I was just fine. Had a cuppa Earl Grey tea mid afternoon because I hear that an afternoon cuppa cures what ails you.

Look out all Mumpers! This means I’m fully vaccinated and I can come hunt you down and visit you later this year. I will bring my own coasters and fingertip towels and my candles will all have pre-blackened wicks cause I’m couth like that.

boofae, I don’t bother with the car clock for the same reasons you hate resetting it. :stuck_out_tongue: Unless it’s been in the shop where they’ve had to disconnect the power, it stays on the same time all year.

Irked, came home in the rain and chilled for a bit before heading to Lavergne for some street tacos from the good taco truck. I got two lengua, two carnitas, some slaw and some plain carnitas in a baggie for Nelson. 'Twas yum!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! I did stuff, achieved nappage, and made and et sup. How do I keep up the pace!

Yay for everyone gettin’ shot at and jabbed! We might just beat this thing yet!

@BippityBoppityBoo
We get our second shot tomorrow at 5.00pm. I read that we need to wait two weeks for the vaccine to take effect. Once that happens, let me know when your next Omaha trip happens. We will at the every least meet for coffee.

As far as ringtones, I strongly prefer instrumentals. My defaults are excerpts from either “Tubular Bells” or “1812 Overture” (I switch between them on whim). DH insists that I use that piece from “2001” as a custom one for him (this is also his default on his own phone).

Allie, aka the Princess, comes running when I start playing with ringtones and such on my phone, for some feline “fuzzy logic” reason.

We have an enormous box elder tree in our front yard. It has been increasingly infested with carpenter ants. A pretty large branch came down on our house in late summer. Fortunately we had no damage from that incident.

I had a guy come out today to give me a bid. Monday I will call the guy back and schedule a removal. It was a nice tree but it is dying a horrible death due to the carpenter ants.

We will be moving from shade/part sun to full sun in the front yard. Sunflower is already planning what to plant

I should be heading that way for migraine Botox injections in a month or two! Woo-hoo! A mini-mumper fest!
