So I Guess We Need A MMP

Mom, I was told that you shouldn’t build your raised beds with PT lumber 'cause the chemicals leach into the soil and thence into your veggies. I don’t know if that’s true, and I went ahead and built mine with some PT lumber I already had lying around and it hasn’t affected us any, that I know of. @ scratches itchy third eye with tail @
Just something to be aware of.

Well, Bumba, ya gotta die from something… :open_mouth: Actually, supposedly it’s no longer true.

I lied. We didn’t have pulled poke because neither of us really wanted it. So we ordered Chinese. We’ve had supper with enough left over for lunch tomorrow. Do all Chinese take-out places give you enough for 2 meals in one?

I got a delivery today of aluminum loaf pans and small round pans that I’ll use to make food for the inlaws. They really like the 'nanner bread I make, so I can make a bunch of small loaves for the freezer. And I’ll use the round pans to make individual serving casseroles or quiches. There are 50 of each - that should keep them fed for a while.

We just covered the dirt in the trailer, thereby guaranteeing that it won’t rain. But if it does. I don’t want my topsoil washing out all over the yard. We’ll see how much I can get done tomorrow. As for the rest of today - chillage!

Can I drop my laundry at your house cookie? :stuck_out_tongue:

So you were FCD’s spotter Moooooom?

Hope your knee feels better soon taters.

Happy birthday magic!

Yay nut!

shoe, I would rather contribute to your GFM for documents than your bail fund.

I have mixed feelings about DST. I barely remember my dad resetting the big living room clock before Indiana went to standard time year round (they change again now). I didn’t really encounter it until I left home for Colorado, then Tennessee. I love the extra daylight in the evening, but hate the extra month of going to work in the dark.

Irk is beginning to develop a bit of order now. My boss and I had our weekly one on one today and I recommended not only backfilling the reconciler who moved up to an analyst position, but adding another one. She agreed and is putting in a requisition.

In other irk related news, the receiving supervisor has left the company to pursue other opportunities and Baby mama has been put on PIP. Wonder how that happened?

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Evening all. Soccer has been practiced with 11 girls ages 7-9 and my hearing barely survived when I asked them for team names. Loud they were. We’re now the Rainbow somethings, I forget exactly (they might too) for Saturday. Need to come up with a lineup to fairly distribute time between 11 girls when I can play only 7 of them at a time. Wheeeee…

Stopped at Subway on the way back from the field, I suspect that may become a habit as I really don’t feel like fixing much after chasing the kids around.

red, it’s amazing how many people figure they can get away with something because nobody else will do the math…good on ya!!

FCM, I don’t do Chinese here, but when I visited China 2-3 years ago, I had no choice. Might be because we were tourists, but every place we went the amount of food was…over-enthusiastic. However, I did pass on the roasted scorpions…

Bumba, good on your shot record. I’m beginning to wonder if Huntsville Hospital has forgotten about me…will try them again tomorrow.

nellie, younger brother. Haven’t been really close for several decades, but he’s still about all the family I have left (outlived most everyone else).

OK, need to finish my sammich and Pepsi and be about internettin’. All y’all take care.

Howdy Y’a’ll! I did all the things I was supposed to do today, achieved nappage, and et sup. So I say I had a full day. Go Me!

Yay for all y’all who are gettin’ first or second jabs or have upcomin’ appointments! Sorry about FCD. Hopefully he’ll get jabbed at soonest.

And now this…

< AHEM > CLEARIN’ THROAT < AHEM .

HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY DDDEEEAAARRR WWWIIIZZZAAARRRDDD!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

My preferred magic Internet Chinese place certainly does. One of their orders of fried rice makes easily three or four servings (great for irk lunches).

Callers actually qualified as intelligent life and were not generally jerks. Wish I could say the same for the co-irkers at other sites. Yesterday, I was talking to a sup (not my direct report) and told her I double-check just about anything done on accounts by people not at our site. She thought this was reasonable.

First bus on the trek home was running slow enough I was worried about my connection to bus 2. Wound up running through a mall parking lot, equivalent to about a block. Did make my connection, but running with a fabric mask on when allergies are running wild resulted in discovering how horribly out-of-shape I am, and a highly embarrassing round of coughing. Took well over half an hour for the coughing to completely stop (my throat almost felt like I might have inhaled a small bug or two during a few moments the mask was off while at the stop).

Mask stayed firmly on face the whole bus trip and I was as distant from others as the bus configuration allows, but other passengers still weren’t amused. (BTW, coughing that much into a fabric mask has quite icky results. As soon as I could unmask, I was slathering hand sanitizer on my face, and said face was washed quickly on arrival home.)

I’ve had a grilled cheese sandwich so far, and usually that’s a reasonable dinner. Seems to have been an appetizer on this occasion. Must go forage the kitchen. DH was in bed by the time I got home, so I’ll presume he fed himself. Did need to start a load of laundry. Small washer was full, must keep things moving.

Wizard!! Happy birthday! Also, my best wishes to your wife.

Are you driving with an expired license? If so, you gotta get that fixed. I think you should let us help if’n we wanna.

nettie - I find that chewing gum help stop the dry-throat coughing, especially when masked. Maybe it would help you.

I think i had a mostly dream-free, sleep-filled night, once I finally fell asleep. So I’ve got that going for me. We’ll make a run to Lowe’s this morning, and if the rain holds off, we should be able to get the raised bed built. If it does rain, I have a couple of loads of laundry that need laundering. Theoretically, that should keep me out of trouble, right?

Me neck feels like it’s a bit sunburned - probably time to break out the SPF 5000. Seems weird to have to do that in March!! Fake March. Real March returns tomorrow. It was nice while it lasted…

Happy Firday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 48 Amurrkin out and foggy with a predicted high of 81 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. This mornin’ I shall betake myself over to the church house to do walkabout of the grounds to see what needs doin’ now that Spring doth approach. Other than that the usual sloth shall ensue. Sup shall be salmon patties, peas (what we down here call English peas), smashed N.O.T. and bizkits, just cause.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

I really want some crab rangoon right the heck now. I haven’t had a lot of time to eat this week (somehow managed to lose 4 pounds, so I guess that’s…good?) and now I’m starving. Perhaps for lunch or dinner. It is Friday, after all.

It’s bright and sunny. Weather guy said it’d rain for about three or four days straight, but it’s bright and clear right now, albeit colder. I’m okay with that. Can’t wait for tomorrow - mom’s bringing over corned beef and cabbage, which I haven’t had in probably a decade. Also, apparently her throat is healing so even though she still needs a lidocaine mouthwash she’s starting to experience an appetite again, which is amazing.

I’m hoping I’ll get a trip in to Lowe’s this weekend. I need painter’s tape and I’d like to start looking at outdoor furniture for my front porch. Overlyhusband and I have very different philosophies: he likes to be as functional as possible and thus, absolutely nothing on the front porch. Or, when we do purchase something, he buys it for the furniture itself without a lot of regard for where he intends it to go, so we wind up with lots of huge wood pieces. But the front porch is mine. I experimented with flowers last year and the front porch looks great, but it’s lacking a couple of small wrought iron tables and a side table. So it’s time to shop around. Maybe an estate sale would have something nice?

Yay! I just got a date for getting the vax. Apparently my high blood pressure makes me eligible. And I’ll be getting it just before my best friends are due to have their baby.

If only the sciatica would calm down. This waking up with a pain in the ass sucks.

Now time to tell the CNC to make some stuff and start the day.

Stay safe, all.

Why do I imagine English peas as wearing tiny bowler hats and carrying eeny-weeny briefcases, even though I live in England and I have never seen anyone wearing a bowler hat that wasn’t in a costume?
Very odd.

It’s a proper day off today- not that I’m doing much with it. There’s not much to do- I’ve paid the year’s car tax - all our car stuff can be done online, so it’s not exactly difficult, and done a bit of washing. Also dropped off a parcel which had been mis-delivered, to the correct address (right number, wrong street). I’ll defilthify the room a bit, maybe go to the shop, and I think that might be enough responsibility for the day.

Back from Lowe’s. Dang, prices are crazy!! Even with our veteran discount, it was almost $90 for 2 2X6X10, 2 rolls of landscape fabric, a box of screws, and a replacement pad for my floor cleaner. Insane!!!

I’ve changed into my grubbies, and shortly, I’ll venture out to prep the spot for the raised bed. It will involve a lot of digging. rah. The problem will be the area where I need to dig - I know from experience that there’s lots of gravel-like crap not too far below the surface and inevitably, I hit a large-ish rock when I try to go deeper. So if you hear cussin’, that’s why.

The goal for today is to get the bed done. Anything else is a bonus.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s reasonably pleasant out there today, I only know because I emptied two of the litter trays this morning and went out to put the bag in the bin, and emptied the nearly-overflowing recycling box into the outside bin. Weather app says “Enjoy this mild weather. Shitty weather is probably on its way fucking soon” and promises me 9C/48F all day, partly cloudy.

Moooom what a shame about FCD’s shots. When I booked mine, our NHS site asked me about whether I’d had a flu jab in the last seven days or had one booked. I suppose shingles shots may be less common here, I don’t know anyone who’s had one or been offered one.

VanGo I had sciatica for the first time recently, it took nearly four weeks for it to finally feel better, but in the last couple of days my hip’s been achy and my ankle feels decidedly wobbly. I’m still determined to exercise it into submission so I bought some fancy new trainers instead.

Taters sorry to hear about the knee problems, definitely something that needs proper treatment!

We should be putting the clocks forward on 28th March which will start the usual arguments about whether we need to do it, whether we should, and (probably) whether we should still do it because of brexit. It’s got nothing to do with brexit but the gammons like to think they voted against everything else. I remember there being arguments about it due to kids in the north/Scotland having to go to school in the dark, and other arguments about farmers and lambing. It just annoys me because changing the clock in the car is a faff and I can’t remember which buttons I have to push!

Morning all. Been slow awakening today, even getting up at 6:30am, just waiting for the place to heat up some and then take a nice long hot bath to get the juices moving or something.

Rock on, FCM And I’ll understand any cussin’ you want to do…after all, you were a sailor…

VanGo, I’m just beginning to wonder if Ali-bama may be behind some of these other places when it comes to vaccinations…

{{Nettie}}, know what you mean by out-of-condition, chasing the kids this week has really worn me down (and I don’t have a job and travel like you). Hopefully as we get more chances to be out, it’ll get better.

Ok, need to forage for sustenance and get the bath ready. All y’all have a good Firday.

Good morning and happy Friday! I was originally up at 3:30 this morning but decided to go back to bed because I could, damn it. I woke up again at 6:15, so that’s really sleeping in for me.

I’ve Zoe coming for the weekend, so I need to get out to the backyard to make sure all the dog poo is picked up. It’s the prime time for it because it’s frosty out, so it’s easier to pick up and dispose of.

Our new computer is arriving today too, which kind of puts a kink in the plans I had for taking Zoe to the park since the arrival window is between 1:15 and 3:15 today. Someone has to be here to sign for it. I am just hoping the computer arrives at the earlier end of the window. If it doesn’t, I’ll just find something else to do with Zoe.

I don’t mind going to work in the dark, actually. Since I leave so early for work when I do commute, it’s still dark even with DST. I’d rather just stay on the time cycle we’ve got now. I think it’s ridiculous to change the clocks constantly.

FCM, yep prices at Lowes and Home Depot are just nuts. I noted that last summer. It’s easy to spend a ridiculous sum of money on very little there.

Finally, I am tired of people trying to basically get something for free from me. I listed a very large dog kennel/dog run for sale. Initially, I asked for $400 bucks at my husband’s behest, but I knew that was asking too much money. I got one hit from some nitwit who did not read the ad who kept asking for the dimensions and price which were in the ad. :: I lowered the price to 300 and now people are emailing asking to haggle and one told me to text him/her if I would part with it for $200. My husband told me to tell this person $250. No response, of course. Look, I just want to get rid of the damn thing, but mainly I am sick of dealing with the emails. I just wanted to donate it to a dog shelter AND I want it out of my yard! My husband is the one who insisted on selling it, but he’s not doing any of the work involved with it. I’ve got stuff to do man, you can do ONE thing, sheesh. (mini rant over)

Well, the coffee is done and it’s time to go on poop patrol.

Heaved, came home, did laundry. Nap time. It’s a beautiful day.

With slight modifications, this has been my day so far. 4am - Pixel heaved all over my arm and the bed. Already home, so I stuffed everything into the washing machine, started it and remade the bed with fresh sheets and blanket. Napped until 6:30. Saw frost on everything outside and almost went back to bed. But the day has turned quite pretty, Pix has apologized for her upset tummy and my feline masters and mistresses have moved on to the “nap in the sunbeams” portion of the morning. Only 2 classes to teach today, then off to meet a fellow teacher for lunch, then to get my second shot.

Have a safe and warm Firday, people!

Lunch break!!

The area I’m prepping is ridiculously overloaded with river rock, for some reason. FCD fixed up our old mattock, and it’s definitely better than the shovel for breaking everything up. After I eat, I’m running to Ace Hardware for a hunk of hardware cloth to make a screen so I can sift the rocks out of the soil. Dunno if we’ll get the frame built and in place today, but I think I can get all the soil screened. I’ve got at least 2 big buckets for the rock, and I can find more if I need them. This will be a back-achy afternoon, methinks.

And no rain - I guess we chased it away by covering the dirt in the trailer! Which means once I get the raised bed done, I need to wash my car so it’ll rain, right?

Onward!!

I informed Mrs. L.A. that the dinner choices today are Mexican (restaurant), rib-eye steaks, or salmon. She only has seven hours to decide.

When I make the salmon, tonight or on the weekend, I’ll bake it with kosher salt and dill. I’d like to make blackened salmon, but I know Tonka is going to beg and I don’t want to give him the spices.
