So is David Tennant out - or not?

calling all whovians: what’s the skinny?

will DT be departing the role of the doctor or do we get him for another season?

this robert carlyle [have they lost their damn minds?? what’s up with that??] just looks too scary to be the new doc!)

They’ve filmed the next Christmas special already. There are photos floating around showing that the part of the Doctor will be played by

David Tennant.

He will also star in the 2009 specials (in place of a full series) that are yet to be filmed.

The fifth season has been formally commissioned but no announcement has been made about who will star in it.

Nor has it been announced when David Tennant and I will be getting married, but hopefully it will be very soon.

We can make it a double! You and Tennant, me and Barrowman.

Wow I totally had the wrong idea of what this thread would be about!

No, EOD, Tennant is as straight as you can expect a British actor to be. Maybe straighter.

Which, I suspect, ain’t a ringing endorsement, but guys who are into guys who look really creepy when they smile or get mad (hard to tell the difference) are probably SOL. Probably.

But he’s a pretty good Doctor.

I misread it as “cut - or not?” which was all sorts of wrong over the wrong you had :stuck_out_tongue:

Expect? Emphasis on British or actor?

John Barrowman on the other hand. . .

I’ve heard the rumour abut Robert Carlyle a few times, has anyone got a cite to back it up? If it is him he might not be too scary, remember Hamish Macbeth?

I suspect it’s just a rumour, also James Nesbitt has been mentioned as a possible DT successor.

I like DT and would be happy for him to stick around for the specials etc, but if he has chosen to leave I’m sure they’ll find a worthy replacement. It happens every time there’s a regeneration. Will it be a woman? Will it be actor x, y or z?

Lot’s of idle speculation, but lets face it in over 40 years of DW they’ve never really picked a bad one. A few had teething troubles, but all settled in and picked up a fan base. I’ve been googling for days and not found any concrete spoilers for the “Journey’s End” episode. So I’m content just to sit back and see what happens.

The wife of one of my friends is convinced that Tennant is “in the closet” and that his girlfriends are just to cover it up so that he can get a film deal.

My wife and I disagree, but we could be wrong, who knows?

My husband (complete and raving Whovian) says

Tennant is signed on until 2010, and has vowed to outlast Pertwee’s record.

Don’t know where he read it.

I read that on the Sylvester McCoy website. . Hope it’s true.

Although he’s still got a few years to go before he beats Tom Baker’s record continuous run (1974-1981). I say continuous because if not then McCoy is the longest chronologically speaking as he played from 1987-1996. Although much of that was on sabbatical.

I tell’yas, that pickled hand in a jar is going to be in play.

Heh, imagine Daniel Craig as the Doctor. Though Colin Salmon would be a cool choice.

See, that’s why it works…

That page was awesome. Thank you for the link.

All the rumors I heard was that Tennant would return under Moffat. I am looking forward to it.

Tennant is seriously dating the actressed that played his daughter and is really the daughter of a prior Doctor.

given that he’s apparently said before that the reason he got into acting in the first place was because he wanted to play the Doctor, i doubt he’s going anywhere yet.

Rumour is we’re in for a ‘botched regeneration’ type thing.

Rumour is that …

He’ll regenerate into Peter Davison, then Sylvester McCoy, then back into Tennant, thus becoming the threefold man

Finally we know the Doctor’s real name. “Peter Moffet”, who’d have thought it?

And, amusingly played his daughter in an episode the introduced her. I didn’t know if that episode was well-known enough yet.

The son of Doctor no. 2 starred in Midnight as the professor second guessing the Doctor and a few other episodes besides that.
