So is Luann about to lose her virginity?

Why would it be alienating? From a narrative standpoint it isn’t as stupid as bunch of virgin college students.

Well, even if Luann isn’t getting laid, at least someone is.

Somehow I think that these days “virgin” is the antonym of “reckless.”

So an adult woman considering her first sexual relationship is automatically reckless?

No, if she actually goes through with it with someone she doesn’t know she is taking a chance. Like driving at 60 mph blindfolded.

Just how many people do you think are dying on a daily basis due to sex?

I’m not talking about death…I’m talking about other consequences–unwanted pregnancies, STD’s, …you probably know more about the ramifications than you’re admitting…eh wot?

Let’s get back to the subject of Luann, the comic, and take this hijack to another thread (or the Pit).

So back to the topic of Luann having sex, I don’t see her hooking up with Pru. My money’s on Muncher.

(Really, what is Greg Evans going for with that particular nickname? Is he oblivious to the urban dictionary definition, or is he seeing how far he can push things?)

Now that is down right tacky, dougie. Shame! :dubious:

It would seem to me that the subject matter you and others are suggesting is outside the theme of the strip. I doubt that the readers want it, and if you believe they do you are assuming a lot.

Most likely the latter, since I can’t even think of a possible derivation that doesn’t come from it.

My motto is “Adapt or be left behind.” I suppose for those that aren’t interested in the new directions Evans is taking, there’s a host of other old school family comics, like Wizard of Id, Beetle Bailey, Family Circus, Cathy, Ziggy, Garfield, Broom Hilda, Shoe, etc. No one can appeal to all groups at all times. And maybe, just maybe, these issues are close to his heart and he feels the need to discuss or highlight them in the arena in which he has a bit of a platform. Just a thought.

That sounds like an obligation to be hypocritical. :frowning:

That’s an incredibly interesting take on not getting stuck in the past. Or held to a rigid dogma that no longer fits your life. Or any number of negative things when it absolutely doesn’t have to be.

However, I’d simply say that if the strip is moving in different directions than you prefer and there hasn’t been a general hue or cry about it, the onus is on the individual to figure something out. For myself, just like when cherished celebrities out themselves contrary to my beliefs, I find something (or someone) more palatable to my views. I may grieve the loss, but it definitely does no good to rail against life. None of us are getting out of it intact.

Why not wait to see what’s going to happen instead of arguing about what people are speculating *might *happen?

First, I didn’t think anyone was arguing, and second, it is fact that the strip has gone on in a more progressive manner. I mean, are there any others like it that now have an openly lesbian character? I think that’s worth a nod and a discussion. YMMV.

You don’t hang out in any of the TV or Politics threads, do you?

Thought not.

That is not as much fun.
:dubious:

Her first all-the-way relationship, but I’m sure she and Quill went to at least 2nd base and maybe 3rd, off camera.
