So I've found the most addicting game that exists on the internet. No, seriously

The Golden Cooke result that gives bonus cookies instead of bonus production gives an amount that depends on the number of cookies in your bank, up to some maximum that depends on your production rate. If the bonus cookies are trivial to you, try keeping more cookies in your bank unspent.

I started clicking cookies out of one eye during the 2nd half of the Broncos game. By midnight my gf was forcing me to turn it off, and it is clear already that she does not approve of Cookie Clicker.

I’m up to 14 antimatter condensers and ~42 million cps. I see scanning the thread that this is peanuts. Obviously I have a lot to learn about baking cookies.

All right. I’m going to save, I’m going to reset, I am going to load up on cursors and grandmas, and I am going to click me some golden cookies. My gf is already a little annoyed, and I haven’t even started yet!

I guess my position on the ‘garbage’ improvement is: if you can grab one every 1-3 seconds, might as well. Waiting 5 minutes for the super-efficient improvement is kind of counter-productive if you could collect 75 improvements over the same time… sometimes.

Well I’m sorry I killed the Cookie Clicker thread. I think it’s fun, the mathematical puzzle of it is novel at least, and the progression of the game can be taken as a metaphor for the way some psychological/spiritual phenomena play out in subjective experience- things like ‘building up treasure in heaven’ for those types, or simply acquiring credibility or what have you.

Anyway, I totally got punked on the reset- I just did not understand how the heavenly chips worked…

I think it’s best as a metaphor for the US Federal budget. As it moves up into scientific notation, the numbers thrown around in DC begin to feel more familiar. I can totally “get” now that, you know, we need to be investing in AMCs, which are now at $12345+23, and Party X is making noise about their willingness to give up five Grandmas, or four cursors if Party Y would only be reasonable enough to sell 50 or so Time Machines.

I don’t doubt for second that there are little tips and tricks to make things go a bit faster (Autoclicker and Cookie Monster are great ideas, should’ve thought of that), but the rampant hyperinflation is just too much for me. I’m especially glad I never made it as far as the red cookies. Bad enough you have one reward vastly greater than the other, now the special item penalizes 2/3 of the time? I don’t care if it’s a good gamble in the long run, that would be a backbreaker for me.

I see references to “hard reset” and “soft reset.” I see only “Reset” on my menu.

BTW, I have 200 cursors, 200 grandmas, 142 portals, 112 time machines, 87 AMCs and 150 of everything else.

The reset option would be the soft reset. You keep your achievements, your heavenly chips, all that good stuff. The other option is to wipe your save and start over with nothing. No bonuses. As if it were the first time you laid eyes on orteil.net.

So I’d lose all my buildings, cursors, etc., and have to buy them all over again? Ditto with upgrades? I guess I’m missing the point of it.

With a soft reset, you lose your buildings and upgrades, but the Heavenly Chips make it really quick to get them all back, and then some. Basically, you keep on playing until you just can’t afford things any more, then you reset, and then you can get significantly further than the previous time before everything gets too expensive again.

I did an export save to maintain my personal game, then did a wipe save so that Celtling could start a game of her own. After that we could each load our latest export any time we sat down to play. Although once she got to a certain level we just defaulted to my mega-high cookie game and left it running. We take turns clicking GCs and buying AMCs anytime we happen to be passing by.

(1027 AMCs!!)

My understanding is the last achievement I’m missing requires 2000 heavenly chips. Without hardcore cheating this achievement appears to be just cycling through the same old routine over and over. So game over, man

The idea of converting large sections of the universe into cookies and raising an army of mutated grandmas is pretty funny. The flavor text is charming. They’d have a solid foundation if they ever turned this into something with a bit more meat, like a god-game, tower defense, or puzzle game or something where you can actually lose.

Well, there’s talk of a dungeon add-on, though I’m not sure how it would work.

What little I’ve seen of it almost sounds like the dungeon stuff has elements of a roguelike.

Dungeons - I found it unplayable.

Here’s a good youtube of it: - YouTube

Here’s a link to the beta if you want to try it: http://orteil.dashnet.org/cookieclicker/beta/

And my last save if you want to get straight to the dungeon: (you need 50 factories, I think)

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%3D%3D%21END%21

Just click on the icon in the factory window.

The trouble is, the dungeon only opens inside the window, so it’s tiny, and you can’t see what’s going on. If you increase the window enough to see it, the graphics pixellate and you can’t see the rest of the game.

Blech.

Question: the Round Chocolate British Tea Biscuits With Heart Motif says “Cookie Production Multiplier +15%”. However, the overall CPS didn’t increase by anywhere near 15% when I purchased it.

When it says “Cookie Production Multiplier”, how is the increase calculated?

Many items (including all of the novelty cookie varieties, plus some of the Bingo Center upgrades and the Heavenly Chips) add to a single overall multiplier. When you first start the game, your multiplier is 100%. Peanut butter cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, plain cookies, and sugar cookies are each +5%. Buy one of those, and you have a 105% multiplier. Buy all four, and you have a 120% multiplier. Well, by the time you get to the Round Chocolate British Tea Biscuits with Heart Motif, assuming you’ve bought all the cheaper cookie flavors, your multiplier is at least 230%. Buying the RCBTBwHM increases that to 245%, so your CPS will be about 1.07 times greater after the purchase than before it. It’s even less dramatic if you already have the bingo upgrades, or some heavenly chips.

Note that the bonus from kittens does not work this way: Each kitten is its own multiplier, that gets multiplied both by that overall multiplier and by other kittens.

So, has anyone played Candy Box?
