So I've found the most addicting game that exists on the internet. No, seriously

They just had a new update and you can play it through this cookie cicker game.

Ha! I read this whole thread over the last 30 hours or so (while hummin’ along with my own game of Cookie Clicker) wondering how no one’s mentioned Candy Box yet. I cleared Candy Box a few months ago when it was on the boards here, but with your mention of updates perhaps I’ll go back and check it out.

I’m diggin’ CC and all, but CB is a far more interesting game IMO for a lot of the reasons that the critics of CC in this thread mentioned. Both games are sort of dopamine rewards-inducing machines with their steady flows of exponentially growing treats, but with CC that’s ALL that it is. With CB there are quests and potions and surprises and no idea what’s coming next. (to say nothing of the graphics, which I think is a big part of CB’s charm).

All that being said, I can’t tear myself away from this screen for a minute out of fear of missing a golden cookie. (fortunately, I’m sick in bed with a cold, so the timing couldn’t be better).

Just loaded my old saved game but I don’t notice anything new or different or upgraded. Is the updated version integrated into the old game? What do you mean by “play it through this cookie clicker game”?

It’s got a Halloween Theme right now.

Candy Box or Cookie Clicker?

Ack!!! Zombie Grandmas, and space trilobites eating my cookie!!!

LOL!

Hmmm. Ok I reloaded and I’m missing three achievements and a seven upgrades. Are they related to popping wrinklers?

Yep, seems to be related to wrinkler squishing.

Hint: Do not pop wrinklers until they’ve already started eating your cookie.

Yeah, everything they eat, they give back, plus 10% interest. In fact, it’s actually even better than that: If you have multiple wrinklers, then they each give back all of the cookies eaten by all of them, so it’s to your advantage to let them accumulate (you can have a max of ten at once).

On the flip side, though, every wrinkler has a chance to pop a recipe for one of the Halloween cookies, and there are achievements for popping a bunch of them, so if you’re going for those, it might make sense to pop them as soon as you see them (when they’ve accumulated, it decreases the rate at which they appear).

That just sounds…so wrong.

This is turning out to be a great game for someone like me who doesn’t have a lot of time. I’ve left it on all week and am closing in on 100 time machines. Think I’ll grab some more of those cookie multipliers while I’m producing billions of cps- I do keep those after a reset, right?

I bet I’m not the only person who lets this thing run in the background all day…

You don’t keep the special cookies (peanut butter, snickerdoodles, etc.) after a reset, but if you’re closing in on 100 time machines, you’re probably already at the point where they’re all worthwhile, anyway.

When you do reset, you get a completely new multiplier, the heavenly chips, that do hold on through resets.

Somehow I got the idea the bonus cookies were something you could “take with you”. I’m looking forward to the ~275% heavenly bonus- I expect it will make buildings much more worth buying, which will give the multipliers much more to multiply.

In the long run though I think milk for the kittehs will turn out to be the best bonus of all.

Milk for the kitties is amazing, but it maxes out pretty quickly. Well, not completely, since new achievements are added occasionally, but slowly.

My most recent reset, I hit 100% of everything (including all Halloween cookies, Greases Cups, and Sextillion Fingers) in less than 36 hours. Right now, I’m just sticking with it until I can get my buildings balanced again (I had to way overinvest in cursors to get Sextillion Fingers), then I’ll mothball it again probably until the dungeons get to full release. Currently, I’m at over 666 billion CPS.

Sorry, I shoulda explained it better. It’s just a link that lets you play candy clicker seperatly.

You mean 36 hours straight, right?

You’re more than an order of magnitude ahead of me. I’m not seeing any wrinklers- I’m in the grandmacalypse, so do I need to collect more cookie upgrades, get a new version of Cookie Clicker or what?

Anyway, my gf caught me playing Cookie Clicker last night- I think she may disapprove of that even more than drinking. So I will have to wait until she leaves the house to restart, which means I’ll probably be drinking green tea and watching the Broncos game while putting together a new crew of grandmas. What have I become!?

Try - refresh your screen, that will make the new version load.

36 hours total, including idle time when I was sleeping and doing other things. If you’re not getting wrinklers, just refresh: They show up continually any time the grandmatriarchs are awake. And they make idle time much more profitable: About six times as profitable, for long idles (and even when it’s attended, the chance of feeding them an Elder Frenzy puts them in at least the same ballpark as going for Frenzy/Lucky). I recommend leaving them unappeased until you get all seven spooky cookies. And, of course, get more heavenly chips: I’m currently at 2000.

All right- I refreshed the screen. Same version number but now I get cookie effects when I click the cookie. The grandmas are currently appeased, so we’ll have to wait. I think that should do it.

ETA: I don’t yet have a single heavenly chip :frowning:
