So, about Candy Box: Do options ever go obsolete without disappearing: Some things let you spend resources without telling you what you’ll get for them-- Does there come a point where you’ve gotten all you can, but you can still spend the resources?
As an example (but I am not asking about this specifically, just in general), throwing candy on the ground. Does there come a point where you can still throw candy on the ground, but it doesn’t do anything for you?
I haven’t played the second Candy Box…but in the first, it allowed you to throw candy on the ground all you wanted, although it was apparent (later on) that all it did was waste them. The only thing that happens (in the first one) is the face changes whenever you throw some on the ground up to about 12 candies thrown on the ground. Then the face stays the same and nothing else ever happens (at least up to 1259 candies thrown on the ground, as high as I went). It was just a complete waste of candy after that (12) (and before that too, unless you count seeing a new smiley face is interesting).
Yes - you can waste candies throwing them on the ground, you can waste lollipops planting them, and you can waste chocolate bars throwing them in the well.
If you’re looking to maximize your chocolate bars:
Upgrade only your crown with jaspers, and get both types of gloves. You don’t need an upgraded spoon, monkey staff, or armor.
Huh, I would say that both crowns and the monkey staff are really useful, and the upgraded spoon is great, but that the red gloves are far outclassed, and the summoning spear is completely useless.
Certainly. But if you’re trying to maximize things, the obsidian crown isn’t needed, nor is the upgraded monkey staff (which is great for farming, no doubt).
casting obsidian wall, teleporting back, casting it again, teleporting back, x6 in total. Then you create stairs. Or you can make a whole bunch of cloning potions.
-played an initial round without really reading the thread or the wiki. Restarted at about .6 quadrillion cookies; no heavenly chips.
-The reset allowed for proceeding in a more rational manner, and also opened up the grandmapacalypse options. Managed to get up to ~25 billion cps, and maybe 50+ quadrillion total cookies. At reset it was worth 332 heavenly chips- a big difference compared to zero.
-Thought about obtaining the neverclick achievement but lost patience. Quickly achieved a high production- ~20 billion after 6 hours or so, and about 50 billion cps the next morning, up to 180 or so billion eventually, after about a week. Read some more of the thread and the wiki to gain a better appreciation for the math in the game.
-Latest restart yields 1072 heavenly cookies, and we gained the neverclick achievement along with a wrinkler squishing one and one other one. The neverclick was a little annoying- waiting around for golden cookies and repeatedly getting 7x production. 7x zero cookies! Eventually I got a x777 per click, clicked a dozen times, got up to 1 cps and it was all over. 1 million cookies in no time, and up to 360+ billion cps so far. Production is starting to hit a wall, but I am holding back to keep the grandmas merely ‘awakened’ instead of ‘angered’ in order to grab golden cookies while nursing a full set of wrinklers. The day or so before I am ready to reset I’ll go full into the grandmapocalypse to gain the grandma bonuses on idle for 12 or 24 hours. I’ve got my first quintillion cookies at last, 2 quintillion will give me 2000 heavenly chips, but considering how little time I have for a lot of attention to this I may get way more hc’s than that this round…
My progress is quite similar to yours, except I got lucky going for the neverclick achievement by getting 2 out of my first three golden cookies as “luckies” (13 cookies each), so I was able to get the True Neverclick shadow achievement at the same time. I too currently have just over 1,000 heavenly chips, but once I’ve got all the upgrades (you need 1,000 HCs to get the last one), I think I’m done with the game. I managed to get shadow achievement Speed Baking I, but getting II or III is too much like hard work, and I can’t be bothered to keep it running long enough to get the Black Cat shadow achievement (7,777 golden cookie clicks). I was all set to try and get the dungeon shadow achievements, until I discovered I would have to begin from scratch to load the dungeons (because the beta version, with the dungeons, won’t let you load a save from versions newer than itself). So I can’t be bothered with that.
Still, was a fun game, and I agree it’s a hugely addictive time-sink.
I got the Rocket Boots by Piling up octopodes. Run all the way to the right at first, and jump whenever one gets close. Octopus summons are better in general than tribesman summons, since they make boss fights like the nougat monster much easier.
Oh, and on the cyclops puzzle,
It’s possible to get 4 or 5 charges on every single tile in the puzzle. The heart tiles can recharge each other, which means that you can fully charge everything that you can get next to them. And if you move one of the hearts around so you have three hearts next to each other, you can build those up, too.
What got me for the longest time was the last squirrel puzzle. I was stumped, until I noticed something odd happening with the game.
Took me a couple of weeks off and on (i.e. allowing it to run up to Heavenly Chips over a few days before returning to it to sort it out) but I have final 100%'d this bastard game and am enjoying never having to look at it again. No dungeons for me. Sod that.
It is hardly a secret since I got the idea from the Wiki page, but whenever I get a cookie chain, I minimize the window down to about 6 golden cookie sizes in area. The cookies have to appear in that little window, so they are pretty hard to miss. ~6.7 quadrillion cookies isn’t a bad haul for a minute’s cookie clicking!
I’ve gotten to where I have, or soon will have, all of the upgrades. I’ve done two resets. What I can’t figure out are how to get my final four achievements, the first two and the last two on the bottom line. What the heck do I have to do to get those?
The last two are Neverclick (make 1,000,000 cookies with only 15 clicks) and Wholesome (max out your Heavenly Chip potential - have you been resetting before hitting 1,000,000,000,000 cookies baked? That’s the only way I can see having every upgrade and not getting that.)
The achievements will be arranged differently, on different screens, so I couldn’t say for sure what you’re missing, and thus what you need, but I suspect, since you’re missing Wholesome, it’s the higher resetting achievements, From Scratch and Nihilism, which require you to reset with at least 1 trillion and 1 quadrillion cookies, respectively.
Though, it occurs after some more thought that it shouldn’t be possible to get all the other achievements without getting FS and Nihilist, after a reset… How? would be missing, too, and I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to get all the Antimatter Condenser achievements without at least that much…
Which achievements are on either side of the ones you’re missing?
Thanks, I have Wholesome and Nihilism. I need Neverclick (how is that even possible?), Moistburster, Uncanny Clicker, Spooky Cookies, and am still looking for the 4th one.
Duh, I can’t count. Anyway, I now have Moistburster and Spooky Cookies. The cookieclicker wikia says you can get the uncanny clicker by:
I tried the Mouse Keys feature, and it did nothing. Any other suggestions?
Also how the heck can you get a million cookies with only 15 clicks? Just set up as much as you can with 15 clicks and let it run unattended for a week?
