Thanks for the link. I searched for “ascension” on that site and got nothing. Maybe I fat fingered, since there it is.
No problem. Note the “Kitten Angels” and 2 tiers of synergies (which unlocks new regular upgrades that will boost your production) are within the angel/demon tree. I thought the angel/demon upgrades were pretty useless since I basically leave it running 24/7. But when I was exploring the trees I saw how they branched off and bought up to that point out of curiosity (before the Wiki was updated), since the early levels are relatively cheap. They’re good to have, and also necessary for hitting 300 upgrades for the achievement.
Finally got Kitten specialists. Those damn kitten experts are still taunting me tho. Bastards. I am cruising along at 2ish sextillion Cps now. Might let it run for a day or two more before ascending again. Maybe shoot for 200 everything. Which is to say 200 Antimatter condensers and 200 prisms.
The key is ascending fairly often (as you have time for at least). With prestige and perma-upgrades it doesn’t take very long at all to rebuild and exceed previous CpS substantially. Unless you’re going for a certain achievement or upgrade, there’s no point in letting it run longer without ascending. V2 definitely ameliorated the diminishing returns effect with the retooled prestige system. I’m currently at:
Prestige level: 710,994
Legacy started: 1,436 hours ago with 28 ascensions
235/253 Achievements (92%) (4 are shadow achievements)
112 sextillion CpS, 362 octillion CBAT
Still a very long way away from 300 prisms and an undecillion cookies baked, naturally, but it at least feels like it will be slightly less ridiculous than it was before V2 to achieve everything.
Hmmmm, yeah. It seems you are only about 150 hours ahead of me, but you have twice as many ascensions. Maybe I’ll kick it up a notch here soon then…
In the new version, I’ve basically been picking a prestige upgrade each ascension, and then running until I have enough chips to buy that upgrade.
Well, aside from the fifty-something rapid-fire ascensions I did to puff up my count for the “ascend 100 times” achievement. Incidentally, for those, the key is to alternate short and “long” runs. On a long run, you go until you have just barely shy of 2 chips, and then you do a short run to finish off the last little bit. With Octillion Fingers, a kitten, and a prism-doubler in permanent slots, and Kitten Angels, it took me 7-10 minutes for each long run (depending on whether I got a frenzy or a lucky from the sole golden cookie), and about 3 minutes for each short run (more or less depending on how precisely I managed to time the long run).
Does this take into account any/all of the synergy upgrades?
It doesn’t, because I was thinking they were negligible. On thinking about it a bit more, though, that’s not quite true: Light Magic would be non-negligible, leading to the optimal build having a few more prisms and wizard towers, and Extra Physics Funding might also be just barely non-negligible. I’ll have to do the math on that, some time when I’m more awake.
The reason that most of them do not matter is that for most buildings (even grandmas with all of their upgrades), the 5,000,000 per cursor massively dwarfs what the building itself produces. This is why you should start by buying whatever’s cheapest, because they all give basically the same amount. Antimatter and prisms, though, give more, so you should keep on buying them even when they cost more.
This thread is what Nietzsche was talking about.
My comment here was delayed because the game was just too good. At least I found out that I can leave the cookies on another tab and they’ll continue.
Thanks, and I hate you. (jk)
Oh, I hate me too.
Woohoo! 200 prisms.
Hehe, i just got MY 200 Prisms like an hour ago too! High FivE!
Now please kill me.
It is aesthetically satisfying. After selling all of your cursors, popping all your wrinklers and cashing in all your buildings, in the end you are still left with a few cps multiplied by some ridiculous bonus, resulting in billions+ cps. Peanuts at this point, you are not going to get a single prestige level at this rate. It is like a neutron star after a supernova… sort of.
I think I’m going to make the run for Kitten Experts soon (821.226 octillion cost with discounts). Only a little over 1 nonillion CBAT and 278 sextillion CpS (with golden switch on) though. Wondering if I should try saving for it now or after a few more ascensions. Would be really nice having it as a perma-upgrade.
At that point, I think you want to wait for one or two more ascensions, depending on how much of that CBAT is from your current run.
And there was some talk earlier about getting the rapid-fire ascensions (for the 100 ascensions achievement) out of the way quickly, before new Heavenly Chips got too expensive. But I realized this morning that it doesn’t actually matter: The time from ascension to your first new HC is close to constant, and actually gets slightly quicker the more HC you already have. The cost of one new HC is directly proportional to your number of existing HC, and so is your production… except that your production actually scales as roughly n log(n), since with more production you can buy more buildings. On the other hand, the time for the first HC after ascension is mostly dominated by the time it takes to click to buy all the upgrades and buildings, and by the time waiting for the first golden cookie, which doesn’t scale at all with prestige.
Oh, and since nobody else has mentioned them, does anyone else get a kick out of the new personalized news headlines? I think my favorite is the one about how many cookies the average person makes in their lifetime.
Got the hard core achievement. Are there any other achievements that need the born again challenge level? Also finally bought a lot of the heavenly upgrades.
Made mistake of going for St. Valentines as first seasonal change. Oops, now the cookies don’t drop automatically, but are staged and vary in price. That last sextillion cookie is hanging there, my goal before I change to either Easter or Christmas season. Also, is there any reason to go to April Fool’s season?
Neverclick and the shadow achievement True Neverclick also both require Born Again, as do all of the Speed Baking shadow achievements.
As long as the last Valentine cookie (the silver Eternal Heart) shows up in your store, you’re safe to switch out of Valentine’s day and never return. It won’t disappear from the store. Or you could just switch to something else and then switch back later: Season-switching is cheap. It gets more expensive every time you do it, but by the time it’d be significant, you’re probably overdue for an ascension anyway.
The only reason to ever use Business Day (the April Fool’s one) is if you have the corresponding prestige upgrade. It makes Golden Cookies appear 5% more often, as opposed to the 2% more often from the other seasons’ upgrades. It’s not even the first season upgrade you should buy, though: The Valentine’s one is worth more just from the increase to heart cookies.
If you don’t have any of the seasonal prestige upgrades, then you want to be spending most of your time in Christmas. Once you have all of the random drops from Easter and Halloween, and all of the queued-in-order hearts from Valentine’s, there’s no further benefit to being in those seasons, but Christmas gives you the occasional reindeer, which are a nice boost (especially if you catch one during an Elder Frenzy, but always nice even with a normal Frenzy or without).
Thanks. I’m not interested in the shadow achievements, and I already got Neverclick. ![]()
