I’ve been watching SNL since around 1978, and I really think it’s day has come and gone at this point. Yeah, I’ve thought it before, (maybe around 1987) and the show has come back. But all things must end at some point.
I say move The Daily Show over to NBC on Sat night or even a Conan O’brien sketch show or something. It would be vastly more satisfying.
You people are all insane. You liked the Will Farrell - Cheri O’Teri years? They were horrid!! The show is ten times funnier without that hack Farrell.
Props to Tina for reviving Weekend Update. I thought they might cancel it after Colin Quinn was done with it.
Jimmy Fallon is definitely overrated, he needs to get back to his strength of playing more of the semi-straight man (like the guy hosting the web show) and doing impressions. He’s really good at those, just look at some of the Celebrity Jeapordy sketches he was in.
Tracy Morgan is hilarious. No member makes me laugh more than him. But while I love Brian Fellows, they should cut back before I get sick of it. Astronaut Jones was funny the first time, but that could quickly get old. I love it when Morgan does his Starr Jones impression. Good times.
Horatio Sanz. Nice role player. Pretty funny when used correctly. Like the Spiderman intro when Kirsten Dunst was on or the stoner roomie.
Maya Rudolph is not bad, I think the sketch where she was the school CCTV show host was amusing. Not usually laugh out loud funny, but amusing. And she can be funny as Donatella Versace.
I can’t remember the name of the other two females, but the one legged woman sketches were pretty funny sometimes.
Anyway, in short, this cast is ten times better than the Farrell years. I hated hated hated those. Now I actually watch the show when I’m home.
I was one of the person in another thread saying that Avril Lavigne sounded horrible. I had heard her accoustic on a radio station, then saw a 30 seconds thingy on one of her concert. She was horrible.
I was waiting with impatience to see her in SNL so I could show my husband how bad she sings… and… she wasn’t that bad… Geez… I am pissed…
The aquarium bit was very very bad.
I don’t hold it against a performer doing live comedy to lose it every once in a while. The material they’re doing is after all supposed to make people laugh. What irks me about it in regard to SNL is that waaay back in the day Lorne and the original group were openly disdainful of The Carol Burnett Show and were especially contemptuous of the idea of sketch performers cracking up on camera. I don’t watch SNL on a regular basis. The last time I watched it all the way through was when The Rock hosted and I probably wouldn’t have then if I hadn’t been visiting my brother.
