So, Shia Labeouf? (New Sia video)

Shia LaBuff seems like the love child of Noah Wyle and Russell Crowe. Anyone else?

I can understand why he’d want to affirm his own individuality.

There’s a bit about two-thirds of the way through where the guy has picked the girl up and she’s playing with the guy’s face. I’m a guy with a beard and a toddler, and when I pick up my toddler, she looks at me and plays with my face in almost exactly the same way, to the point that it gives me chills to watch that segment. When she turns and walks away from him through the walls of the cage, well, I think about a line I heard, that one day I’ll pick up my girl for the last time.

Kuddos to Shia for being brave enough to do it. +10 Yah art.

As for Shia’s performance, his dance definitely wasn’t up to the girl’s dance in quality, but his facial expressions are pretty intense during the piece–watch him at the end go from amusement to fear to desperation to anger to hopelessness.

I had exactly the same reaction to those exact scenes.

I don’t know what about the end would change that.

This reads like Milla isn’t cool, which would be wrong.

Heh. True. I didn’t mean it that way.

I’d be surprised if Luc Besson doesn’t cast her at some point.

As opposed to the earlier scenes, you have the odd shot in which just parts of her body (legs and arms) are shown with Shia’s face close and it could be read as him looking at her body instead of her face. Also he’s grasped her by the waist - he’s not really holding her that forcefully, but it’s a bit hard to see. She seems to be shaking, although again, the final shot shows that it’s more playful for her. My own reaction to that wasn’t as much ‘pedo’ as it was that it didn’t quite fit with the father-daughter narrative.

I wouldn’t say “playful” - “desperate” seems more accurate.

“Shia LaBeouf” is one my favorite exclamations-of-shock (like “oh my god!” or “holy shit!”).

“Would you look at that?!?”
“Shia LaBeouf! That’s the strangest thing I’ve ever seen!”

She’s doing it again. This time it’s a performance of “Chandalier,” with Maddie Ziegler and Kristin Wiig doing the dancing.

Can’t find a better link but here it is: Kristen Wiig dances to Sia’s Chandelier on the Grammys (VIDEO).

I would have expected to have gotten tired of it by now but I was still fairly transfixed. Wiig’s not as skillful in her dance as either Ziegler or LeBeouf were, but for one thing acting chops end up helping out here, and for another thing arguably her less practiced movements can just be thought of as part of the piece.

I had an unusually, perhaps inexplicably, strong emotional reaction at one point. Sia’s on to something, at least in my own case, and I am not quite sure what it is.

I think Kristen Wiig was…wearing…a…wig.
