So watcha doing with your tax rebate?

Woo hoo! Found money just arrived today in a $600 check from the US Government.

Which begs the question…what are you doing with your rebate? Socking it away for a rainy day? Paying bills? Throwing a bitchin’ kegger, complete with dancing girls?

Luckily, Mrs. rundogrun has spared me the necessity to devote any gray matter to this issue by prespending the money over the summer on recovering the couch (yawn!).

Anybody have a more exciting plan in store?

Sending it back to the IRS, unfortunately. I got audited for the 1999 tax year and it appears I screwed up some paperwork, so I owe 'em some back taxes. If it hadn’t been for that, I probably would have sent it to the Red Cross. Before the tragedy, I dunno, maybe would have put it toward a digital camera?

Spent mine ($300) on fixing (former)Roommate’s car. He’s helped me out in some dire straits, so I returned the favor.

Sigh. There went a new pair of glasses.

Two days before my car broke down :frowning:
This months middle paycheck plus the “Rebate” will just cover the repairs.

Bills.
It was supposed to go for a class hubby wanted to take, but three pairs of glasses and four dental visits pretty much blew that idea.
eh - it’s only money… <sigh>

I gave mine to the Nature Conservancy just to irritate some of the liberals I know.

Hey! I LIKE the Nature Conservancy! (Did you mean irritate us by going against our expectations for you?)

…me? The fund for the local firehouse, probably. Eleven of their guys are missing in the WTC.

Well, I like the Nature Conservancy because they aren’t always asking the gov’t to step in to save land like some of the other conservation groups. They just go ahead and buy what they feel should be preserved; take things into their owns hands. The more capitalistic approach appeals to me. That method bugs some of my liberal friends who seem to believe that conservation should be the gov’t’s domain. Same reason I buy Paul Newman food products.

Plus, they sent me a nifty 2002 calendar.

Ah. Gotcha. I could say the same thing, only I’d substitute “simple,” “practical,” or “rational” for “capitalistic.”

“See that beauteous, craggy, rock-girded slice of coastal Maine? Wanna make sure McDonald’s doesn’t build a hamburger stand on it? Why don’t we just BUY it?” Works for me!

I spent for airfare to Altanta for my DragonCon visit. 300 bucks well spent.

According to my financial advisor (Mrs. B.) dental bills.

What with this lucky lottery ticket, I can take that check and just blow it all on hats!

I haven’t spent it yet. Seriously. I got it in late July and I still haven’t deposited the thing. One of these days…

Already spent. I got it late July. Now my living room is all decked out with it’s very own PS2. There are a few glittering games adorning the sleek sides of the expensive box, and a handful of DVDs on the shelf beside it.

I spent mine on cookbooks.

My employer is matching contributions to the American Red Cross, so this’ll double what my wife and I were planning on giving to charity anyway.

Well I guess I know what we’re doing with our rebate. I just talked to my husband and he bought gift baskets from Harry and David for his client appreciation dinner tonight.

I got 300 dollars and spent 170.00 on a long overdue pair of steel toed work boots. Sent a 100.00 donation to the Naturist Action Committee. Spent the rest of it on gas to get to work.

Got ours a while ago…spent it on a 500-mile nookie run. Very good use of money from a Republican administration.

(Hey, they government schtupps me every chance it gets…I figure for once I’ll enjoy it.)

Paid for my divorce.

Hamadryad - just what is a “nookie run?” And aren’t you in Richmond, too? How 'bout including me in the next one?
