so what's YOUR beauty obsessions?

I have to keep my nails short as possible (I’m a rock-climber) so i always buff 'em. Can’t paint them, they’ll chip too fast, so that’s the only way I can beautify them.

I always make sure my legs are shaven, more than anything because I hate the prickly feeling when my legs rub together at night. That and I have darker leg hair than most gals.

When I had dreadlocks, I obsessivly kept them clean. I knew too many hippies who got fleas and bugs in thiers because they refused to wash their hair. A little extra effort was worth it i say.

Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise.

I hate the feel of dry skin - particularly on my hands and face.

I second the moisturizer. for some reason, my face is really dry year round. no other part of my body gets dry, just the face.

Due to hormone imbalances, I tend to grow an inordinate amount of facial hair–I’m constantly getting my face waxed or plucking (until I can afford to get it lasered).

I’m an avid hair-dyer. I started to grey pretty early (at 23), so I (or my SO’s mom–she’s an ex-hairstylist) dye my hair every 6 to 8 weeks. Three weeks ago, the SO’s mom dyed my hair dark copper red with strawberry blonde highlights.

Whenever I can, I also get pedicured. I work on my feet all day, so having my feet in good shape is important, anyways.

I am currently obsessed with Lipgloss and Lipstick! I even apply it before going to bed! It’s virtually impossible for me to leave a drug or dept store without a new lip item!

ALso, straightening my hair with my flat iron.
Moisturizing and exfoliating my face.
I’m also finding myself obsessivly applying perfume, even when I’m not going anywhere!

Also, have to have makeup on even when I’m not going anywhere. I’ll admit, I do have OCD so I’m sure that the OCD is fueling some of this as well as just plain vanity!

Eyebrows. I naturally have very heavy eyebrows, and now that they’re in a shape I think is flattering, I maintain them with a vengeance.

Also, my moustache. Just call me senor. I wax probably every couple-three days.

Obsessive shavers – have you tried the new Jergens lotion that slows down hair growth? I’ve used it for about two weeks and already, it seems to be working.

My obsession is my hair. I cut and color it myself (I’m a former hairdresser) and get a lot of compliments on it. It’s very short, and I have to do it about every 3 weeks.

(BTW, it’s basically a long brush cut, dyed bright red, with black streaks in the front. I’m a freak, I know…)

Hair! I’m a Manic Panic “dyehard.” I also like to hang feathers or beads in it, put it up, braid it, do all sorts of stuff to it.

Second would be nails–mine are very weak, so keeping them painted helps keep them from peeling and breaking–and third would be pedicures.

My eyebrows are a mess if left to their own devices. I get a wax every three weeks and pluck every day.

My feet are very prone to dry skin and calluses. I use one of those cheese-grater foot files and a pumice stone followed by lots of lotion at least once a day. I’m also a big fan of the spa pedicure.

I shave my legs and underarms every day. I do a mud-pack mask at least every other day.

This looks like a lot of stuff, but it doesn’t really take up as much time as you’d think.

I’m obsessed with my face. I’m sure I’m the only gal who doesn’t wear makeup because I’m too vain (why hide all that beauty!).

In another thread I posted about the joys of Cetaphil. Suffice it to say, I take very good care of my mug and hope that it will reward me by being supple and wrinkle-free when I’m 40 (what’s all that laughter I hear?).

Also, I refuse to have chipped nail polish on my toes. I do too much with my hands, so you’ll never catch polish on my fingernails. I do, however, make sure the nail polish on my toesies is fresh and perty.

I have (I am a waxer)–I like it.

Count me in on the Toes bandwagon. I’d sooner wear moon boots on a 110-degree day than show my toes in public if they’re not flawlessly polished.

Good to know I’m not the only compulsive eyebrow-plucker. I really don’t care much about other typical beautification rituals, but daily plucking is a must. If I don’t, I swear to god I’ll go back to looking like I have a furry bear caterpillar stapled to my forehead

Fluffy, I share your obsession with lipstick and lipgloss. Did you know that L’oreal has come out with Endless lipgloss? I have a couple of the Endless lipsticks and like them, so I got a couple of the Endless lipglosses. I got Enduringly Mauve and Boundless Burgundy.

I’m definitely a huge fan of lipstick - preferably dark red. Also, I’m getting more into manicures lately; I go once every month & 1/2 or so, which is a lot for me. I feel as though I’m becoming “high-maintenence”.

As for the hair; I was very into Manic Panic a few years back (my hair’s been green, blue, purple & magenta), but it was a pain in the ass. Now, I just occasionally dye my dark auburn hair a slighter brighter red.

Medstar, how are you liking the Endless lipgloss? I have not heard of these but I’m definetely going to pick one up this weekend if I can find them. As far as the lipglosses, are they drying or irritating? How’s the staying power? The only thing I dislike about gloss is that you have to reapply so often so this Endless gloss sounds cool.
Do they have a good color selection? Sorry for the interogation!

I have thick naturally curly hair. It’s become something of a chemistry experiment. Right now I’m using Kiehl’s Creme with Silk Groom - worth the extra $$. And occasionally L’Occitane Shea Butter Hair Mask.

I too tweeze my eyebrows - I don’t trust anyone else to touch 'em.

I use the Jergens Lotion - it’s a mirale serum - I’m convinced. I’m 3/4 Italian 1/4 Spanish and have uber dark leg hair. Now I can go every 3 days without shaving!

And like sandalfeet I keep my nails short - I’m a cellist so I know what you mean - a little buffing goes a long way!!!

Fluffy, I really like the Endless lipgloss. L’oreal calls it “Comfortable 8-hour Liquid Lipcolor”. It does feel like liquid cream lipstick in that it’s a satin finish, not glossy, and there’s a lot of pigment. It lasts longer than typical glosses and doesn’t feel weird like other long lasting lipsticks. I found mine at CVS, a drugstore, for about $8.99 each. Yes, they’re rather expensive, but I liked the lipsticks a lot. I gravitate towards the cool shades but overall, I like L’oreal’s color selection. The feel on my lips is creamy and the lipcolor would last a long time if you don’t eat anything greasy or rub your lips a lot. I didn’t notice any objectionable smell, either.
