Worked full day Saturday, most of yesterday, working a full day today. Got a major client audit coming up this week, so it’s all hands to the pump.
I wish I were working. I have a project that is dragging a bit, but I have to wait for the party of the second part to do their part before I can do the next part of my part. I have this sense of the stress that’s on the way, while trying not to stress about it in advance.
I normally work M-Th, so it just seems like a waste when I’ve got no plans. Guess I’ll work Friday this week.
I am the director of a summer camp and today is the first day of camp. You bet I’ve been working!
I’m self-employed and last week I had a computer issue that put me behind schedule and I missed a deadline on Friday. It was a flexible deadline and the client understands, but this batch of work must be ready for UPS first thing in the morning, because it’s my birthday tomorrow and I NEVER work on my birthday. So here I am.
It’s a beautiful day out, though, so for every hour of work I reward myself with about 20 minutes of yard work, which is bliss.
It was still a little damp but we had to cut the grass tonight since the dogs weren’t willing to go into it to go to the bathroom. First time ever they started using the corner of the patio. Poor delicate puppies.
Happy early b-day Scarlett! ![]()
I work retail. I don’t get paid time and a half. I get paid straight hours. Holidays suck, in my world. I HAVE to work on Memorial Day/Fourth of July/Labor Day Mondays.
Come the next life, however, …
We have fewer international clients this year than we usually do, so I was able to just take off work and not even think about “checking in”.
However, just like on the 4th of July, I spent the day dog-sitting for my own dog and my brother’s dog while everyone else was off doing picnic-y things. I don’t mind…the girls are very good at napping all day with me
I worked.
My company operates seven days a week, only closing four days a week at my facility (and our call center doesn’t even close then). Some folks in my department scheduled a day off, but this is one of the Mondays during the month that I’m slammed and doubly so coming at month end.
I’ll make up for it on Independence Day though.
“We will not go quietly into the night!”
Sorry for the late reply.
First of all, I am an undergraduate student at a liberal arts college with a very strong science program (for a liberal arts college). The group that I’m in deals with mesoscopic phenomena, waves in materials, and generally other quantum physics-y theoretical topics. I am specifically working on PT-symmetric quantum mechanics.
Oh, that, thanks.
what the hell was he talking about? Sounds like Geordie.![]()
Ah, apologies. I took a look at your profile after I posted; I thought you were a physicist.
No but I play one on TV.
Then you should have nodded wisely, and said something cryptic that may be complete nonsense or may hold deep wisdom.
Wait, I think I confused ‘physicist’ with ‘wise old master’.
