So who is Anakin's father?

Oh, so he’s Robert Jordan…

Good one, Happy Frood – I think Robert Jordan must have been his apprentice.

I do recall seeing on the cover of the first “Wheel of Time” book a quote of praise from Piers Anthony. I guess that was actually a warning label.

Pure genius.

No, at least Piers Anthony’s books can be read as individual items. They do have references to things from previous books, but they do tend to have a story that actually finishes in the same book. Unless he’s changed lately - I must admit not having read any for years.

I think both of these authors have a very clear idea as to when to finish a series - when the publishers won’t accept any more books for it.

Hellllooooooooo… the father clearly is Lando Calrissian. C’mon, he gets around, ya know what I mean?

Not quite. The virgin birth would make sense as it refers to Jesus Christ and thus maketh the Force be seen as some godlike power. In ANH (Ep. IV), Obi-Wan tells Luke, that the Force is an Energy, that surrounds us, that is within us, and so on, which is cool, as it is exactly what god-fans want to hear.

But apparently Kenobi didn’t pay heed to Qui-Gon all so well, who introduced the midichlorians, which act simply as a vessel for the powers and abilities of a Jedi. Now that is the problem: with the introduction of measurable and definable entities as the driving force behind the Force, the spirit of god floweth away.

So my point is (and I’m sure the smartest person in the entire galaxy will agree): We don’t know who the father is. George just screwed up.

He must have slipped her some COLT .45!

Just saw the new one.
Palpatine tells Anakin of a former apprentice of his named Darth Plagus, or something like that, who had discovered how to control the midichlorians and attain immortal life. Those dark-side secrets were the hook Palpatine used to attract Anakin, knowing the young Jedi believed Padme would die in childbirth.

Assuming Palpatine wasn’t lying, it could be that Anakin’s mother had somehow been a genetic-engineering experimental subject of Plagus, who perhaps was trying to explore his control of the midichlorians - “Gee, how many can I stuff in there? What would happen?”
Nitpick. The uberSith in Palpatine’s tale was not one of Darth Sidious’s apprentices; he preceded Sidious as the Sith Master. Palpatine could have been the apprentice who killed the guy while he was sleeping, though, but it is never explicitly stated whether Sidious and [Plagus] (or whatever his name was) were contemporaries.

No no, Professor Plum did it, in the library, with the candlestick.

The June 2, 2005 issue of Rolling Stone was in my mailbox today, and it contains an interview with George Lucas. He has this to say about Anakin’s parentage:

Also, when asked if Anakin’s fatherless-ness has Christ overtones, Lucas says, “Oh, it’s not just Christ. Christ is one of a long, long, long, line of heroes who don’t have fathers. There’s a long tradition of mythological heroes.”

Hope this is helpful.

If you know your sci-fi you know Anikin’s father is Dr McCoy.

The time travel episode… 'memmer? …The one where they give him the nickname “Bones”

Just like the verb, baby. Just like the verb!

If anyone saw the movies they would know Anakin’s father was:

A block of wood. Maybe oak.

Or maybe that was Haydyn’s.
