So who should play Catwoman?

The correct answer is Jennifer Garner. It is always Jennifer Garner.

I’d second that. She was impressive in Kingdom of Heaven, I thought.

There was an article I found on Fark which suggested that going the traditional route for Catwoman who end up being far too hammy in Chris Nolan’s universe. So it was proposed that they should try to do something totally freaky and unexpected, such as casting Tilda Swinton in the role and taking it in a really weird direction because she is visually striking and her “sexy” could only be really unnerving.

I’m not sure I agree with Tilda Swinton, but I do agree that something a lot less conventional would be far, far more interesting than most of the “hot babes” mentioned in the thread so far.

For example, the woman who played the original Nikita in Besson’s La Femme Nikita, started out looking like some dirty, nasty, Amy Winehouse-like druggie-hag, but then became totally hot in a really dangerous way. IMHO, finding someone who has “the wrong look” and then making her hot via some kind of dangerous, vicious charisma would be far more compelling than your standard post-90210 buxom hottie.

ETA: Anne Parillaud (Nikita) is in fact really hot, but the movie made her look terrible at the start.

“Who played the title character in Elektra, the second worst comic book to movie adaptation (right after Catwoman)?”

So what? She didn’t write the script, direct the movie or edit the film.

I don’t think they need to reinvent every character. Batman himself is already rather implausible and they didn’t change him at all. If they do they could end up committing the same mistake as the last Catwoman movie, creating a character who had nothing similar to what people related to the name.

I’m going to nominate Kate Beckinsale. She a good actress, looks good in tight leather, and is freakin’ hawt.

I don’t think you need to reinvent the character, but rather aim for someone less conventional to be the criminal vamp. Most choices here seem to be looking for the sexpot who could be a dangerous criminal, rather than the dangerous criminal that you can’t help but want to f–k.

It’s a very subtle difference. I’d rather Catwoman be a credible villain first and foremost, the kind that the more you hear her talk and watch her in action, the hotter she seems.
