So will I ever see the sun this winter? (AKA Lots of Games coming out!)

Interesting articleon whether nor not games are even getting finished these days and the rise of multiplayer. I thought it might spark some discussion, although, so long as they keep making robust multiplayer offerings (not usually), I’ll be happy.

I’m also waiting excitedly for Saints Row 3…

My mass-market gaming career (ha, don’t I wish?) will end with the purchase of Skyrim, Guild Wars 2, and Diablo 3. The latter two have no release dates yet but are sounding awfully close to release. (Of course, for D3, “close” means “sometime this decade.”)

Once those 3 are released and played through a few hundred times, I will probably just get a smart phone and play Angry Birds XI like the rest of you young folks.

Games I will buy and play, in no particular order.

  • Might & Magic: Heroes 6
  • Assassin’s Creed: Revelations
  • Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution
  • Battlefield 3
  • Modern Warfare 3
  • Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
  • Warhammer: Space Marine
  • Gears of War 3
  • Rage
  • Dark Souls
  • Stronghold 3
  • Batman: Arkham City
  • Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception
    Games I might buy.
  • Tropico 4
  • Dead Island
  • MDK2 HD
  • MGS HD Collection
  • Saints Row The Third
  • Max Payne 3

I will never see the sun again. *

I forgot about Tropico 4. Good call.

I’m also looking forward to Minecraft on the 360 so I don’t have to play it on the PC again.

Isn’t Diablo III supposedly coming out this year? I’m pretty sure I’ll get that one when it does. There is a new DLC coming out for Fallout New Vegas and one for Shogun II as well that I’ll be getting and dumping some time into. If the Star Wars MMO comes out this year I’ll be getting that too (I haven’t pre-ordered yet…keep forgetting and lost the link so will have to look that up when I get home this weekend). Stronghold 3 is also on my list, as is the new Warhammer FPS and Elder Scrolls game. Heroes of Might and Magic will probably be one I get as well, though still playing through the various DLCs I got off Steam for V right now. That will probably take me through to next year though…or at least until the big Christmas Steam blowout sale, where I am hoping Dragon Age 2 is selling for something like $19.95, so I can pick that up along with the DLCs for it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Diablo III is like Star Wars: The Old Republic. The devs want to bring it out this year, but they’re not making any promises. And when they inevitably do get delayed, they can say “we never promised it was coming out in 2011.”

Yeah, Blizzard in particular always says that games will ship ‘when they are ready’. I thought I remembered reading an article saying that the game was pretty much done though…they were just doing the final stuff on balance issues and trying to work out the bugs with their online services they are planning. No idea where the Star Wars game is…just remembered seeing pre-orders being taken and some video footage on some of the classes.

Well, I bought the Eric Cartman ploy hook, line, and sinker(we are only going to let a few pre-orders in at the beginning)http://ingame.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/08/22/7441863-cant-wait-for-star-wars-the-old-republic-better-move-jedi-fast, and pre-ordered it today.

I should get 60 bucks of fun out of it even if it is as disappointing as Galaxies.

Haven’t seen this one mentioned yet, but I’m pretty excited about it. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. It’s distributed by EA, but it’s from 38 Studios/Big Huge Games. Here’s a video of their gameplay demo at Gamescom. ETA: Due Feb. 7th in the US, Feb 10th in Europe.

Me, personally, are waiting for (in order of estimated release date)

Heroes of Might and Magic 6 (pending reviews, though)
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon
War in the North (pending reviews)
Trine 2
Skyrim
Mass Effect 3

You don’t need to rely on reviews - there’s a demo out. I wasn’t very impressed since it looked like reskinned HoMM5 to me, but YMMV. I was kind of relieved it didn’t seem very good since I don’t want to give any money to Ubisoft if I can avoid it. Don’t want to support their DRM atrocities.

I already invested in a new supply of vitamin d supplements.

Plan on becoming a hermit over the winter months, might even resort to cannibalism once Skyrim hits Steam.

I just wish the wife had a little more meat on her.

Oh man…boner status: elevated!

You’re right…I download the demo and was under-whelmed. HoMM has always been “lite” and now it is so clunky. I spent more than two hours on the tutorial mission, It isn’t the map is big, it’s just that the animation are soooooo sloooowwww. The units walk slowly, they attack slowly (with their fanciful animations)…I’m sure there’s an option to modify battle speed though.
