I wouldn’t wish Mia Michaels’ choreography on someone for an entire year either. Sorry, don’t get “lyrical dance.” It’s the dance equivalent of Yoko Ono’s music, IMO. It’s supposed to be spiritual and creative just seems bizarre to moi.
I’d vote for Travis but I think Heidi will win. As I explained before, I think the teen vote will be split between Travis and Benji and that will hurt the chances of either men to win.

My neighbors probably think we’re watching some kind of sporting event–because normal people don’t cheer like that for regular tv.
I know I didn’t post it here (yeah yeah), but I couldn’t imagine anyone other than Benji as the winner. He’s just so darn likeable, and I did NOT want to like him at first.
I am glad I never have to hear Celine Dion or whatever soulless woman it was suck the life out of “Calling You” anymore (search for “Jevetta Steele” on YouTube for comparison; I’d link direct but last moment of video is NSFW).
Poor Donyelle. I can’t believe she had to dance in that impossibly unflattering yellow monstrosity twice. She is such a pretty woman, and the costumers kept making her look awful again and again.
I hope they hire new camera people/editors/whatever you call them next year. So many times I felt like I was missing out on the flow of the dances with the crazy jumping from camera to camera. Just because you have a half-dozen cameras doesn’t mean you have to show them all.
Boy, this sounds like such a negative post! But on a more positive note, I really like this show where we get to see the best of the dances, and all the judges say positive things. I was impressed that, unlike AI, the final did not obsess too much on showing the horrid dancers in auditions.
I totally agree. I know it’s hard to shoot dance, but this was ridiculous. I felt there was so much that we missed because of bad framing and direction.
And, while I can’t stand Celine Dion either, a year-long gig is very valuable for a young dancer. Benji also gets $100,000 and a “hybrid SUV.”
I’m happy with the results. Could have been done in an hour. Heck, could have been done in 10 minutes. . . but it’s all about selling advertising, remember! And I was happy to see the Zombie dance again. A true season highlight.
I liked that format too. And the “best of” were well-picked all around, IMO.

I wonder if he can turn that down. Lyrical really isn’t something Benji want’s anything to do with. Hell, he’ll have to take sleeping pills to get through the show. Travis, now Travis would probably be okay with it, but I really don’t think Benju is going to make it through a year of lyrical dancing for two hours each night.

I just added it to the string of hideous dresses she’s worn. I stopped noticing weeks ago.

Benji’s a great dancer, but I find him excessively annoying. He has *too much * personality. Still, I can’t imagine that he’d be contractually obligated to stay with the Celine show for the whole year- he’ll probably get a call about a better gig and he’ll be outta there.
I had the ending spoiled for me by accident, before the broadcast even started here on the west coast, Wikipedia already had in Benji’s page that he had won.
Ah well, it was still an entertaining evening.
Wasn’t anyone else annoyed that they did somewhere like 1 hour and 55 minutes leading up to the winner, then gave him a few seconds to say, “Thank you” and off goes the show? It just seemed like since BENJI won, he should have gotten at least some “alone time” in the spotlight after the announcement! More than the 30 or so seconds it seemed to me he got, that is.
I mean he won the whole thing, but didn’t seem to get anything, on the show, for it. Post-show he gets the Deion gig, car, and money or whatever, but shouldn’t they have at least presented him with some kind of big check, some car keys, or something? A tiara? Something! He won, after all… And as a fan of his, I would have liked to see him get that time.

Then when you hear that Donyelle solos next, you just KNOW that it’s Travis & Benji. And then you’re pretty sure it’s Benji. No real suspense builder with that process. And we aren’t even told what the order of the votes is. Heidi or Donyelle could have been 2nd in votes and they just arranged it to do Travis/Benji for show. Who the heck knows? I want to know actual numbers next season. At least towards the end.
I also enjoyed the best-ofs, but wish they traded Mia’s bench for the AfroPop.
Now that I remember all the people on the show, I think we needed to get Aleksandra out of there quicker. I can’t believe she made it as far as she did.

That bugged me too. The ending was just so abrupt. It’s like ok…tense moment…is it Travis or Benji?? Long pause…dramatic lights…The winner is Benji, Goodnight!
