So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) Spring/Summer 2010

The results show has aired on the East coast.

I suspected that was what was going to happen, when they didn’t announce at the top of the show what the verdict was on Alex’s injury. Very, very sorry to see him go – hope he’s back next season.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

But I was quite touched at the end of tonights show. Usually the dancers frolic and mug for the cameras, insread of huddling around the one leaving, giving a big old group hug.

Anyone have a tissue?

Despite my general distaste for her, I have to give big ups to Mia for apologizing to Adechike for being unnecessarily harsh on him the night before. She was, and she owned up. Atta girl.

My assumption is that her fellow judges, plus possibly Cat, gave her hell once the cameras stopped rolling last night.

That said, she does deserve credit for publicly apologizing for one of the nastiest personal attacks I’ve ever seen from a judge in one of these shows.

I hate the … congratulatory smile she had on her face after the apology: see what a wonderful person I am? Now you had to admire me and like me because I am a superior being.

And, just like last time, she claimed it was all tough love, not that she just let her inner bitch escape.

Bah.

I was totally crying for/with Alex last night, of course. :frowning:

I tend to fast-forward through the results shows, watching only the opening group number and then the actual results (and maybe one of the guest numbers, if they look interesting … I was underwhelmed by the musical cast, btw), so I missed Mia’s apology! I’ll have to un-delete the recording from TiVo later and watch it again!

Boy, last night’s group number didn’t help this much! Billy in a dress! The others with fuzzy cotton wings or tufts! Ugh–really horrible. If that’s what heaven’s going to be like, I’ll pass.

That’s what I came in here to say. I may just be letting my hate for Mia color my eyes (I’ll admit, she does some good work but man, she is a huge bitch) it seemed like a very insincere apology and, like you said, she said to him what she said to Brandon a couple of seasons ago: I’m just harsh to you because I see how great you can be and it’s tough love. I can’t stand her.

I like how Cat called the judges over their unfair judging (But last week you told Jose…) and Mia about how no one knows what the hell she’s talking about. I think she told one person to be “cottony” or something shit and the contestants just nodded. Cat went, “What does that mean?”

I really hope Cat’s a nice person in real life like I choose to believe she is.

Mia is still making me miss Mary…and even wishing for a small dose of Li’l C so that I won’t have to listen to her for a week.

Clearly we need a new female judge for that middle chair – any suggestions? (And, no, bringing Mary back isn’t an option.)

Yep, she went off on Brandon too, another black man. Is this an ugly trend?

And another attack by her on Adechike tonight. Not pretty.

What I came in to say was, Billy was not well served by that spliced up mess of a song. Or by Allison’s skirt falling apart.

Judges seemed to like it though.

I thought Billy did just fine. He is finally starting to connect with his partner and the audience.

A lot of good dancing tonight by pretty much everyone. It’s going to be hard to see anyone go. As much as I love Jose, he is honestly not as strong as the other dancers, though he’s great at his B-boy stuff.

I am going to be pissed beyond all measure if Robert ends up in bottom 3 after that amazing performance. I was so moved I didn’t even care they choreographed it to Coldplay.

And the look on Kent’s face when Robert ratted out his crush on Lauren – so cute.

When they introduced the Tahitian dance and focused on Lauren shaking her hips, apperently I said, “I’m going to like this dance” out loud and got in trouble.

What an interesting show.

I thought Billy did a great job and he’s been growing on me. However, I think with Robert getting Travis strong contemporary pice, Billy may find himself in the bottom three.

I thought Adechike may wind up there too. I didn’t think his salsa was strong and relied to heavily on tricks than it did dancing. He wasn’t “enough of a man”…and seemed kinda hunched over in some spots to me.

I think Jose deserves to be in the bottom three. He could have done things to really make the Broadway routine sing, but he didn’t have the knowledge or experience to make it work. I am afraid he’s got such a strong voting fanbase that might save him though…

Loving Kent this week. Still.

Lauren was great.

Did not like Robert in the disco (he’s not enough of a man!*) He didn’t carry himself right for me. But, I do think Travis’ routine will carry him to safety.

  • From the multi-cultural dance show Nigel produced on NBC - the Argentinian judge repeatedly used this phrase as an excuse to hand out low scores. It gets repeated in our house in a somewhat tongue-in-cheek manner when dancers are paired up to do partner pieces that call for a very strong male persona and fall short.

I felt sorry for Lauren – I think that tahitian dance was the most stationary thing they’ve done.

Really, at least 90% of her ‘steps’ consisted of shaking her hips with her feet planted. Face front, shake, shake, shake, face left, shake, shake, shake, …

She also was stuck with her back to the audience a lot of the time. You’d have thought that it was Mark who was supposed to be showcased.

The first dance routine for Jose was so lacking in almost anything. I really think the choreography was routine and pointless. Not that I thinkJose can dance, but that had to have been one of the most pedestrian, weak choreography jobs I have ever seen on the show.

I agree. I really don’t notice technique so I don’t think Jose’s lack of such is what made the piece so boring. The choreography was just awefule. There was nothing to it. I haven’t seen such bad choreography since Phillip’s Russian dance (which I’ve noticed hasn’t been on the show since then).

I freely admit that as the mother of a developmentally disabled twelve year old, I have a thin skin about some things. Because of that I really, REALLY didn’t like Mia’s little “clapping” motion she made last night after mentioning she was “having a stupid night”. It was mocking and mean and completely uncalled for.

Can someone post who got eliminated last night? I fell asleep with 10 minutes to go and can’t seem to find the results yet this morning.
