A couple of you may remember that I had a miscarriage last July (my second).
I just wanted to let you all know that I’m expecting again!!
I’m already pretty well into it (23 weeks tomorrow), but with my history and all, I waited to let anyone know.
Everything’s going swimmingly! No morning sickness, hardly any fatigue, my skin’s nice and clear! My doctor said yesterday that everything was textbook. He, nevertheless, ordered a fetal echocardiogram that checks the baby’s heart-health. Because of my history, and the fact that I have lupus, he’s covering all the bases - good man.
We don’t know the sex yet, but we’re going to find out.
Just wanted to let you all know!
:off to read the SDMB pregnancy redux thread in IMHO:
No, it’s not. The risk of miscarriage is greater, as is the risk for intrauterine growth restriction and pre-eclampsia. Also, as far as my health is concerned, there’s a risk of flare-up because of the pregnancy.
The good news is that I haven’t had a flare for several years and am in good health right now. Also, I have normally low blood pressure, which is a good starting point for the pre-eclampsia risk. My doctor has me taking a low-dose aspirin every day to help with the “lupus anticoagulant”.
Basically, everything looks good but I’m getting extra-careful care, which I really like.
