Some Very Happy News

A couple of you may remember that I had a miscarriage last July (my second).
I just wanted to let you all know that I’m expecting again!!
I’m already pretty well into it (23 weeks tomorrow), but with my history and all, I waited to let anyone know.
Everything’s going swimmingly! No morning sickness, hardly any fatigue, my skin’s nice and clear! My doctor said yesterday that everything was textbook. He, nevertheless, ordered a fetal echocardiogram that checks the baby’s heart-health. Because of my history, and the fact that I have lupus, he’s covering all the bases - good man.
We don’t know the sex yet, but we’re going to find out.

Just wanted to let you all know!

:off to read the SDMB pregnancy redux thread in IMHO:

Congrats on the youngin’!
I’m sure everything will turn out just great!

Good for you! Good luck to both of you!

Congrats, C3! Here’s to a healthy pregnancy and an easy delivery!

Do you have any names in mind yet?

We’re thinking William James or Olivia Joy. Maybe Madeleine Olivia. It changes almost daily, though.

How wonderful!! I know I don’t need to say this, but I will anyway - Take care of yourself and have a happy healthy baby!!

Thanks everyone!

All beautiful names – I especially like the name Olivia.

Re: William James – are either of you psychologists by any chance?

The best of all possible wishes to your and yours. Here’s hoping for a happy and healthy young’un.

No, James is a family name on my husband’s side and we just like William. What’s the connection? I hope it’s someone cool!

Oooo, how about Olivia Rose? It’s one of my favorites, and of course, that should be tantamount to your decision

Best wishes to you and your husband. God willing, all will be well.

Great news, and best wishes for a perfect pregnancy.

By the way…could you answer something for me? Is lupus transmissable to your baby while in utero?

Here’s wishing a healthy pregnancy to you

No, it’s not. The risk of miscarriage is greater, as is the risk for intrauterine growth restriction and pre-eclampsia. Also, as far as my health is concerned, there’s a risk of flare-up because of the pregnancy.
The good news is that I haven’t had a flare for several years and am in good health right now. Also, I have normally low blood pressure, which is a good starting point for the pre-eclampsia risk. My doctor has me taking a low-dose aspirin every day to help with the “lupus anticoagulant”.
Basically, everything looks good but I’m getting extra-careful care, which I really like.

That is very happy news! Congratulations, C3!

O.J.? :dubious:

Awesome! Let me add my congratulations.

For what it’s worth, I like Madeleine.

Congratulations! I like the name Madeleine too.

James was an early American psychologist who taught at Harvard. He’s credited with writing the first psychology textbook and having the first laboratory devoted to psychology.

What wonderful news! Hugs and belly pats to you!
