Sometimes I love training people.

Tonight I got to impart some interesting words of encouragement:

“Well, a good OP only needs help the first time”

(In the context of this thread OP means :Operator/Operative rather than the usual SDMB’s Original Post/Original Poster)

I could have elaborated and said the kind of help this OP needed was minimal and I haven’t previously had such an easy time helping a trainee with a difficult task. I’ll probably say something along those lines next time I meet the OP in question.)

Anyway, those were after I’d complemented the OP for doing well and the OP subsequently pointing out that they’d done well only with my help.

If I am to blow my own trumpet: I like to think the help I give tends to be good. If, on the other hand, I am to be modest then it is only because the people I am most used to giving help to tend to require good help and therefore I have been forced to evolve my help-giving skills.

Having said that. I want to detract from the quality of the help I gave tonight and give praise to the person I gave it to for being able to require far less of it than the others.
