Songs to wake up to.

Light & Day/Reach For The Sun by the Polyphonic Spree

Daydream Believer by the Monkees. Nice and upbeat without being annoying, plus it starts with a verse about waking up.

And dammit, I wanted to be the first one with the Groundhogs Day reference!

Ohh, another one – Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony (#6) would be very nice to wake up to – starts very soothingly, but builds up to a rousing climax to help get you out of bed. And it’ll put you in a good mood to start the day.

If you like some unique rap, I suggest Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s “First of the Month.”

Wake up, Wake up, Wake up, it’s the first of the month…

If you don’t like hip hop that’s a little old school, you will probably think it sucks. Check out a preview. It’s about dope dealers being particularly swamped at work when the government checks come in…

“Good Morning, Starshine” from Hair?

“Good Day Sunshine” – Beatles

“Here Comes the Sun” – Beatles

“Wake Up, Little Susie” – Everly Brothers

“Morning Has Broken” – Cat Stevens

The first three tracks from Days of Future Passed – Moody Blues

Music at Work by the Tragically Hip. The thumping base helps get me going in the AM. Of course, I have a playlist that gets me through wakeup, shave and shower. It includes the Hip, R.E.M, and U2.

Up! by Shania Twain

Oh I can’t resist. (These are shared with her permission)
“'Til The Dawn Breaks”

“I’m Not Awake I’m Not Asleep”

“Waking Up”

Whenever I have seen this song quoted (usually by me) it has been in a thread titled something like The absolutely worst vomit inducing songs ever written.

I will recommend Nick Cave’s Breathless off his last double album. It cleverly begins with a cacophony of flutes that replicates a tree full of birds at day break.

Waking up by Elastica

Take A Giant Step— The Monkees if you had a bad day.

“Come with me, leave yesterday behind… and take a giant step outside your mind.”

A song that the lovely and talented Zyada sent me. Woke Up Laughing by Robert Palmer.

Go with “Mountain Jam”. Gives new meaning to the snooze bar.

“Wake Me Gently” by Alice Cooper
“Black Juju” by Alice Cooper - the part where he screams “Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!”

How about these, sleepyhead?

Sunshine Superman - Donovan

Let The Sunshine In - Frenté

Play in The Sunshine - Prince

For something much stronger:

Wake Up - Rage Against The Machine

Skating Away (on the thin ice of a new day) - Jethro Tull

Another One Bites the Dust - Queen

Rage Against the Machine, Wake Up
The Bobby Hughes Experience, Seasons (it has this sweet funky groove with a sexy female voice saying “hey, Wake up” as the only vocal parts of the song)

**“Time” **- Pink Floyd

In keeping with some of the other Beatles suggestions, I’m thinking that “I’m So Tired” off the White album would be a poor choice. Actually, after giving that more thought, that would be like torture waking up to that song.
