“Brandy (You’re A Fine Girl)” by Looking Glass. This one will have them running out in droves, screaming in horror, their hands covering their ears. I personally kinda like it, but most people … don’t.

“Captain of Her Heart” by Double. The piano interlude is especially effective. They won’t be back.
And I dunno what kind of parties SOME of us go to, but “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” isn’t a party tune.
Not yet mentioned: Rod Stewart’s “Rhythm of My Heart” which has always sounded like a sea shanty to me. It’s the one with the lyrics: The rhythm of my heart is beating like a drum. With the words “I love you” rolling off my tongue. No never will I roam for I know my place is home. Where the ocean meets the sky I’ll be sailing."
Don’t laugh, but there are a couple good songs on the Spongebob Squarepants Movie sountrack. One by The Flaming Lips, and one by Ween. I forget their names, but they are both great.

"Orinoco Flow(Sail Away)," by Enya. About a fourth of the way down from the Amazon page, there are options to play a short clip of this. BEAUTIFUL song!
Also, don’t know where to find this, but if you can find the Hawaiian song, “When the humuhumunukunukuapua’a goes swimming by,” I thin it would be favorably received, also.
