That VengaBoys song they used to play in the Six Flags ads:
Since 1968 I’ve never stopped enjoying In A Gadda Da Vida (but only once every year or two).
Songs you don’t want to admit you enjoy
With that thread topic, isn’t it thread shitting to post the name of a song?
Hey, I can not want to admit I enjoy it, but do so anyway, protected by a flimsy wall of internet illusion of anonymity. I wouldn’t admit this to some of the people I know IRL.
Wow, cool, that’s quite the throwback to the 70s!
It’s very catchy and has interesting melody. Maybe you’ve found the next Bierber. Young Alec just needs to hit puberty.
My darkest secret? I really like The Captain and Tennille’s “Muskrat Love.” It just makes me smile when I sing along. Also, I too love the harmonies in “Afternoon Delight.” There are more, but I’ve embarrassed myself enough for one post.
My taste in music is pretty eclectic: I know most of the songs mentioned so far, and I like them all!
My contribution is Miley Cyrus’s “Party in the U.S.A.”: ridiculously catchy, and fun to sing along with…but only when I’m alone.
One of my favorites! Did you know it was written by Mike Nesmith of The Monkees?
His “Wildwood Weed” is even better.
I did know that. I also looked up who else has covered it, and one of my fave musicians, Paul Westerberg, is on that list. So I listened to it. It’s not good. He might have been intoxicated.
I file most of these as novelty songs. I tell myself they were intended as satire.
“Afternoon Delight”
“Muskrat Love”
“Horse With No Name”
“Red Solo Cup”
I have no excuse for the theme song from Grizzly Adams.
Disco Duck.

“How Do You Do,” by Mouth and MacNeal is an insipid song that never fails to make me smile.
Thanks for the earworm…

Since 1968 I’ve never stopped enjoying In A Gadda Da Vida (but only once every year or two).
Back in high school I was at a dance when the band played it. They decided to play the entire song, and they hadn’t even gotten to the midpoint when everyone just walked off the dance floor. And still the band played on.
With some songs the AM radio version actually WAS better.

I don’t feel guilty about loving the worst cheez…
I’m fascinated by how much I hated all that ‘cheez’. And how, almost a half-century later, I’ve gotta turn it up if it comes on the radio … so I can bask in the nostalgia.
"Ahhh, I remember summer stretching on forever, having minimal responsibilities… and piling in Ed’s MGB-GT and cruising to the DD on D (“Dunkin Donuts on Dempster”) and suddenly “Brandy” comes up on the radio.
God, how we hated Brandy, and all the sailors who were hitting on her, and the entire song, and all Top 40 “Wussy Rock”…
… even as we were belting it out like maniacs.

Since 1968 I’ve never stopped enjoying In A Gadda Da Vida (but only once every year or two).
Try once a night all summer long.
I worked on the dish crew at a Scout camp during middle school, and the five kitchen workers shared a cabin. One guy brought a portable record player and ONE album… guess which one. But I thought it was pretty cool to fall asleep to every night.
eta: I wonder if I’d go right to sleep if I played that…? Hmmm… would some residual conditioning persist 57 years later?
“A Real Good Time,” is even better still. His first album is one finely crafted tune after another. Ticks all the boxes.
Well, I loved the Monkees.
If that’s cheesy I’ll live with myself, somehow.
The song that makes everyone sing in this house is(spoilered so ya’ll don’t kill me)…
Dan’l Boone was a man, a big man…yada yada
Look only if you want the earworm.
Rick James’s Superfreak.
Sir Mix-a-Lot’s Baby Got Back. You have to watch this version.
Poison’s Something to Believe in. Actually, I’m not afraid to admit I like this.
Escape - aka The Piña Colada song
It feels good to have that off my my chest😟
