Rihanna - Umbrella
There were some really good dance routines online back when the song was poplar.
I used to get an umbrella out and dance in my living room.
Not embarrassed!
Count me in too, guys. I’m a fan.
Although I was just a little bit too young to be interested in the girls just yet. For me that came with Boston’s first album. My first kissing experience. That was heavenly.
And thank you for that delightful memory, PJ (now PS) from WH CT.
That’s how I feel about Welcome to Saint Tropez.
Vapid lyrics, a simplistic melody, but once that chorus starts at 1:05 I’m singing along like an idiot (and loving it…)
I don’t want to admit the songs I don’t want to admit I enjoy. The clue is in the OP title.
Big Balls by AC/DC. The most enthusiastically juvenile song ever, it makes my inner 12 year old snicker endlessly.
I’ll add Dolly Parton’s Tits by McLean & McLean.
I’ll go with this and also Walkin’ On The Sun by Smash Mouth. I might as well throw in All Star also.
The people I usually hang out with are about my age and we are mostly fans of rock from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Given a choice, we’ll be listening to Steely Dan, Boston, The Cars, Allman Brothers, classic 60s rock, etc.
But every so often I have to break into a few verse of “Brokenheartsville,” “That Ain’t My Truck,” or “Straight Tequila Night.” My friends inevitably look at me in horror, usually stating, “It’s not so bad that you like that 90s country, but it’s creepy that you know all the lyrics.”
Wow.
I can’t even look at you right now.
Nickelback’s “I Wanna Be a Rock Star”
I don’t get the hate. They’re just as genuine as any other rock band.
I’m not a Country music fan, but I can appreciate old-school Country: Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, etc. I hated Garth Brooks because he was not only Country, he seemed like the personification of fake 90s glam-Country. But…
…gotta admit “Friends in Low Places” is a fun sing-along.
How can you say they’re genuine when they’re admitting in the title of that very song that they’re wannabes?
I had to look up the dates of the those songs releases, because I think of the first as a different era than the other two - which says more about my age than anything else, I suppose. Not embarrassed to say I like a lot of 90s country - though I guess I should be, since it was my parents’ music. But it was what was on when I first paid attention to music, and definitely influenced my tastes (I’m one of the masses who likes music that music people sneer at). I wasn’t so into r&b, but do have a soft spot for some 80s rock and pop and the hair bands of the earlier 90s (that brothers and older cousins listened to).
My first answer would be Calypso by John Denver. But I don’t actually listen to it regularly, even though I have a digital copy.
The song which is actually on my list of favorites is Believe by DJ Bobo.
Hey, we’re not supposed to judge each other in this thread.
-hangs head in shame-

Nickelback’s “I Wanna Be a Rock Star”
I don’t get the hate. They’re just as genuine as any other rock band.
Aside, have you ever heard the Pirate version?
How about the, “Perfect country and westetn song,” You Don’t Have to Call ame Darlin"?
I really love that song sooo much, and I’m not ashamed.
See? Once you get covered, you become a cultural standard!
His “Rocky Mountain High” is brilliant! One of my favourite songs
