What are the songs you simply cannot get sick of? The ones you set the “repeat” CD function to? The ones your friends may grow to detest because you play them so often?
For me, it’s: Prince’s (or TFKA’s, whatever) "Seven"
There is so much happening musically in that song–it’s fascinating and hypnotic. George Michael’s "Freedom"
I love the theme of this song–GM’s desire to be himself and free of his MTV-generated image. The music is very envigorating; it also helps that I find the video incredibly cool. Barenaked Ladies’ "One Week"
It’s just plain fun. And hyper. I like that. Alanis Morissette’s "Not The Doctor"
This is my theme song for a disturbed, and emotionally needy, ex-boyfriend. “I don’t want to be the glue that holds your pieces together…I don’t want to be your mother, I didn’t carry you in my womb for nine months…lend me some fresh air!” Yep, that’s my Kris Song. Mozart’s Requiem: Lacrymosa Movement
It’s one of my favorite Mozart pieces, yet it was never completed (at least, not by Mozart). Still, it is so empassioned and mournful that it had to make this list.
How 'bout you guys?
“Me fail English? That’s unpossible!”
“English? Who needs that? I’m never going to England.”
This isn’t realy one single song, but I can listen to Christmas carols forever. I whistle, and sing them all year 'round, and it’s impossible for me to get sick of them. Two of my favorites are “White Christmas,” and “Let it Snow.” Also “Carol of the Bells.” I’ll never get sick of those songs, no matter what time of year it is.
“American Pie,” by Don McLean
“Blue Sky,” by the Allman Brothers
“Jessica,” also by the Allman Brothers
The entire BNL “Stunt” CD
“Lido Shuffle” by Boz Scaggs (I must also listen to this one at very high volume, but that’s another story)
There’s lots more, but now I’ve got these ones going through my mental CD player, and I can’t think of them right now
“Day After Day” by Badfinger
“Wanderlust” by Paul McCartney
“Maybe I’m Amazed”, also by McCartney
“Man, I Feel Like a Woman” by Shania Twain…I can’t get that video out of my head lately
“Handle With Care” by the Traveling Wilburys
Beethoven’s “Emperor Concerto” and the “Egmont Overture”
Its getting late, and I can’t think of any more off the top of my head.
