Sons of Anarchy - Season 2 Thread

Well, at lest they didn’t fire any of the guns. But it was a very obvious set up, and the bit with the set-up with the cameras is something that SOA should be used to with the Aryans by now. Clay should not be the President of the club. He is directly responsible for that bit of idiocy despite every warning in the world. Hell, W would have known better than to do it that way.

Laertes is now clearly being filled by Opie. He blames Jax for his getting back into the club and Donna getting killed. Why Piney doesn’t just blow away Clay is beyond me.

Looks like the boys will be in county jail for a while. Assault, burglary and illegal weapons possession. In the real world the Aryans have won the whole thing by now. Let’s see what legal maneuver they pull to get SAMCRO out of county within two episodes.

I am thoroughly disappointed in the SOA, they are TERRIBLE criminals. That being said, I love this show so hard!

Poor Juice! I was laughing my ass off but then they were alone in the infirmary and he was all small and holding condoms and no one was swooping in to save him!!:( He looked so small and scared but then everything was okay…until the SHIVVING, wtf!?

So everyone who stands with Jax gets systematically destroyed? Good gravy, that sucked.

My jaw out n’ out dropped when the tranny shot Trammel - holy monkey! I did not see that coming. Though, with Jax playing the great and grim prognosticator, I suppose they foreshadowed the hell out Opie’s failure. I know I said I liked Death_Wish_Opie but I was wrong, this is getting old PDQ.

What was that you said Sage Rat, full-on Neo-Gemma? Well you can say that again! I’m certain that Tara’s stint as Jax’s old lady will be short-lived but I’m enjoying the hell out of it while it lasts. “Is he out of his mind!?” Then Gemma flashed that little grin - she might as well have chuckled, “Yes my young apprentice.” My GOD those two are funny. I would cheerfully shunt aside the last shred of realism for another “firearms incident.”

Points to Bobby for actually communicating and trying to ward off further conflict. That almost never happens on tv and I just don’t expect it from a testosterone-charged biker drama - well done show!

Oh Agent Stahl, here you come again. That was just six kinds of fun! The scenes with Hale and Clay were plenty good and then we got the bonus round with Jax, damn fine episode! I dithered a bit at that point, the deal Stahl offered sounded so good that I wondered if Clay or Jax would go for it, wondered if maybe they should capitulate.

But of course they didn’t knuckle under! The fight between Clay and Jax seemed oddly timed to me until my mom pointed out that Clay didn’t know that anyone apart from Jax suspects his involvement in Donna’s death. I still half expected Clay to pass some info to Jax before they hauled him off but nay, twas just a blood bath. A collective groan went up at my house when Jax dodged and Clay punched the bars - frick and frak I’ll wager that hurt.

Stahl and Jax FTW! I was really impressed with Jax right up until the end when he basically invited her to investigate the murder of a federal agent. Okay, so it was stupid to mention Kohn but I enjoyed it all the same, she looked rocked!

So I’m thinking we count on Stahl coming back to Charming. She might have wandered off after tanking the IRA bid but Jax dangling Kohn in front of her pretty much guarantees her return - yay!

Oh, and the boys being out on bond? Yeah, that’s going to go well. Holy cats, even if the SOA manage to roust out Zobelle and company, I’m thinking Oswald’s line about leveraging the land will come back to haunt them.

steeples fingers a la Mr. Burns Eeexxxxcellent.

I really liked this latest episode, but I have to wonder, what is Jax’s endgame? It seems like the only thing he is really accomplishing is alienating everyone from him.

Yeah, that last scene threw me off. He just comes off as a whiny little bitch to the rest of the club. It seems like Jax would be courting the club and trying to off Clay to affect change.

I don’t get it either. I guess we can fall back on the Hamlet metaphor. Jax either doesn’t know how to change the club or he’s simply unable to commit to a course of action.

Did you notice that when Jax talked to the prisoner in isolation he introduced himself as Clay? I couldn’t figure what that was about.

I absolutely love that Stahl’s nose is six kinds of fucked up. That’s such a nice touch. It’s rare that a show will actually allow a hotty to remain marred like that.

Chopper9760 I agree it was weird that he introduced himself as Clay. Though I guess it was a dig at Clay to make the guy think that Clay was a pussy bitch.

As far as Jax coming across as whiney, Jax is coming across as being right again and again and again and they are all seeing it. Clay is a fucking testosterone driven moron.

I thought Jax pulling out the bit about Kohn was ill-advised but not necessarily out of character. It was a great scene because it showed Jax going from insecure to chuffed about his own intelligence to overplaying his hand. The look on Stahl’s face wasn’t just one of revulsion that he killed a Federal agent but actual fear at being threatened. Jax basically said straight up that HE killed Kohn, not the club, but HIM. It also told Stahl that he’s not just some pansy but a wolf in his own right.

Right now Jax is heading toward lone wolf status, but he’s also coming across as a true leader.

It’ll be interesting to see how far they take Hamlet. I was surprised at how quickly and easily they got out of prison, they’re going to have to cut a deal to stay out of prison after the fiasco they pulled. I look forward to seeing Jax come back around to Stahl’s offer. Though it was clear he told her to go fuck herself just to maintain a united front with Clay and keep their squabbles internal. Even though he disagrees with Clay he continues to back his plays.

The fight scene was fabulous, that sort of Father/Son throwdown is serious and that Jax won represents a turning point in the series.

Who was Kohn? I have a bad memory for names.

But I don’t know. I think Jax figures that if he throws in with Clay, Clay can’t solve their problems, but he himself doesn’t yet know how to solve them either, so he’s stuck just nixing everything even though it’s running a spike into the club.

I also wanted to just applaud Ally Walker’s performance in that scene when Jax brought up Kohn. She went through two or three separate but only minutely different facial expressions, each with a different meaning. Given how different her character comes across as compared to her one in Profiler, I’ve gotta say that the woman has some chops.

Kohn was the 12-different-kinds-of-crazy ATF agent who was stalking Tara. Then Tara and Jax killed him and had sex 5 feet from his corpse.

You should rewrite Khon’s Wiki entry, that’s really all it needs to say. I 'bout fell outta my chair laughing.

Ally Walker is awesome! I liked The Profiler but the character apparently didn’t give her the space she needed. I never would have guessed at her range either, very well done. And smokin’ hot, day-um.

Does anyone remember her appearance in While You Were Sleeping? She played Ashley Bartlet Bacon, also a very different character. This discussion makes me want to rent Universal Soldier, which I must shamefully admit I enjoyed - it probably hasn’t aged well.

LOL, I was actually looking for that and didn’t notice! Walker’s nose might just look like that…Hmmm, good a reason as any to watch the ep again

Pussy bitch was the only reasoning I could come up with, works for me!

I absolutely agree that Jax is right over and over and he is making good decisions for the most part. I’m just baffled by that last scene; the boys go lick their wounds in the club house and Jax stomps off alone. Jax knows that he’s alienated Opie. Bobby, much as he may agree with Jax, said he’d throw in with Clay to keep the club together. If Jax isn’t going to go at Clay directly, isn’t the only other course to woo the club to his way of thinking?

I suppose Jax has already tried that route. However, pissing 1/2 the club off and withdrawing from the other 1/2 doesn’t seem like a workable plan either.

Oh man, I didn’t even consider that Jax might offer up the IRA later, that would be really interesting. It would be a good way for the SOA to avoid prosecution and force them out of the gun trade but it seems like a political death trap for Jax.

I wonder if the security tapes can exonerate them? Not completely obviously but if the footage is good enough it should show that none of the boys fired. As other folks have mentioned though, they’ve racked up plenty of legit charges.

Interesting episode. The shit’s really piling on to the club.

Though it was nice to see them almost get away with something against the supremacists.

That was fantastic acting on her part. Even if her reactions were edited (they were) those have to be some of the best facial expressions of horror and fear and “how could I have been so stupid?” that I have ever seen. I hope she gets an Emmy for it. Why did Jax remove any doubt from her mind? Just to frighten her? For thrills?

Anyway, last night looked like the locals are trying to come together to get rid of the newcomers.

So who killed Luann? Bobby to cover up his own silence? He didn’t have the time, and it is out of character. Somebody on Zoebell’s team to make it look like Tom Arnold? Tommy boy? Really stupid move, it could get him killed. I think Zoebell’s people did it to frame the Tom Arnold character to get the boys’ bail revoked with another videotaped set up.

Tom Arnold clearly killed Luann. I don’t think that’s a mystery really.

Chopper9760 Sorry I didn’t see your post before now. Great comments I’ll come around with more comments later.

But first general thoughts.

Hamlet needs to get his act together and take down the false King otherwise more people will die and more people will suffer. It seems like right now if the shit goes down, people are going to side with Jax. Tig is not comfortable with what he did, but he is also trapped, if anyone found out that he’s been Clay’s internal hatchetman all this time they’d crucify him.

I think maybe what will get Jax to finally pull the trigger is if he finds out that Clay killed John Teller.

It seems like from the preview of next week that Jax is pulling a gun on Clay.

Depending on how long they string out the Hamlet thing, he may never feel certain of it. As of now, he doesn’t even suspect. Gemma seems to despise her late husband.

At this point, I don’t see how they can string this out much longer. Especially with what they showed from next week’s episode, the shit has to go down soon. The rest of this season is going to be very good or very disappointing.

I agree with snailboy. I think they are going to turn Hamlet on its head because Jax hasn’t shown any signs of madness and he’s too proactive against his step-Father.

Storywise, I think there needs to be one more episode of life sucking for the crew. There’s five more episodes in the season so someone has to come in with a plan and sell it to the team, but for that to happen, things need to become sufficiently uncomfortable for them to bond together and work as a group. Probably that will be the next episode.

On the other hand, maybe they won’t bond together as a team. Maybe Clay will work his way through the city council and the IRA and Jax will work through Hale and Stahl, and their combined but independent output will be what saves the day. Presuming that there will be a third season, this might be the more likely outcome. Jax bringing in a big catch like that might also be the saving grace so that Clay can’t just pop him. I could see this season ending with Jax being sent off to “England”.

Well…apparently my gifts of prophecy are sub-par!

But, even so, I’m going to prophesize that Tom Arnold and that one porn girl are in cahoots or that she killed Luanne herself. Gemma and Tara certain gave her an excuse for it.

I’m thinking that Zoebell is behind the porn competition in the first place and is behind everything.
