A couple years ago we lost our three geriatric pets, about the same time the last of our children left our home. We enjoyed the freedom for about a year, but soon decided deep down we are dog people.
Lincoln (in the avatar) came first, but after a couple months we decided he needed a partner in crime; and adopted Kennedy. We must have suffered from momentary insanity, as both are typical hard headed, high energy Jack Russell Terriers. But we do love them so.
The picture part seems to be beyond my SD skills.
Alas, there’s no vaccine for that. 
He makes you understand the phrase, “Cute as a speckled pup in a red wagon under a Christmas tree.”
