Jim, you could have this family summary published. You’re spot on.
And they did a nice job of making Bobby unsympathetic by making him a murderer - as opposed to a thug who was forgivably soft-hearted and liked to play with trains - last week. Maybe my memories of the first half of this season have faded, but I’ve been impressed with how serious the show has been so far. That seems knew. They have really paid a lot of attention the ‘growing old’ storylines.
I still like Bobby and feel bad for him. Last ep it seemed like Tony manipulated Bobby in order to bring him low. My theory (unsupported by any spoilers or previews) is that Bobby flips. That would devastate the family and would be a fair comeuppance for everyone.
Bobby does know all about Ade, right?
I like him, too- I like most of them. But you can’t say Bobby’s on a different level from them now. He killed a guy just because he felt bad for punching Tony and was tempted by Tony’s offer.
Probably, but I don’t know.
I think he did it because he realized he could not really continue in that organization without killing someone. How could he really refuse to do it in that situation? He was on thin ice with Tony as it was. He had to. Is my heart breaking for him? No, considering his choice of career. But of all of them, he’s the least despicable.
I don’t think anybody except Tony, Sil, and Christopher know about Ade, but I have no basis for this. I don’t remember if Ade’s fate was discussed by anyone else. Maybe they “know” without having to be told.
Tony seems to want to protect Christopher, and Christopher’s image, as Tony’s protege. How would it look to the rest of the gang if they knew that Ade had talked to the feds for several months and that Chris and Tony didn’t know about it.
Was anybody else thinking about the Godfather during the christening? I was waiting for the priest to say “Do you reject Satan and all his works?” and then see people getting whacked all over the place.
Yes, I was and **Lakai ** made mention of it earlier.
flickster, thanks.
Whoops. Lakai’s post was so short and to the point that I missed it.
I’m guessing Adrianna - I still think that her death will be the downfall of the family…
I thought the doc was paying way to much attention to the Sack. I smelled prison informant or fbi agent.
Someone remind me, since I haven’t seen the Tony B. episodes in a while–was there anything unusual about Billy Leotardo’s death? IIRC, Phil and Billy hit one of the Jersey guys that was close to Tony B., and Tony B. went nuts and tried to take them both out, succeeding with Billy. In other words, Tony B. was out of line to do it, but other than that, it wasn’t particularly out of the ordinary in this universe.
Phil’s grudge, when the man behind responsible is already dead, just seems so over the top.
Of course, we don’t have to accept that there’s anything rational about Phil.
Check this out, it’s pretty comprehensive. Tony S wouldn’t let Phil get his hands on Tony B after Tony B killed Billy Leotardo. Tony S killed Tony B himself rather than let Phil do it. I guess Phil is still holding a grudge for that, though the whole situation was pretty screwed up all around.
You’re right. Phil is still holding a grudge because of Tony B.
Add in Vito the gay blade (I’m using his language) and Phil becomes the grudgeholder of all grudgeholders. Even though he did get to make the hit, Tony still put him off from it for a while. Remember how he was gripping the bedsheet as Vito was being killed? I think he was getting off on it mentally.
I think he’s a little psychopathic is what gets him riled up and stays with him. Nevermind that Tony came up with what I thought was a brilliant idea, given their circumstances – at least let him do it, since it was his cousin and one of his men. Tony B. still ended up just as dead. But Phil still felt slighted.
And don’t forget how absulutely pissed he seemed to still be about the name change given to his grandfather on at Ellis Island.
There’s a little darkness there, if I may say so.
I’m guessing you’re right, but could be Tony Blundetto.
I initially thought the same thing but as the episode played out - I changed my mind.
It’s going to be neither one. I’m guessing it is someone we’ve never seen.
In episode 1 of the current season (last week’s episode), I fail to recall how they showed the replay of when Johnny Sack gets apprehended. I remember Tony tossing the gun and running away, just as it happened in the original scene. But then they showed how a kid saw the event from his window and then went out and found the gun (eventually using it to kill someone). Is there anything in this scene that reveals whether the producers originally knew that the gun would be retrieved? Or was this scene simply used as background material for a story-line that was invented later?
The kid didn’t kill anyone. He was pulled over in his car and gave them the gun and the story because they found cocaine on him.
Nothing about episode 1 of the current leads me to believe they originally knew the gun would be retrieved. Plus, everything about last season leads me to believe they’re just making it up as the go along, or as they need to.
Did anyone mention Ginny Sack’s line this week. . .“he quit smoking and I lost 27 pounds for him.”
