Meadow will go on to whatever graduate degree her current boyfriend is taking. Next she’ll date an engineer and want to build bridges.
I sure did, but I think even the writers/producers thought another convenient murder would be overkill.
This line also reminds of how overwrought Carter was when telling Junior about his father’s criticism of his “96” in elementary school. I’m not saying the basis for both is on the same level, but both A.J. and Carter have emotional/psychological issues they’re dealing with.
This is also not the first time I’ve drawn a parellel between Jr./Carter’s and T/A.J.'s relationships (however intentional or unintentional it is).
This is of course totally after the fact but last week I was wondering if A.J. would eventually try to kill himself but had decided by the end of that episode he probably wouldn’t.
no pun intended, I’m sure!
I swear, the theme of this season could be how nearly every person in the show has a complete lack of self-awareness. Michael Scott from The Office would fit right in with this bunch!
Tony has a lot more self control that I do. To let Carmella say that line about, “Do you have any idea what it’s like to live with someone who does nothing but complain all the time?” and not tell her what a whiny, self righteous, complaining bitch she is – well, you’re better man than I am, Gunga Din!
More than “dimly” aware. Carm and Meadow have no problem hiding things from Tony when they want to. I won’t accuse them of instigating, because Tony had cause to be pissed, but I do think they got off on it.
Meadow looked really uncomfortable to me. I think she had to tell Tony because Coco surely would have bragged about it to Phil’s crew. It would have gotten out, and if Tony didn’t react, he would look weak, afraid to stand up for his family. He had to retaliate or risk a major loss of face. Meadow and Carmela know that. Their secrecy in this case would have undermined Tony. Also, I think Coco deserved what he got and if Phil wasn’t trying to start shit, Coco never would have dared say what he did.
I agree with this and, as I mentioned last week, T has actually held back with Phil so much recently, it’s to the point where he’s almost being pwned by Phil.
I’m not a violent person, but Coco deserved everything he got. And Phil will deserve everything he (hopefully) gets.
So… what the heck is a lincoln log sandwich? Carm was making them for AJ-- it looked like a hot dog with cream cheese, but that can not be right… yuck.
Unfortunately it is.
And it’s funny: with all the food porn on this show, all of a sudden Carmella’s making white-trash horsesdoovers for AJ, like it’s been his comfort food since childhood? I wouldn’t have thought Carm would let a processed hot dog cross her threshold.
That’s what I was saying last night while watching it. There’s been a whole lot of denial by many of the characters, particularly T and Carm.
Carmella’s “He was always our happy little boy!”
Tony’s “I’m one of the good guys!”
AJ blaming everyone else for his problems.
I couldn’t help but laugh at AJ for most of this episode. The only time I felt bad for him was when he was sobbing in T’s arms.
Is that the first time someone’s been in that pool since the show started? After Carmella (or was it Tony) looked out the window at the pool, I thought we’d see the pool being filled in by the end of the episode.
No. They were playing Marco Polo in it just last season.
Tony was floating/lounging in the pool during a visit to the house when he and Carmella were separated, which conveniently pissed off Carmella…
Apparently Meadow was aware that retribution was in order. An insult like that could not be glossed over. War is on the horizon unless Tony can subcontract Phils removal.
Rent-a-whore Carmella gets her regular payment in form of a watch. She is Tony’s most expensive prostitute.
AJ (Tony Junior) and Meadow (Carmella Junior) cannot escape their DNA. They are different than their parents because their parents have tried to make their environment much diffferent (big house, 'burbs, college, etc) but in the end genetics dooms both of them.
They’ll be piles of shit like Tony and Carmella.
Junior is rotting in his hole. AJ will rot in his. Carmella and Tony have been rotting in their own holes and Meadow is choosing her hole to rot in.
Phil Leotardo, you see, did his ‘rot in a whole’ time for 20 years in prison. He IS self aware, and knows that rotting in holes is for people who won’t admit that they need to take action.
Melfi even rots in her hole.
Bunch of people who don’t make decisions that lead them from misery, right on down to the pysch/therapist.
Who’s Carter?
Carter’s was Junior’s mentally disturbed sidekick briefly in the home (the Wycoff Therapeutic Center) in Episode 80, Remember When. See here.
Right. Forgot about that kid.
Hey, it just occured to me that maybe this show is a commentary on the Bush family. Especially with the Tony-AJ dynamic. It just hit me, especially recalling AJ’s attempt to take out Junior… possibly a comment on Iraq? Defending dad, but failing miserably in the process?
I’m sure there’s more…
A couple of thoughts:
It strikes me that everyone from the “outside” who comes in contact with this family wants to leave as soon as they figure out what they really are: Finn, AJ’s fiancee etc.
Also, Melfi’s therapist seems like a right prick. He’s both disgusted by Tony and jealous that he choose Melfi as his therapist. He seems to make every effort to make Melfi miserable despite his supposed role as her therapist.
