Thanks, nellie I appreciate the re-write.
On re-read, wow, that brought way more positive energy than I could. Thank you @nelliebly
Almond milk isn’t supposed to come out of the carton like gnocchi, is it?
I didn’t think so.
I think it’s too old.
I’m so sorry about Polar, Taters. I hate that dogs don’t get to stay with us for very long.
A few months ago one of my docs decided I needed to start testing my blood glucose again so they ordered a new glucose meter and test strips from my pharmacy. It’s a One Touch Verio and I don’t hate it. Last week I ran out of test strips and got a new supply from the pharmacy. When I opened them I discovered they were test strips for a One Touch Ultra, and won’t even fit into the Verio. Yesterday I went into the pharmacy to sort it out. Here’s where my resting ‘I want to kill you’ face comes in. I really wasn’t upset and I didn’t care whose fault it was, I just wanted it fixed. They didn’t take it that way. #le sigh#
Yeah, the gummint here is dysfunctional, and the tea baggers partiers are doing their best to make it even moreso, but I haven’t ever been any place where it isn’t. If you’ve found a place that suits you better, that’s great. More power to you.
Well, lots to do today, and it’s gonna be hot. 90f, they say.
And this year’s dance with SiriusXM is over. Our rate stays the same - as if I doubted it. Such a silly game with them.
I’d encourage this. For quality of life reasons. I got hearing aids just before my first grandchild was born and I’m so glad I did. There was so much out there I didn’t realize I wasn’t hearing, including soft tiny voices who weren’t keen on repeating themselves when I said “hunh?”.
Costco has audiologists and they sell hearing aids for $$$$ less then the gotcha! predatory places. Literally thousands less. It’s worth the $annual fee for the exam savings alone, much less what you’d save on buying hearing aids if you need them. I love mine and they’ve gotten even better since I got mine, now they can be rechargeable, no messing with teensy batteries. My aids connect me through Bluetooth to my phone, so phone calls are broadcast right into my ears, as is Google maps. If tech-daft me can figure hearing aids out, an engineer would rock it.
{{{{{{{ polar }}}}}}} & {{{{{{{{ tater }}}}}}}
Not silly at all. You should do this.
Shoe I think you’re amazing.
Taters I’m sorry about Polar. Hugs to you both.
Today officially sucks. Just got a call from the bank that the property tax wasn’t paid. I know that I just checked that it was, because I wanted to be double-sure that everything was in order before submitting the refinance. This will teach me to print out everything and not to rely on online records. I was going to have a second cup of coffee, but now my blood pressure is high enough all on its own.
Take care everyone. Happy Tuesday.
@purplehorseshoe and @nelliebly: nice job on the rewrite. I believe in the both of you, all the way!
And nellie, sorry about the pooopyhead eye doc office and insurance woes. They just don’t care. I went through that with my dentist and couldn’t go to him for a year and a half while BC/BS jerked us both around. I’d been going to him for 30 years and not seeing him was so frustrating (and not overly good for my mouth). I can’t wait for this country to get away from profit driven healthcare. I do not have high hopes for my lifetime.
My area is heading in to high heat advisories for the rest of the week~not looking forward to that. I’ll have to dash out to do my errands and dash right back into the AC. My car is like an oven as I have to park on the street and the city had to cut down two huge trees that shaded it because of elm disease. I miss those beauties.
Happy Toosday!
It’s a hot 91 degrees now, was a nice 74 at the park this morning.
Irk was irksome this morning.
There was a problem with the phones and a customer yelled at me to fix it.
As if I can do anything about it.
Appraiser did her thing yesterday. The dogs followed her everywhere, they are so nosy.
I hope it appraises for enough, but who knows. I see all the repairs that need to be done, but the house is old and it will never be done.
We opened all the shades yesterday to let in the natural light. When I pulled them back down one of them crumbled in my hand. Another thing to add to the never-ending list of things to do.
The lawn guy is coming to haul my old mattress away, then we have to go get groceries.
After we get them home and put away, I’m going to go get some ice cream for Echo’s birthday. My son has to irk tomorrow so we will celebrate today.
I ordered a doggie cake for her party tomorrow. One of the irkers there is making it, so all I have to do is pay her for it when I get there. I’m surprised it’s only $25, I think she should charge more.
I didn’t get time to deal with the phone discount yesterday, and today isn’t looking good either.
I hope all goes well with Polar, Taters.
Glad you made it home safely, MetalMouse.
Mothers can be a pita Shoe.
I try to put it into perspective.
Mattress is gone.
I have to remember to get gas while we are out.
I went for a walk down to the park. It was overcast when I left, but sunny by the time I got back. I, Sunny, do not like sunny. It doesn’t play well with assorted medical conditions of mine. Nonetheless, I am very proud of myself for walking as stress relief instead of stewing about the property tax. Also walking is good in general.
Fingers crossed for the appraisal Sari
I did a little research and found that two 30-minute walks are at least as beneficial as one 60-minute walk, with the added benefit of upping your metabolism for a bigger part of the day. I’ve been finding that a 60 minute walk is too irritating - after 25 minutes, I keep checking to see how much time is left. But if I walk in the morning, then in the afternoon for shorter periods, maybe my attitude will be better. Plus it’s tough finding 60-minute programs that I want to watch. All those channels means lots and lots of crap!!!
FCD is home. Thunder-boomer were booming, but the rain bypassed our house. And from the looks of weather radar, we won’t be getting any precip. Guess I’ll water my veggies tomorrow.
We’re going to DQ for supper, because.
{{{taters and polar}}} You’ll do what’s best for him.
Moooooooom, here’s hoping that the check engine light is for something as minor as a loose gas cap (true story: Dad’s check engine light went on in his pickup once and I told him to check that. After he started the truck back up, it was out).
Irk in the new gig day two. I got a little faster and am learning that I love Samsung for the ease of wiping the data and hate them for the !@#$ing way that they print the serial # on the back of the phones (tiny and low contrast). Normally, using the ESN there isn’t necessary, but the phones that are returned that are either locked or won’t power up I have to get the magnifier and still squint enough to give Eastwood a run for his money. I’m thinking that new glasses are in order.
Sis just called. She’ll be back up from Houston this weekend on her way to spend a couple of more weeks with Dad. She’ll get to go to the family reunion for the first time in a few years while she’s there.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
So last Tuesday I woke up from my nap to find one of my favorite players had been traded for non magic beans. Today I wake up and find my team is apparently interested in signing a racist and a dude under investigation for sex crimes, thus ruining my one true joy in life. Having a Vieux Carré to deal with it.
((((Sunny))))
((((shoe))))
((((nellie))))
Howdy Y’all! We did a day of sloth tha’t included quality cee-mint pond time, nappage, and Netflixin’. It is too a word, I made it up and it is now in the Mumper Dictionary. Sup also got fixed and et. It started rainin’ around five along with tstorms. It has rained over three inches in the past three hours and we are now under a flash flood warnin’. I envisioned mowage in the mornin’ but that ain’t happenin’ until later in the day, unless we get more of the same rain and tstorms we’re gettin’ now which looks like a possibility.
{{{Taters}}} I know you’ll do what is best for Polar. This is the reason I haven’t gotten a dog in a long time. XM
MOOOOOOM glad you were once again the victor in the annual battle with SiriusXM,
Nellie that sucks about the optometrist. I say call and harrass the insurance folks just for fun and stress relief.
Sunny hope the property tax woes are fixed soonest.
MetalMouse hope the light bulb changin’ went well. There’s a how many mumpers does it take to change a lightbulb joke in there somewhere.
Welp, I totally failed at my “more social/interactive” (in this thread) goal today. Stupid work kept getting in the way. It’ll probably get in the way again tomorrow, but I’ll keep trying.
Taters, I will so be keeping my fingers crossed for you and Polar.
I had groceries delivered today, and tried the “nuke some string cheese in a tortilla” thing for lunch! Turns out I need to use more than one thing of cheese at a time in order to be able to taste any. Tomorrow’s lunch will be cheesier.
Dinner was delivered from a nearby Italian place: three big meatballs in marinara sauce, and some lemon cookies. It was all very yummy, but I need to get back out of the habit of having sugary desserts. It’s challenging when I’m ordering food at the end of the workday and I’m tired and highly likely to indulge myself. The answer is that I need to cut back on how often I order food, but that will require some planning. And possibly some cooking (). I have lunch fairly well covered, but I’d like to start some of the food habits that will be required after weight loss surgery so I need to figure out how to shop for dinner that works for me but isn’t frozen. Or pasta- or rice-based. Or pizza. Maybe it’s time to finally take my 5-year-old Foreman grill out of its box…
As far as I’m concerned, if it conveys your desired meaning, it’s a word. This isn’t French, where there’s a governing body to enforce purity of language.
Ok, this means it is time for all of us to send foreman grill recipes and ideas to @Misnomer so he has time to shop and practice.
And give others more to do with theirs than just burgers :).
Nooooo, please don’t do that! I (really) appreciate the idea, but then I’ll have to spend a lot of time saying “thanks!” for suggestions that I’ll never try. I’m kind of picky…hence, the “dinner that works for me” part. I’ll figure something out!
(And it doesn’t really matter, but I’m a she. )
Well, that makes me 0 for 2. Sorry~I’ll try for other ways to cheer you on.
Ok, Mumpers, the grill ideas and recipes go to nettie.
But @Misnomer, have you thought about an air fryer? For healthiness and ease of cooking? My daughter, who has celiac disease and has to follow a FODMAP diet does a lot with hers and I always enjoy what she makes in it. I love crunchy and you can get that with an air fryer without oil or fats.
Nothing that comes out of an air fryer will be on the “allowed foods” list after my surgery.
(sorry!)
(but thanks!!)
